My guess, Game changing, there will be shortages, high price - high margin initially, pundits and the general public will have failed to see the myriad ways these things can be used, 2 years from now people will still claim Apple never invents anything even though everyone will be trying to copy them. Oh, and new phones.

I wonder whether Angela Ahrendts will get some time on Tuesday to talk about retail. There is a long profile on her today in The Sunday Times (behind a paywall). There is nothing very revealing in the article... she allegedly gets up at 4.30 every morning, is a control freak and recently won the tongue-in-cheek, Financial Times "Golden Flannel Awards" for the worst examples of impenetrable corporate jargon. Here is an example from her time at Burberry: "In the wholesale channel, Burberry exited doors not aligned with brand status and invested in presentation through both enhanced assortments and dedicated, customised real estate in key doors.” At Burberry "...she transformed the label's bricks-and-mortar shops and online sales arm into the most digitally advanced of any luxury goods retailer. Burberry was the first luxury brand to live-stream a fashion show in 3D around the world and allow customers to buy clothes online straight from the catwalk".

"Wearables, Payments, Chickens and Eggs" by Ben Thompson. stratechery.com/2014/wearables-payments-chickens-eggs/RBC Capital Markets: “Heading into the September 9th event, we believe investors are anticipating new 4.7″ and 5.5″ iPhone models with extended battery life and added software capabilities. We believe the launch numbers will be positive and we would not be surprised to see 10M+ iPhones sold in the first weekend (launch date September 19).”

One can never get enough of shaky bigfoot "leak" videos. Is This the New Apple iWatch? More like iBracelet. Calvin Klein has made a bracelet watch. Maybe the ladies version just goes completely dark and looks like a black cuff bracelet when not in use. Scoff all you want, but women are pretty dopey about fashion. I mean, somehow the fashion industry convinced them to put these on their feet:

It would be great to see Big Bob Mansfield talking again from Apple's White Room on Tuesday. It's been too long. Here's hoping.

I wonder if this time around it's going to be "sell on the news" or "sell a week before the news"

A bracelet won't appeal to the widest possible audience, so Apple won't make those crappy, fugly thingies JD posted. The "leaked" iWatch at the top is hilariously bad.

No prediction here, but IMO there is no reason why we should assume there will be a singular, unisex wearable. Perhaps Apple will integrate iOS into Uggs.

OMG - What the hell is the problem with UGGs? Every man I know hates them on his girlfriend or wife....including my husband. They are warm and cozy and fluffy and comfortable - ok not sexy - but jeez it's not like any of you (including my husband) are on the cover of GQ! Gimme a break! (lol)

HOWEVER, there will be some minimum size due to the necessity of sufficient battery capacity. So unlike regular watches where female watches are much smaller than male watches, that won't be the case here. By the way all, I am still hoping for categories other than "wearables"!

Uggs was a bar-room bet between two guys. One guy said to the other "I bet you that even if I make them ugly as sin AND even name them 'Uggs' that once they become popular all the chicks are gonna want 'em anyway", other guy said "you're on!", so he did it.

It's a CG piece, I know the guy who did it. Read in the description about how it is not real and all CGI. He does some YouTube viral videos for fun. I think there is even a making of video on his site. Original linkPretty cool that people think it is real though....

Yeah, well, it's a Sunday man, let's see you try and post something other than negative waves! Speaking of which, looks like we're going to war on Wednesday, so plan accordingly. That, plus the typical sell-the-news-after-the-event, should create quite the BTFD opportunity. I just hope the iUggs come in size 11.

No negative waves, I certainly believe what they do announce will be better than the concepts, much like the original iPhone. I just found it amusing that his video which was very clearly labeled as CGI in his original post was making the rounds in Chinese rumor sites.
