Things are moving along in a positive way in Greece. Their Parliament voted to move ahead with the proposal and the so-called “institutions” European Commission, European Central Bank and IMF, said that the Greek proposals could be a foundation for a new bailout programme under “certain conditions”, according to two officials: www.ft.com/cms/s/0/0b88481a-27ba-11e5-8db8-c033edba8a6e.html#ixzz3fa00Z3uxOf course the Germans or Austrians can always throw a wrench into it but it seems to be going down the right path for a positive market opening (Guess they never read about the Marshall Plan ... must have skipped that chapter in their history books). In the meantime on the other end of the world I highly doubt that China will be down much if at all given all the new restrictions the government has imposed on sellers - the government has made it clear that their market can only go up. Full stop. But let's be clear - "that ain't good" - aesthetically it may create "peace and harmony" so I guess it portrays a positive for markets (and hopefully Apple as well) they may actually respond in good way - but we've been forewarned with what can happen in those markets (in general) down the road. Looking forward to Sunday night's opening but first need to enjoy the delightful beach weather we are having on the east coast and my wedding anniversary - celebrating this weekend even though it's really on Monday! Oh by the way, I got the blue quilted venezia leather loop band for my stainless Watch. A MILLION times better than that white silicone thing! NO COMPARISON! It's the bomb!

Had a WTF experience with my first use of Apple Pay. Went into Passbook and tapped on the card I wanted to use (foolishly thinking that was all I needed to do). Of course it used my default card - no big deal but very counterintuitive. When was the last time you had to read the instructions and f perform a BASIC function on an Apple product (watch not included).

Daniel Tello, better known as Deagol, has his estimates out for the June quarter. And he gives a shoutout to Mav! aaplmodel.blogspot.comIf Apple does report mid $1.90's with any kind of decent guidance,......come on!

Hey question for those of you who use the watch to exercise as well. No matter what I am on - ie bike, elliptical, rower, etc. - the watch ALWAYS gives me a LOWER caloric burn count than any of my machines....which isn't making me too happy because I stay on longer to achieve my caloric goal. Why is this so? Anyone?

Cheers to all those who bought the dip. As for myself, not a lot of dry powder these days. Spending the first week in my new AAPL-bought home. Congratulations, JD. Hope your new digs bring you much happiness.

Anyone? I am pretty sure that the Wall Street analysts who forecast earnings and Apple performance provided the numbers on how many calories are burned per unit time on those machines. They never give Apple or anyone associated with Apple proper credit for performance. If you don't like that theory, then here is another one. I see the exact same thing you do on my elliptical. I have been wondering why, even though I have always thought that the elliptical over estimated calorie burn. The Apple Watch can have no knowledge of all the required variables that contribute to calorie consumption. For example, how can it know the resistance? It can't. So if you have two people of the exact same weight, one on resistance 5 and the other on 10, and their heart rates are identical, I would bet that the watch gives the same result. Also assuming they have the same stride rate. But the person on resistance 10 will burn more calories. Apple must make some assumptions about the work involved in using an elliptical, but the machine itself doesn't need to do that. It knows all the necessary variables. Apple's assumptions could underestimate actual calorie burn. I have also noticed that the watch consistently shows a lower heart rate than the chest strap that came with the elliptical. Typically 0-5 bbm. Either that or you lied to the watch about your age and weight.

It seems they want to hear more about the Watch, a bit player to Apple's financials. Anecdotally, everyone who sees my Watch with the Milanese band is impressed -- it's the first time they've seen one in the wild. I think the Watch has long legs, but baby steps occur before strides. I put new money in Wednesday and bought Thursday when AAPL was was being sold by others to buy MSFT on the news that the latter was laying off 8,000 staff. WS has proof that Microsoft is shrinking on its collective failures and gives it a P/E of 18. A 17 P/E for AAPL produces $150 PPS on trailing earnings after June's report on July 21.

I checked my stocks from deep in the woods along the Pacific Crest Trail yesterday morning during a five-day backpacking trip, and saw we were down to about 120 after starting the week at 125. This happens every time I go on vacation. As a result I was pissed off on the last day of my hike, but when I got back on the highway I saw we had recovered somewhat.

