No, thank you. I've seen enough blood for one day. I will enjoy a couple of good micro-brews, though.

Scotch for me, maybe some JW Blue Label I got a bottle sitting around. I posted this in the Friday thread just wanted to reiterate (mostly for some reassurance ) I currently have 123 shares. Plan is to sell 23 of them on Monday and roll them into Feb 13 625-650 BCS. If AAPL trades for 653 by February it's a 153% return. My first option trade, wish me luck. Feb 14 is my bday, hopefully I will receive a nice present. If not I'll be enjoying some wild turkey instead of Blue Label : )

Fortune cookie fortune after Chinese dinner just now "Persistence and patience will be rewarded". How accurate and timely was that? With eyes on the 1yr horizon, I'm off to some Extra Pale Ale....

Not necessarily in that order.

This is where I start my ..."Wouldn't it be great if... " scenarios. So for starters - wouldn't it be great if TC said he had one more thing for us and tells us he signed a deal with China mobile...or splits the stock ....or comes up with a universal remote inbedded in the iPad mini....or whatever." I really don't like that all the surprise has been taken out of AAPL. I guess I'm a kid at heart and loved waiting for that extra special little surprise that Steve would give us at the end. Truth is - we knew iPhone 5 was coming (understandable) but pictures were leaked - the new connector was divulged, the thinness of the phone, the screen, etc. Hey maybe it's part of the whole marketing/delivery thing and there is a method to their new madness but I REALLY liked that special element of surprise.

Good Luck. I'm still learning the option lingo from the experts here. Your idea sounds solid to me though. This is my .02 for podboy

GOOG was a factor in derailing the entire market this week.
Problem is, the $571B baby was thrown out with the bathwater. A "benefit" is reduced expectations leading into next week - after all, there's really only one logical way you price in bad news or what you think will be bad news. (And that ain't the AMZN theory of valuation.)
One day at a time. Recall iPhone 5 event minus two days or so. Let's see what Monday brings.

We need to be patient. These storms will pass. We had one last Oct when Steve passed away, then again a month later when we hit 363, then again in May when we hit 520, then in July when we hit 570. Guess what? We still get higher every 6 months.
Trust me we will all be very happy come April. I see 800+. Just be patient for 6 more months .
Go for a walk and enjoy the great outdoors this weekend.

Yup! Bigger picture, it's higher highs. Keep perspective, and also try to be as nimble as possible.

Everything aapl should be OK in a "short while" ................ barring a political/econ induced general market meltdown. FWIW, I have ramped back up to an overweight aapl position and today was no bueno for me. cheers to the longs JohnG

We are awfully close to the lower Bollinger Band on the daily chart. Don't we usually bounce off this?
Even in the dark days of April, May and July, hitting the lower BB provided a nice bounce over the next couple of days.
So, I took a look at the daily chart for the last 18 months. During this time, we hit the lower BB a total of eight times and bounced off it. During that same time, we hit the 200-day once (11/25/11), and the 100-day six times. There was also one situation where we broke the 200-day, but rebounded off the lower BB (6/20/11).
I am going to WAG that we bounce on Monday. Let's hope for the best.
Good luck to all the longs.

I think we actually closed BELOW the lower BB. This doesn't last long and only comes a few times a year during those infamous WTF sales. Mbeauch already mentioned this... this is the 4th red week in a row. Extremely rare and we didn't even get that during the brutal selloff earlier this year. Several weeks of up usually occurs after an event like this.

I hear ya, but note Steve didn't always have a "one more thing." and now that Apple is so much bigger, and they have to try to make 50M iPhones in a quarter, it's much harder if not impossible to keep it a secret when you consider the many points in the supply chain. that said, let's hope we get a surprise or two this week! p.s. have a good weekend, I always enjoy your posts.

Why Mav? they supply you with the connector, what is the problem? Apple made the decision to move to the new connector for many reasons, to me the best one is the additional speaker on the bottom of the phone, you can actually hear the phone play music. I for one do not think Apple would announce anything with te ipad3 at this event, this is the mini's event, she should be the star of the show. That is unless they come out with some new iMac's. (not holding my breath)

I expect Business Insider or some other trash site to start bashing Apple soon for not making the connector change a software update that all of us should have got for free in iOS 6.

Another source has iPad to get minor updates announced at Tuesdays mini event. www.theverge.com/2012/10/19/3528836/ipad-lightning-port-refresh-rumorAccording to a new report from 9to5Mac, the fabled iPad mini won't be the only tablet talk at Apple's press event next week, with sources now claiming that the company's 9.7-inch model will also undergo a refresh. The site claims that the full-sized iPad will not receive a comprehensive redesign, but instead will undergo a number of minor upgrades, which are expected to include integration of Apple's Lightning connector. The new and improved iPad will not, however, expand upon the current storage capacity or pricing structure of the current model. The refresh would come within a year of the latest iPad's introduction, which may become a sore spot for early adopters. However, as it demonstrated earlier this year with its quiet revisions to the iPad 2, Apple is unafraid to make less substantive tweaks to its existing products. Apple's event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23rd, at 10:00AM PST, and we'll be there live blogging. Tune in to find out if a refreshed iPad will be joining the iPad mini and a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display as part of Apple's rumored agenda.

Makes sense to me. Going into the holiday season, with iPhone 5 and (presumably) iPad Mini sporting brand new connectors, who would buy a brand new iPad with an old connector knowing that it's being phased out?

It does make very good sense, it's just that some of us 20+ million Limited Edition™ iPad owners might grumble a bit about still having to switch out Lightning and Dock Connector cables. I know, such a terrible situation.

Well, I went to play poker tonight. Got in a low limit (2-10 spread) game at my local casino, won 450 and even won a promotional drawing for 200. Everyone at the table thought I was a very lucky guy. If they only knew how much my portfolio got whacked today...
Still, I'll be buying groceries with other peoples money this month, which is one of my favorite things to do. And it took my mind off AAPL for a few hours.
Sunday, I will help my nephew celebrate his 23rd birthday with his fiance and the rest of his family. I'm really looking forward to that.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

I there. Another old time reader, decided to register and post for the first time... Still learning, but I hope I can learn faster if I ask questions from time to time, and who knows in a while someone might learn a thing or two from my posts.. I think Mav is saying what we will hear all week, this is the new "gate" or other wtf terms that will be used to shake Appl further. PS: English is not my native language, please forgive some not good enough sentences.

Well, I had some greyhounds tonight. By "some" I mean a whole 59oz grapefruit juice bottle worth. The sugar seems to mitigate hangovers nicely. I e-mailed OCC today not to wipe the freaking OTM options to zero on Fridays, and they didn't! Stk Calls Puts 600 11,134 25,868 605 2,330 11,708 610 4,930 10,589 615 10,673 8,632 620 12,912 10,794 625 12,863 10,955 630 20,237 11,895 635 14,258 9,964 640 17,224 9,682 645 18,317 9,317 650 30,111 11,614 655 16,242 5,986 660 21,348 9,873 665 16,260 7,825 670 27,305 7,285 675 16,456 5,291 680 25,057 5,893 685 9,717 2,317 690 16,323 3,430 695 10,360 2,041 700 36,900 3,318 and my personal favorite, 750 39,595 6,764 It would appear that the EO's took a hit on the 610's with the 609.84 close, but didn't do all that bad - the 615+ retail call lemmings apparently did their usual death grip to the end. So huge net gain for EO's overall. Look at all those dead calls. Even on a day like Friday, the EO's win again.
