HSBC China PMI estimate 48.1 vs. 48.7 consensus - futures/Asian markets don't seem to care right now. Onto the EU/Eurozone numbers in a few hours.

MERCEL! You are sssoooo 20 minutes ago! I was waiting for confirmation from Tim and Phil. Solid speculation that Apple is continuing to negotiate an agreement for content. There were many negative implications about those odds when Comcast announced its interest in Time Warner. It's VERY positive that WSJ (say what you will, this is no Digitimes) is reporting those talks are still on the train track. Could Friday's close be explained by this report. Very possible. A content deal and a set-top box is a new product category, sure, but...not seeing how this is a huge deal for the stock. Wouldn't WS react more favorably to $2000 4K Apple televisions or something?

My time frame is at odds with others here. I don't play the weeklies, so yeah, this news isn't a catalyst for those playing the ponies. A deal with Comcast is about content, the straw that will stir the drink for an empowered Apple TV worth calling a new product category.

The answer is yes....and as predicted...somebody knew something last Friday at 3:45 p.m. CNBC will talk this up tomorrow with plenty of speculation on Apple TV, streaming, pricing, disruption etc. Comcast and Time Warner ( or the combo) is BIG time. People are getting tired of paying for a bunch of captive content they don't want. A new streaming model allowing Apple inside the content "tent" would be major. Even the fact they are talking is major....sure it may take time, but good things do...

PS - My house has been non-stop NCAA basketball ALL WEEKEND long. I'm getting confused on who the hell I'm watching. My husband has every TV in every room on...geez! I have to believe JD is soaking them all in...wasn't college sports what he wrote about? Only a casual observer of college hoops these days, as time is so finite. Pretty amazing, as I used to live for March. Glad to see my Bruins advance to the Sweet 16 under first-year coach Steve Alford (plus 2 other Pac-12 teams). But Florida is up next, and the Gators have spoiled the tourney for the Bruins 3 times in the last 8 years...however, this team beat Arizona a week ago, so we can play with anyone.

Of course this is a highly worthy long-term "new product category" pursuit for Apple, the doubters are probably clueless per usual...but without a device and any idea of a price point, it's kind of hard to see the billions, y'know?
