I'd be curious to hear people's Wild Guesses for where we go from here... Based on technicals, fundamentals/PE research, or just gut feelings. Anyone? A range of 120-135 until Oct. A p/e of 15.5 max. P/e keeps contracting from the high of 18.6 in Dec 2014. WS is worried iPhone demand will drop. January will give them more color, but it remains to be seen if we start expanding p/e even then. Despite market share gains WS is not impressed. I really thought that would make a difference, but even with evidence via IDC numbers and stellar iPhone sales to switchers, WS wants more proof. Not sure what more Apple can do to show them that the iPhone and Apple Watch have great growth ahead.

I dunno, I think we're in the wrong stock. AMZN is up $60 AH I believe @$550 per share, AMZN now more valuable than WMT..... such insanity.... finance.yahoo.com/q?s=AMZNAmazon celebrated Prime Day on July 15th, a global shopping event that offered Prime members more deals than Black Friday. More new members tried Prime worldwide than any single day in Amazon history. Customers purchased more units on Prime Day than Black Friday 2014, and saved millions of dollars on deals around the world. Sellers using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) also benefited, experiencing record-breaking unit sales on Prime Day. phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=176060&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2070675

The market isn't letting us run but it's good to see GOOG and AMZN take a small beating Up $81, 17% up, is a small beating? When can AAPL get that?

If the AMZN chart is so sexy, why not take some shares out on a date before earnings? Think he is referring to longer term, short-term seems to be going down towards $440 (or may be lower to $420, may be higher at $460). The worse forecast ever by me

Apple Music is flat out atrocious. I am full of regret for activating it. It is terrible terrible terrible. It has totally fucked my whole library It's either one of 2 things: 1. It's a problem that was created deliberately (like the Taylor Swift thing) in order to direct attention to it. As in, you create a problem and then solve it, and everybody says "Oh, it's OK now, so it's OK to use it". 2. It's an actual mistake brought on by the (counter-productive) alliance with Major Label "Dipshits" like Jimmy Iovine and his slimey clueless hopeless Music Industry Has-been Pals.

It's really not necessary and by the looks of things MUST HAVE brought in a bunch of buddy buddy chuckle heads from the Major Label Click to work on the project. Just trust me on this one, that's how these Bozos operate. I used to work in that Racket. Let this be a cautionary tale. These are the dangers of trusting in Music Industry hype.

Skywork Solutions Inc reported a Q3 EPS of $1.34 vs. $1.28, prompting analysts to conclude that their assumption was right about the key Apple Inc. AAPL suppliers. Apple expert Sean Udall is among those who believed that if Skyworks, QRVO and NXP Semiconductors performed as well as Cirrus Logic, Inc. Apple would rebound. "Skyworks' numbers that have come up validates, again, there is a fundamental, inherent strength in Apple's core business," Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry told Benzinga. Udall thought Cirrus' results were more impressive, but there may be a reason for that. "I think the reason the beat isn't bigger is they had guided up already," Udall told Benzinga. "Very solid number. It's not a barn-burner number like Cirrus had, which makes sense." Udall attributed Skyworks' positive results to Apple but indicated that it could have been more successful if it had a smaller mix of Android products. He said this makes it harder for the company to "beat as much as they used to." Greater Revenue For Apple? Chowdhry said that Apple's results were actually better than many investors realized. "They did not say that in the press release, but in the conference call Apple mentioned that their profits would have been 9 percent higher than reported on a constant currency basis, the way Google reported and others," Chowdhry explained. "That is, without taking the currency fluctuations, Apple revenue would have been $53.73 billion and the EPS would have been $2.54. And the guidance that they gave, $49 to $51 billion, in constant currency that would have been $53.4 to $55.6 billion. What it means is, Apple's numbers are not bad!" Chowdhry dismissed those who said Apple's results were bad and said that "none of them are accurate." "The numbers you see from the supply chain, on a constant currency basis, those numbers will also be very good," he said. "If you take that at the benchmark, these companies are doing fabulous. On a constant currency basis, Apple's growth rate is more than 30 percent -- Google is only 18." www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/15/07/5699898/skyworks-solutions-earnings-results-show-a-fundamental-sCan I get an AMEN?

Why didn't AAPL just report in constant currency, if that's acceptable from other companies?

