I was disappointed that Angela Ahrendts didn't feature in Monday's event. Apparently Christy Burlington Burns was the first woman to appear on stage at an Apple presentation in five years.

I'd like to recommend again this article for anyone who missed it from late in yesterday's thread: @ihnatko: Part 1 of my Apple Event writeup is on @suntimes. Communism, TV, and the 2 most important products Apple makes. t.co/biOCshoFMN

Yep - and forgive me, but I found her completely unimpressive and that whole little segment was a bit cheesy to me. Maybe I should write TC and tell him why he screwed up on that one in a myriad of ways!

I still cringe when I think about it.

Can just anyone walk into those events? Wouldn't they need Apple permission to get it? Meaning that this is paid-for, clever promotion?

It held so far anyways. I think we will wash out down to the .5 fib personally or in between the two. But I'm watching.

Is it true that the reason we are getting hit is because of some sort of global iTune outage?! If that is the case BTFD!

Is it true that the reason we are getting hit is because of some sort of global iTune outage?! If that is the case BTFD! The reason doesn't really matter. Ends up just trying to make me justify a long when price is telling me otherwise (caveat: again I'm a short term trader)

Thank you for the link to Ben Thompson's article. I had missed the idea that the most valuable role of the watch might be to let smart devices know we were there. In 1986, I was fortunate enough to work in the SmallTalk research lab at Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon. Tektronix was one of four companies ( the others were Apple, IBM, and HP) who were given much of the research that came out of Xerox PARC after Xerox decided that they were not a computer company. I remember learning about PARC and the amazing things that they were doing. Even before 1980, they had created Ethernet, OOP, GUIs and tablets. As I struggled to edit code with vi, I felt like I was making stone tools while these guys were playing with lasers. Over the years, it has been easy to visualize the direction of progress in the industry by just projecting the spread of these ideas as 35 years later ( 35 years! ) these ideas work there way into the mainstream. I suspect that much of Apples vision and success has been based on taking these ideas and moving them into the mainstream. It is to Apple's credit that they could do this. Development is much harder IMO than research. But one idea that PARC developed seemed to be forgotten. I remember reading about a smart conference room where the room recognized who was there from transmitters on badges and configured an electronic whiteboard to allow access to the files of the people in attendance. Your slideshows and spreadsheets were just there when you needed them. Now the watch provides that same link and capability. As Mr Thompson pointed out, Apple will rely on others to create many of the devices that use this, but the potential is there. If this happens, the watch will not just be a convenience, it will be required in order to exist digitally. You get in your car and hit start..the car knows who you are, adjusts the seat and mirrors. Walk into a store and you get notifications about the products you were looking at last night on the web. Your stereo knows the playlists of everyone in the room. I will let you extend the list, but you get the idea. I am not sure how far I want this to go, but then it is not up to me. I guess I can always opt to leave the watch on the dresser

I remember lots of complaints about the 2010 Airs too. 4 years later and I'm still pretty happy with that purchase. The new MacBook probably won't suit power users, but I don't think that they make up a huge % of the Mac customer base, especially not the people buying a Mac because they love their iPhone.

119.30 from the double bottom at 105 I know of one buyer with $20B+ left to spend that probably thinks this is a pretty good deal.
