Today starts the fabulous first quarter of Apple's 2015 fiscal year. 2014 is officially in the books. If you ordered an iPhone but don't have it yet, thanks for adding to what will, I believe, be an amazing next 90 days

Apple Pay is a software service only accessible to a fraction of the population (US, iPhone 6/6+ or 5/5s with Apple Watch. I think it has great potential but it's not a new product category. They need to roll this out to more countries as quickly as possible. Not like iTunes Radio.

So do you believe that the revenue from Pay will be lumped in with general Software and Services revenue? I guess that it would be very Apple-like to keep the actual numbers fairly opaque, but I would sure like to be able to see the individual contribution of Pay.

Sigh. Upgraded to 8.0.2 last night. Today I found that several of my settings got changed: Airplane Mode on, Bluetooth off, Display Brightness almost minimized. That must be so hard for you.

My iPhone 6 Plus experiment is completed. I experimented with my wife's phone for 48 hours. I'm considered to have big hands. I tied it at the gym, walking, in bed, in public, at the office, on the couch, using different apps and pocketability.
At the start, I was impressed but the longer I used it, no thank you. The biggest issue is how tired my hand got when I used it for too long. For me, the iPhone 6 / iPad mini retina / MacBook Air is the perfect mobility combination.

Here is the original Press Release from Square Trade - dated Sept. 22 (before Bendgate?) showing iPhone 6/6plus are more durable than Samsung Galaxy S5: www.squaretrade.com/press/iphone-6-earns-best-score-ever-iphone-6-plus-not-far-behindSquare Trade should know, they provide 3rd party warranty services for consumer electronic devices so they have an incentive to properly gauge the reliability/break-ability of the devices under coverage. For a less breakable product, I would imagine they charge a lower premium than a more breakable product.

Quartz daily brief just posted this paywall protected story. Anyone know more?
The EU prepared a massive fine against Apple. The company will be accused of improperly negotiating for state aid (paywall) from the Irish government by promising jobs in exchange for preferential tax treatment, according to the Financial Times. Apple, which is under fire for its tax avoidance tactics, could face a fine of several billion euros

Let 'em try.
There's been saber-rattling on this for years. Apple has an IRS guy practically resident in Cupertino.
It's a money grab, pure and simple. This tax arrangement's been around for decades, with plenty of time to vet it, actually try to do something about it, etc.