It's such a shame that we can't take a vacation and not take a peek. I am by far the absolute worst! We should all be like my mom. She just turned 85 and each year she goes on a trip because after all, "At my age it may be my last one sweetie!" - but she won't even take a cell phone with her! She leaves it at home. When I ask her how will I know if she arrived fine or if everything is ok she just responds with, "Turn on the news - if it's catastrophic they'll let you know - anything short of that and I'll be fine." So off to the Greek islands on a cruise she went ... No idea how it's going till she lands back in Athens. She has a clear head - wish I could be more like that! Hakuna Matata

That chest strap is really old, so it may not be as accurate as the watch.

Word of warning. This guy used to post at Braeburn. He had some of the absolute goofiest ideas I have ever heard re investing in Apple. One of the all time classics was that the iPhone being so light was a disadvantage because the price per ounce was so high. He thought it should be heavier for that reason. Anyone can post at SA regardless of qualifications.

I reached the same eps of 1.95 and I think I am rather conservative. WS seems to have similar estimates, so I don't think we will react as forcefully as we expect following earnings. OI sure paints of bleak picture for any significant movement until at least August. Love my Apple Watch. Tried the golf shot app and it was not accurate enough for functional use. I think exercise tracking is questionable as well. But the look and use for messaging, notification, and Apple Pay more then makes up for the short comings. With my use I can get 2 full days out of it. I think TC can't be happy with production capacity at the moment. I still think we will sell millions for Christmas. Expect a nice stock pop come February and March 2016 as a result.

Open interest does not have a hammer lock on AAPL post-earnings and something's got to give with PPS with P/E so compressed.
Having said that, I wish people would stay the F out of short term options. You are NOT helping the price of AAPL.

Let me pull a Chris Pratt and apologize ahead of time for everything I will say over the weekend about the Europeans and the Eurogroup ... and also let me preface it with that I am first generation born in this country of European parents. HOWEVER The EU rules give any country the right of veto. Finland has just vetoed the Greek bailout proposal. Whose stupid idea was this anyway? ugh....let the games begin. My understanding is that the ESM needs 85% of an approval vote to have measures pass but I'm not certain on that. Schauble is being incredibly stubborn. Does this count as speaking about politics?

I found the Golfshot app very accurate. My friend had a $300 Garmin golf GPS and it was very close to that. Daniel Tello, better known as Deagol, has his estimates out for the June quarter. Zzmac
I found it to be accurate only at the tee box.
Out in the fairway many times I would be next to the 100 yard and 150 yard markers and the app would be off by 10-15 yards.
Stand alone gps units are always better. The gps in the phone can be off by as much as 20 feet. Not sure it is a carrier issue or hardware in the iPhone.
Either way I still managed a few pars and enjoyed having my Apple Watch notifying me during the game and not having to pull my iPhone out of my pocket.

The reaction to the April earnings report cured me forever of believing that I understand in any way how the market values companies, which is why I have left the investment decisions for most of the money I have managed to invest to professionals. I just happened to get lucky with the only one I did, based on fondness for the company and love of their products. For example, here's a thought experiment. Let's assume that the analysts are approximately correct about Apple's earning for this quarter. Now, let's suppose that next fiscal year they turned in the same exact quarterly numbers; that's right, 0% YOY growth. What do you think would happen to the already ridiculously low P/E? The company would still be making money hand over fist.

Not seeing this yet in the NYT, which is running breaking news on it. It wouldn't surprise me if they let Greece go. Sounds very touch and go at the moment.

Have you had really good results with them? If so, I was obviously very bad in the distant past, when I used to use investment professionals, because I was never able to choose even one that came anywhere close to what AAPL has done over the years. >> I just happened to get lucky with the only one I didLuck is not a bad thing when it comes to investing. In any case, glad you're doing well with your investments and I hope it continues. Especially your lucky investment.

How did you keep your iPhone charged for that long? I did a hard shutdown and only occasionally used an app to identify birds and their calls. I didn't really want to keep in touch much in the wilderness, and I saved the power for possible emergencies and for listening to an audiobook on the four hour drive home. Still had 75% charge at the trailhead after five days of hiking.

While you were gone we saw more bears than you would ever expect to see in the forest. Tuesday, we found a fir tree that had its lower bark peeled off in big shreds by the claws of a Black Bear, which then used its teeth to scrape the inner bark for nutrition. It was warning me that it could do the same thing to an Apple tree.
