Oh Good Grief. I guess the US economy is 3% less valuable today than it was yesterday, or 15% less valuable than it was last July. What the hell is everyone putting their money in as they sell off, frigging Treasury Notes, Junk Bonds. Wall Street has been and still is broken, run by crooks and idiots. Sorry for the rant, please carry on. Just for a little perspective, in AAPL stock pricing prior to the last spilt we would be at $679.91 right now.

A little too conservative. He actually lowered his iPhone numbers for 2016 based on the same stories about decreased manufacturing. I should point out that I do agree with his stock price target for January 2017. I don't think WS understands how popular the iPhone is. Just made the switch to TMobile for the family today. Saving $110 a month and adding an extra iPhone. They were very busy with lots of iPhone sales. Verizon and ATT have to be feeling the pain from those switching.

Car talk not being appropriate is urban legend propagated by those that feel compelled to go outside, turn around 3 times and spit whenever it comes up. This presumably wards off the evil spirits of AAPL investing that are somehow threatened by an optimistic outlook. We have a 2008 3 series wagon, normally aspirated (no forced induction aka. turbo's) with a sports suspension and a manual transmission. It has close to one hundred thousand miles on it. Only repair to date was an electronic control module that was replaced under warranty. Absolutely love the damn thing and most likely will never replace it unless BMW decides to start importing similar vehicles again someday. Bill I know car talk had nothing to do with the week we just had.....but still So it's YOU that's the superstitious one. Not some unnamed others that I'm impolite to. Just remember to go outside and turn around two times and spit. Everything should be okay. Or...,is it three times.

I have posted about this often, it should come as no surprise. You may want to go back and review the posts about algorithmic trading or read "Dark Pools" I assure you that there is more than superstition at play here. My larger point has nothing to do with the validity the claim that there is a relationship between words here and the algorithms. It was a plea that you respect the emotions of others here. We are all enduring losses now and it would be much nicer if we took care of each other.
A secondary point is that your glee over buying a new car is nice, but irrelevant to the purpose of the forum. Your further discussion of the inadequacies of BMW turbos is even more afield. Diverting the attention of the board to your personal hobbies is disrespectful to the others here. If you made a decision to buy an automobile that was poorly engineered and are looking for sympathy, that is another thing entirely. I am more than happy to listen to your suffering. Just please do it in a message.

Just please do it in a message. My glee re: the new Miata is about the fact that such a great car at such an affordable price even exists. I don't recall discussing "BMW" turbo inadequecies just that I prefer naturally aspirated vehicles. Nagrani liked my post re: his wife's new car and I...,repeat I..., enjoy it when people here and elsewhere allow some of their personal life to slip through. It's a nice reminder that there are real people here and not just money changers. At this point in the game it's probably the main reason I check in truth be told because I find things like "dark pools" and "bollinger bands" to fit in the crazy bordering on delusional category. It doesn't bother me even a little that others might feel otherwise. You keep talking about "others". Have the meetings in Vegas reconvened? Are the folks here getting together and discussing what may and may not be "appropriate" for this forum? No? I didn't think so. In this instance I think I'll just get my JD on and say I'll post what I damn well feel like posting. P.S. Car sales are one hell of a lot better indicator to the overall health and well being of the economy than "dark pools" are a detriment or leading indicator of doom. That is, unless you drive your car into one.

Post what you like. I think I had you confused with someone else who just bought a BMW X3 and was talking about turbo lag. My apologies for that. There is nothing mysterious about dark pools. I sense that you are not familiar with them. The evolution of computerized trading has had a dramatic effect on the way the market operates. Many of the trades each day are on exchanges that are not reported. These equity pools affect overall supply and demand but confound attempts to see what is really happening. No hocus pocus there.
I am not sure why Bollinger bands bother you. They are not much different from control theory that is widely used. Perhaps you are concerned about assumptions of independence of the random variable?
If my pleas that you be considerate of others strike you as censorship then by all means, let's hear more about your cars. It is interesting and doesn't require any knowledge of Apple, stocks or options. Have at it. I need to buy back some calls anyway.