Why didn't AAPL just report in constant currency, if that's acceptable from other companies? I am not sure they want the stock to go up too much. They need more time to raise domestic cash for buyback and dividends. Weak guidance has kept the stock in check for 6 months. Not beating by too much also helped. They could have stuffed the channel. Aggressive Apple Watch rollout could have given them an extra billion or two in revenue. They are moving slowly and deliberately by design. We must be patient. We have more then doubled in 2 years and I am sure next year at this time we have anguish again with lows of the year again. Every summer we go nowhere despite good numbers. The market wants quick moves and there are plenty of stocks right now that can achieve that in the positive direction. No hurry to buy Apple despite solid growth. It was clear just like in January 2014 that they wanted to drop the stock. We went down 8% in less then 15 seconds both times. I was concerned when I saw huge volume in 125 puts on Tuesday. Now I know why.

Sen. Al Franken Urges Federal Probe Of Apple Music Posted 23 hours ago by Lucas Matney (@lucas_matney) Apple’s hefty fees on in-app subscription services are being called into serious question. In a letter addressed to both the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice, Sen. Al Franken called on federal regulators to look into possible Apple Music antitrust violations in the music streaming market. Franken pointed to a number of non-competitive guidelines that he believes suppress app developers and stifle innovations that benefit the consumer. Increased competition in the music-streaming market should mean that consumers will ultimately benefit through more choices of better products and at lower prices,” Franken wrote in today’s letter. “I am concerned, however, that Apple’s position as a dominant platform operator may actually undermine many of the potential consumer benefits of its entry into the market. To protect consumer choice and promote greater transparency of pricing, I ask that you review Apple’s business practices with respect to its competitors in the music streaming market.” Of particular interest to the Minnesota Democrat was the hefty 30 percent fee on recurring in-app purchases that Apple is currently shaking down other app developers for. For a subscription service like Spotify that generally runs the standard streaming rate of $9.99 per month, that means them having to tack on an extra $3 per for subscription sales that are facilitated through the app. Spotify has been trying to raise awareness of this issue over the past few weeks by urging consumers to sign up for the service through the Spotify website rather than through the App Store (for $12.99), and save three bucks in the process. In doing so, they’re making a pretty obvious statement on how they believe Apple’s fee structure is directly harming consumers and making the music streaming market less competitive. Subscribers to Apple Music obviously don’t have to worry about paying the company an extra $3 to use the service. Franken isn’t the only one raising flags about whether Apple Music is harming consumers. Yesterday, The Verge reported that the FTC had already begun issuing subpoenas to music streaming services as they looked into the issue. While Apple runs a great platform that facilitates a number of sales for other music streaming services, 30 percent really is way too steep a fee for recurring in-app purchases, especially when deals with record companies pretty much mandate the $10 monthly subscription price as a minimum price point. Apple charging a much lower 10 percent fee per month would definitely be more palatable, but perhaps Apple shouldn’t be collecting monthly fees on recurring in-app purchases at all. A one-time 30 percent fee on the first month for facilitating the sign-up transaction seems perfectly reasonable, and helps consumers not to get slammed with sustained high monthly fees for other services. Franken is right to herald Apple in his letter for its innovation, which has enabled the App Store to garner so many subscriptions for developers, but he’s also correct to bring about the assertion that it’s time for them to change up their fee structures so as to benefit consumers. Apple did manage to appease Taylor Swift (no small feat); let’s see if it can do the same with Al Franken. techcrunch.com/2015/07/22/sen-al-franken-urges-federal-probe-of-apple-music/As a conservative Minnesotan, I have never had the inclination to vote for Al.

I spent the late afternoon putting Apple Music through the paces and I'm of the same opinion: I LOVE it for music discovery. So far, it recognizes all the songs that are in my iTunes library and those it doesn't, it allows me to add them. What are the chances Dalrymple had a corrupted iTunes library before Apple Music made it obvious?
Apple needs to FIX whatever is wrong with it but I have no complaints (except for the repeated requests for credentials noted earlier).

Okay, two things. From now on I'm always clicking on Artman's posted images whether I'm interested or not just to see what good looking women show up in the images below. Secondly, (warning: Car Talk ahead) I had signed up for one of Mazda's Launch addition Miata's so I've been spending quite a bit of time in that world. The car looks fantastic and the reviews have been over the top but I turned down delivery a couple of days ago because of a dealer I was less than happy with in Miami so I'll be finding one later and elsewhere. One of the lead designers on the project was a guy named Derek Jenkins. He did the talking at the U.S. intro and while he's no SJ he handled it pretty well. For those of you that remember the VW Microbus concept that was never built (gorgeous) it was also reportedly his baby. Well, today this little tidbit showed up. I'm sure you can guess what I'm thinking. jalopnik.com/mazda-design-director-leaves-for-mysterious-stealth-pro-1719807055
