We'll probably have the new iTunes at the Oct 23 unveiling too. I for one am looking forward for more reliable Wifi syncing on Windows. Maybe you should quit syncing with windows. ;D Couldn't help myself.

24 rumored variations any guesses:
heres mine: four colors: Two capablities (wifi+4g/LTE): three GB variants (16:32:64)
or if no colors
Two colors(Black white): three capabilities (wifi+3g+4g/LTE): Four GB variants (8:16:32:64)
My thinking is they will either give the color options or the 8GB option to entice the children/pre teen crowd.

We're back to fighting the 649 wall again. If we close above 650 today it'll be a bullish catalyst for the rest of the week which could possibly take us to 670. Needless to say, we're guaranteed to have lotsa fun next week for sure Dream, why fight it, lets just jump over it tomorrow. Baby steps..... $15 baby steps Ha haa! Another $15 up tomorrow would be great. Especially for me because I have ~$21000 riding on the Oct 650s that expire this Friday.

That was good. Fairly ambivalent about the Surface. The reporters didn't know if it was only a consumer product or also enterprise. The two reporters were low-jargon, but should have been more explicit that "not coincidence" about product releases ---> iPad, iPad mini or a distant set of bananas falling over some hurdles on the back stretch while iPad afterburners are not even lit yet.

Raj I always admire your, for less than a better term, balls. I bailed and rolled out my 625/635 and 650/660 last week. I was shook! I mean they are still making money now, but tons of $ off the table. Rootin for ya ;D edit: if we crack 650 here at the end, i feel like its a guarantee that AAPL gaps up tomorrow. maybe i'll put my money where my mouth is but im a bit scared after the pain I took last week.

$150 extra for a keyboard on the Surface. And they are advertising that "unique feature" quite a bit. Of course, you can get one here from Monoprice for your iPad for as little as $25, with silicon or mechanical keys www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=ipad+ke... I haven't used either, but at that pricepoint I'd definitely think about grabbing one if I was going on a trip and bringing an iPad instead of a laptop, especially after my last short trip. Typing a little on the iPad screen is fine, but I'm much better at using a keyboard, and it would have saved some significant time when asking for help on some issues I was fixing on that friend's 3000gt.

Dammit I'm so annoyed I missed this big move!! I don't know what to do now... Should I just buy right now or maybe we will see a small move down early tomorrow? Depends on what you are looking at. For stock, go for it now, though there might be a dip late in the week. For longer term options, the same thing but if the price sticks here though Friday prices should theoretically be lowering, though upcoming earnings and keynote might hold them steady, and sometimes with spreads any changes cancel out. For short term options, it all depends on how short, and how bullish, you are looking at. Like has been said, it's likely the stock will close at or below 650 this Friday. But a push 5 points up or down could happen, even if temporary. Back to longer term options, if you think that after this wave of Oct options expire that the spring will be let loose, then these next few days would be the time. Personally, I have a bunch of Oct's expiring, and if things are still looking solid on Friday, I'll borrow some extra money for the weekend to make some purchases. 1.5% on a large amount for 3 days is still very reasonable. Heck, even borrowing a million would be just $123. That said, sometimes the stock has a letdown after a keynote or earnings. It's not a sure thing that this is the best time to buy, though it's likely that it's pretty good. But if you are really worried about that sort of thing, just split your purchase up into a couple chunks, buying some now, and saving some for when you think it might be better.

AAPL is such a tease, hovering right around $650. 6 more minutes to blow past it for a great close.

FYI there are >30,000 650 calls expiring Friday. It will be interesting to see how OI distribution changes over the next couple of days... (I see the tattered remains of big dreams: >40,000 at both $700 and $750. I bet those don't change much between now & Fri!)

My plan is to buy some shares to keep until we get back to 700 and then sell to make some fast money for that Lotus we were talking about I might buy tomorrow morning, we'll see!

My comment on Katy Huberty is that her comments are all over the map. No matter what, she will hit one of those target as well as any shotgun blindfolded. Pick a target and defend it until proven wrong or you officially change your mind. My latest home game estimates has iPhones at 22.5M, 2.5M lower than Huberty's. I lower iPads to 15M and what do I get? A higher EPS. Something is obviously wrong with the profitability assumptions there...

This is the week before earnings, and you have to hope that this is a repeat of the same week in Oct. '11. Perhaps we have another 14.1% rise like we did that week (it went from 369.80 to 422 from EOD on 10-7-11 to EOD on 10-14-11), which would put us at 718.50, an ATH.
We also set an ATH on 10-14-11 when who would have thunk it on the previous Friday, when things were going nowhere.
How cool would that be?
