The bar is open...summer is coming to a close. Most schools open this week for the youngsters....college kids are already back....and so is AAPL! Lots of buzz on network news about AAPL iPhone 6 and the 9/9 event. A few friends have already called me about it. Everyone is anxious to get new phones and are tired of looking at their cracked screens or having their slide button not working or whatever. Folks are all waiting. In the words of Peter Benchley, "I think we're gonna need a bigger boat!"

I wasn't expecting immediate availability; Apple's supply chain is a not exactly a "cone of silence" and Apple knows this better than anyone. Announce it first (like the iPhone 1 and MacPro) to guarantee the surprise. Simple. I'm still puzzling over the white box Apple is building for the event -- that's the basis for Dalrymple's "Holy Sh*t" Batman comment. If Apple ever had the chance to produce a "buy the news" event in the face of the media's eternal skepticism, it's gonna be this one.

Taiwan-based IT contract manufacturing giant Foxconn is to set up a new plant in Heze in eastern China's Shandong province as its three-year program to automate its plants has not been able to keep up with the surging demand from Apple, reported the Shandong-based Economic Observer website on Aug. 28. The robot program initiated in 2011 had the goal of installing 1 million robotic arms at Foxconn's factories in China within three years. However, due to technical and cost issues, there are fewer than 100,000 robotic arms in operation and the manufacturer is still greatly reliant on its human workforce. www.wantchinatimes.com/news-subclass-cnt.aspx?id=20140830000028&cid=1206

Riding it out including a small Sept $105 call position.. I'm excited for this event. I think we get "one more thing...".
This time it's different (famous last words).

Is anyone planning on going all cash before event or ride thru?? Rolled out sept and October spreads to later months, so still in but less time pressure. Took a flyer on a few sept.5 102 calls... It will be "show or go" on Tuesday for these.. Then I sit and hope

The event's on Sep. 9. So, an over-the-weekend weekend momo play? Yes, the sept 5 calls must be in the money on this coming Tuesday, or I dump them and take a small loss. They have to "show" a gain then or they "go" ( get sold)

So I'm holding jan 2016 100s. Going to sell higher strike calls - probably 125s some time next week.

So I'm holding jan 2016 100s. Going to sell higher strike calls - probably 125s some time next week. What do I plan to do with the bullish vertical call spreads(Jan 15 $85.71/$100)? Hold till after Jan 1, 2015, sell before Jan OE. What have I done to play the Sep 9 event? Long 20 diagonals (Sep 26 $107/ Sep 12 $108) for 64 cents. Long 20 diagonals (Oct $105/ Sep $106) for $1.30. Max loss ~ $4000

So mobile payments seem like it's going to be on the apple Docket for sept event. Does anyone have any ideas or can someone point me to an article that articulates how apple makes money here?

Here is some analysis, undertaken by Pacific Crest, on the potential benefits to Apple from a deal with Visa:

Hard to see Apple *not* getting some money out of issuer partnerships, but eh, who knows.
