Yep. AppleInsider jumped the gun with its headline. Apple "won" with a $120M award. Give me a break. Lesson to all Samsung wannabes: Crime pays.

It does, I guess, but Samsung can't really figure out how to maximize its advantage and iDevices still are unique.
Apple will probably appeal its loss to Samsung.
Wonder how it'll play out in the stock short-term.

Probably not even enough to pay all the attorney costs.

Lesson to all Samsung wannabes: Crime pays. +1 I wonder how this will affect product development for both sides ... if at all since these cases are usually dealing with products/software that is already outdated. We need real patent reform .... using the courts to try and stop Samsung is pointless. Maybe Apple needs to use this victory in future ads ....

Stock will retrace to 545 You must be joking ... even a win of 2 billion wouldn't mean much to Apple's bottom line ....

Probably not even enough to pay all the attorney costs. You beat me to it - I was just about to post the same damn thing. Verdicts like these make people want to take justice into their own hands which is why AAPL needs to move faster and completely AWAY from Samsung in every frigging way. Very disappointing but not sure it matters with the stock. Half the people out there aren't even sure if this trial was a continuation of the earlier trial or whether it was an appeal or what the heck it was...so not so sure there will be any great affect on the stock.

Stock will retrace to 545 If it does - then it was going to do so technically with or without the amount awarded in the trial...we are just retrofitting at this point.

I for one am glad the case is mostly over. Don't really care if it is a win for Apple. Tim cook did a few important things with these cases. He probably kept a promise to Jobs to continue to go after Samsung and by proxy Google.
He got enough money and wins against Samsung that the vast majority of the public knows Samsung copied.
Companies know that they copy Apple at very high risk and Jobs' death won't put an end to Apples reputation for aggressive Defense of their intellectual property.
These things are probably good enough. Apple was never going to get enough money to matter to Apple. They also were not going to get injunctive relief on a scale that would matter to market share. I hope they now turn back to what they do best.

Lawsuit didn't stop A7, Touch ID, iBeacon, etc
iOS and...er...intervening events may have delayed iPhone's product cycle by around 3 months (we may never know if there was a delay, though it seems like it to me), but Apple has weathered the storm and its growth slowdown well.

Jobs said Apple had over 200 patents on the original iPhone, sooooo there are about 195 patents to go. Or maybe not. There are the Nortel/Rockstar patents though.

The best looking "iPhone Air" I've seen (the one on the right -- the one on the left looks like it has a two month battery):

The best looking "iPhone Air" I've seen (the one on the right -- the one on the left looks like it has a two month battery): No man, that's the upcoming hovercraft feature, which keeps the iPhone floating like an air hockey puck, to prevent scratching or breaking when dropped (iPhone 6 rights itself like a falling cat).

“We are grateful to the jury and the court for their service, Today’s ruling reinforces what courts around the world have already found: That Samsung willfully stole our ideas and copied our products. We are fighting to defend the hard work that goes into beloved products like the iPhone, which our employees devote their lives to designing and delivering for our customers.”recode.net/2014/05/02/jury-finds-samsung-infringed-on-apple-patents/
