Early morning trading is positive, as are the futures. An early strong push through 645 could set the stage for a nice move through 650. Looks like the same gaping down that hurt so much could help us going up. Trouble waits around 655' should we climb near there in the next couple of days... No negative reaction to the lack of an October 10 iPad mini notice. I like that. And I like very much the new iPod commercials. Clever, jazzy and back in the spirit of youth. . The physical blending of all iPod styles is a very effective way to show the stable of colors and types. ----- In edit...this is my 100th post in Lovey's bar and grill. I wonder if ill ever catch Mav? Do we get service pins?

I still think the iPad mini invite will be going out before earnings...which leads me to believe that possibly some people were waiting for the news to sell some shares and now won't sell for fear that they will do so right in front of the news. It's all a head game. You think it's coming but don't know when....ahhh the drama....because we just don't have enough. "Gimme more cow bell! - I need more cow bell!"

It's strange but the stock market is really starting to become a favorite hobby of mine. I'm sure many of you agree but it makes 9:30 - 4:00 Monday thru Friday much more exciting. Even when I eventually get better at this and earn a significant about of money I still will prolly live within my means in order to invest more in the market. It's almost more fun to watch your account grow than it is spending your earnings.

Trouble waits around 655' should we climb near there in the next couple of days... I concur. We opened above the daily lower acceleration band, so should see a move to the mid 650s. Then could see a pullback. Not entirely sure how deep that would go.

650 weeklies are the wall right now -- doubt we get above it before next week but hey....there's always "that invite" that may surface!

What a performance by Ibanez. What happened to Jeter? I saw Nix at SS, and thought he may have gotten injured. What happened?

At what point will we be able to confirm the downtrend may be over?

At what point will we be able to confirm the downtrend may be over? Such categorical confirmations do not exist.

Personally, I like the "reading finger" identity verification much more than the aesthetically hiding components.

There appears to be a big call/put imbalance at 640 which might pull us in that direction over the next two days. For next week (monthly OPEX) the puts solidly outnumber the calls up to 650 which should give us some downside protection but there is again a large wall of calls at 650.

At what point will we be able to confirm the downtrend may be over? That really depends on your timeframe and how you define an up or downtrend. If you had to push me for a number, then I would say a close over 678 on the daily chart. This is because I use a displaced moving average to gauge up and down trends. Others would say a close on the daily to get us over the 50 DMA, which is around 654. In short, there is no absolute hard and fast rule.

And as for Ibanez -- well what can I say! Jeter had an ankle injury that was suppose to be nothing but he was really gimpy last night - wonder if he will be in the next line up - I am guessing they will wrap the crap out of that ankle and he will play thru it

Very quiet in here, I guess everyone is as shocked as I am to see AAPL under-perform so badly.

looks pretty weak now, though the markets on the whole are tumbling over the last 15-30min so I guess it's not as bad.
still bad though.

A friend of mine is a client at Canaccord and he let's them do all his trading for him. They finally got him into a few shares of Apple before the last big runup (bought around $590) but talked him into selling the other day around $638. They told him because of technicals and daily moving averages that it was going to tank and could see $550. What would you say to him besides finding a new broker? :-)

The Galaxy Nexus is hardly worth worrying about at this point. It makes up very little of Samdung's sales ...
I'm not sure anyone can point to a reason for this selloff , I just keep reminding myself how many times we've seen this action before only to recover. I still see NO change in Apple's business that would lead to such a sale so I'll chalk it up to chartists and traders having their fun.
