Oh and a one more thing.... We have reached an agreement with China Mobile Do you have a link for that? That sounds like pretty big news, if true. I haven't seen any mention of that on any of the Apple sites which I frequent, and a quick search on Google news didn't show anything. Edit - Oh, I get it, you're just fantasizing about what you want to happen tomorrow.

Clarity of posts is always appreciated.
And news links are a must when there _is_ big news like that.
But yeah, it was a "sure would be nice."

I think it's good for 1-2% or so on day of announcement. Sales are what matters for this stock. Eventually CM will have an impact but this is a "put up or shut up" stock. Apple will have to "put up" with CM before we get a significant boost from it.

I am shocked that none of you Pop Culture savvy Apple experts are giving Taylor Swift any credit for this $24.19 gain day.
Swift's new CD Red went on sale at Midnight on iTunes and if you include the "track a day" advance sales, she had already moved 4 million downloads by this early morning.
4 million X $1.29 a download and Apple gets what? 30%? of that and then we're talking real revenue.
Forget Doug Kass, we need to believe in Taylor Swift!

Even though I know what will come next, I have to say I missed the fun this afternoon. Had a room to paint and I thought today was just an oversold bounce, so I did not even look at the market. Needless to say, me happy.

I think I need to change my user name to "Chicken Little". I rolled out my Jan 13 665/680 BCSs to Apr 13. But somehow I'm breathing easier.
I hope the shorts took it big time in their shorts today.

And there we have it. My 636 prediction for Monday is met. Great prognostication, any more predictions for the next couple of days. Even with this move up today, we are still in a downtrend on the weekly chart. The last couple of hours looked like someone was running a buy program to complete the mean reversion that I was anticipating on Friday. That being the case, I yet again have little faith there will be much follow through tomorrow regardless of various claims of a breakout. Of course, news can trump technicals, so it's difficult to say. If there was no event tomorrow, then purely from a technical perspective, I would be looking at some of this move being retraced. Once again, though, all sorts of wacky stuff happens when we have an event or earnings.

I may be out of my smaller AAPL BCS trade depending on how things go the first couple hours of trading.
I don't see much upside in the iPad mini event, due in part to the hyperfocus on perceived quality (via the screen resolution) and perceived "competitive pricing" (the pundits seem to want under $300, as low as $249 to start).
Either way, I can spend more time following the event than worrying about my portfolio. Of course, all just my rusty 2 cents.

Great day for the longs! But like any day, stay sharp. When I think I might have regrets about the timing of upside trades, I paraphrase Ensign: "I don't need all the profits, just less of the losses." I thought it was "none of the losses."

Congrats appledoc! What are you going into? OBGYN. I'm pretty sure I want to do GYN oncology. But I have a little bit of time before I need to advance down that path.

That was a powerful move today. Very impressive. Where to tomorrow or the next day? Who knows. I'm sure the EO's can find a way to manipulate the stock price down on either some "failure" of the iPad Mini, or something in the earnings this week, so I'm still sitting on plenty of dry powder to take full advantage should there be more pullbacks in our future. I also have plenty of holdings to profit from any run to new ATH's (BCS's AND my untouchable shares). So I win either way they want to play it. And, one last thing, Doug can kiss my Kass!

They're worried about margin erosion due to the Mini but they want the low price to drive volume. Haha. Apple can't win. Yeah right. I am hoping like hell the entry price is over $300 because Apple will be able to get it.

I don't care as long as Apple prices the iPad mini below $399 . $329 to start is fine by me. And if enough in education ask for it maybe Apple will make a special version of that "magic" $299 price point. I care more about the competitive offering. Obviously gotta wait until tomorrow to see what Apple serves up.

I am crossing my fingers for a retina display mini iPad, even if it hits around 399.
IMHO, a non-retina display mini ipad will be pretty meh, even if at 299. If Apple just takes the current iPad 2 screen resolution and sizes it down to a 7.85" screen, this would well be below the resolution of the Kindle HD and Nexus 7.
Also iPod touch is 299 so not sure how the product lines will interact at this price point.

The biggest issue tomorrow will revolve around price. I think even more so than features or anything else. There are money managers out there who own AAPL and are suggesting that anything without a "2" in front of it will be hugely disappointing. Let's hope this launch goes better than our experience with the last launch. There will be shots taken no matter what so prepare for the fud but I don't care what is said...AAPL will own this space - at every size!

Let's just remember that the same pack of geniuses were slamming Apple a while back for not joining the race to the bottom with NetBooks. Money managers should stick to what they do best - losing other people's money, instead of deluding themselves into thinking that they have a clue on how Apple should price its products.

Funny because I'll be hugely disappointed if there's anything less than a "3" in front of it. Apple has proved its ability to get people to "pay up" for quality. The Mini will be no different. With that said, I can live with a $299 entry price.

Quite frankly - it really is an easy fix - just have a few different models and make the least expensive one $299. Although let's be honest - if it was $349 would you seriously not buy it? Somehow I think you would find a way but what the heck do I know. One thing I would have loved would have been a few colors just to make it even more attractive for kids. Extremely doubtful that will be the case...but that's what we have cases for I guess.
