Q4 numbers will be a blowout. No way these numbers are baked in IMO. I like this better communication by Apple management....thank you, Tim. What does the "many will be delivered In October" language do for when sales ( earnings) are recognized? My understanding is that revenue is recognized when the units ship. So Q4 will not see the benefit of all those per-orders.

Hey what happened to Rosie and AppleDoc? Are they females? Do they know about this alternate forum? Does anyone know? Unlikely they know. There was a thread posted over at AFB1 which asked where people are now. It got deleted.

Did anyone else notice the following in that Samsung story? ``Samsung is asking Apple to pay more to use its mobile application processors produced at its plant in Austin, Texas. The release of the S4 means more market share for Samsung as it is the only firm that can guarantee on-time delivery, output commitment and better pricing for mobile application processors,’’ said one executive. This sure sounds like some kind of threat. I really would like Intel to at least show interest in licensing ARM and making Apples cpus using the trig ate technology.

Hi all,
For what it's worth, I'm here too. Just deleted that other sight off of my bookmarks bar. Ptooey!
Thank you Ms. iP for this new forum and thanks everyone for the great commentary, education, and entertainment on the side.
Congrats to all us AAPL holders, and let's all keep those seat belts secured.

Hey Mark, I wondered what happened to you. Good to see you! iPad, thanks for putting this together. I'm more disappointed in the attitude of AFB management toward members who have contributed so much to their board, than the functionality of the new format. I was truly shocked at what I was reading. Hi Joel, Hope all is good. I am still alive and kicking. LOL

3 mins to go in pre-market. Waiting to see if we break 700 before or after the opening bell.

Jon Fortt (CNBC) just tweeted:
"Apple shipped 30M iPhone 4S in late 2010, many eligible for upgrades now. Expect those to fuel FQ4-FQ1, intl to fuel FQ1-FQ2 "

Just don't get to exuberant, guys. As I wrote in the Charts thread, the PE, PriceCash, BB position and distance to 100day MA resemble the high on Sep. 20th 2011, which was followed by some days/weeks of consolidation.
Yes, this time is different because of the earlier launch of the iPhone, but I just wanted to caution people not to put all the cash in short-term/risk positions. Be careful.

TC is not the visionary that SJ was and never will be, but he knows how to make peace with WS. The actions by TC have provided a floor for AAPL. JMO of course.

O.k. One complaint about the new forum. We need more women...lots more women. The roster here reminds me of a Star Trek convention. Lovey, phoebes.....why don't the ladies love Apple? . Here Red, hope this helps. Sorry Love couldn't help myself. ;D

Oh the humanity. Profit taking. Part of Wall Street knows what they are doing with these short-term trades. A great many are as baffled as ever.

My understanding is that revenue is recognized when the units ship. So Q4 will not see the benefit of all those per-orders. It is not a problem about the pre-orders. Apple has shipped millions of units to its partners and everyone of those has been booked for the qtr. This is not about activations or anything else. This pre-order number to me insures that Apple will add 8 million phones to the FQ4. To be honest, we needed them because Q4 was looking pretty weak without them. Now I feel confident about Apple releasing earnings over $9 EPS and closer to $10. That is a big deal IMO.

I was at 26.5, Mercel at 28 or 29 million...he may be closer than I am

I won't lie.
Preorder numbers = ROCK
Delivery commentary in the PR release = mixed messages.
Will wait on the Sep. 24/25 initial sales number to start estimating fiscal Q4 iPhone sales. Clearly the demand is there.

I was in the 18-19 range before the launch, so add in the 8 million and Bingo! This sure helps the YOY. The QTR does not end until the 29th so we have lots of time to book units.

Here in the first 90 minutes of trading, profit takers got AAPL down to 695 and a bit less. With this heavy trading and waves of PR, the bears get out of the way and let the bulls have the morning.
Currently 698.xx Max Pain traders are in a quandary. If I were a bear, I'd be in the outhouse.

For myself, I just couldn't deal with the lack of functionality and the community (and our content) falling apart while we waited. But I don't want to make choices for others. I originally pulled this place together as a Band-Aid, but I must admit that the relative ease of "getting things done" the way I want has been refreshing. Thank you so much for doing this!

1) Just a heads up about TMO. I didn't follow things this weekend, came in and saw some links to a supposed awful thread over there, followed the link, read it, didn't see anything all *that* bad. Kept reading here, and from later posts it seems to me that they have deleted messages from that thread in order to make themselves look not as bad. So those of you who are posting about should be aware, if you talk about TMO's treatment of certain members and reference that link, some (many) of us will not know what you're talking about. 2) I'd vote for staying here permanently and letting AFB at TMO die. Maybe the mods could for a little while occasionally check for "where is everybody" posts and reply by PM in case we have some people who missed the move (vacation, illness, whatever). 3) FYI, in case it disappears soon, I did go ahead and make the effort (it took 3 tries) to post to the above-mentioned thread: Fix the goddamn login bugs.
I’m not logged in. But I go to login, and I’m already logged in. Back to the page, which now shows me being logged in. Compose a post, submit it, now I’m told that I have to provide username & password, and my post is gone unless I remembered to select all & copy before submitting.
That is bush league. The design, well personal tastes vary and so on. But you rolled out this change with the most basic functionality broken. If anyone cares, that post is at www.macobserver.com/tmo/forums/viewreply/651527/, and I'm going to check occasionally to see if gets deleted.

TMO is doubling down.
That's quite sad.
Time to prove 'em wrong. Let's make this community the best it can be, eh? (/not Canadian)
Forget the long goodbyes and poetic posts and passionate rants. It's all pointless and you won't get your desired impact anyway. You'll notice I haven't said a damn thing to TMO management. It's because there's no point with that floor broom brush they're painting AFB with.
