Evidently everyone is out enjoying this summer weekend, which is beautiful today here in the Boston area.
Two nice weeks, resulting in almost a 9 point gain. If I recall correctly, AAPL has exceeded an intraday high that was flagged by the local chartists (nagrani?) as a key objective. The fiscal fourth quarter is always a challenge, with the anticipation of imminent new iPhone release holding back sales of the current version. I am sure that as the leaks continue the pundits will do their best to to take the air out of the balloon, but I'll bet on the enthusiasm of Apple fans around the world, and having two full weeks of new iPhone sales for this quarter should help the quarter's results.
Anyone have experience with iris scanners? I'd be interested to hear comparisons with Touch ID. From what I read, the lighting environment can have a significant effect on the accuracy of such devices.

chinacat, thank you for starting the weekend thread.
I was not out enjoying the blistering heat I Arlington, only mowing the lawn after going into work for a few hours.
I am anxiously anticipating my better half & my vacation starting the 16th.

So do we hit 110 next week?
I am still patiently waiting in cash.
Charts show further upside from here before we start to correct.

Ok ... time to start this discussion.
I want Eddie Cue FIRED. For years Apple has been blowing smoke about the TV experience .... they haven't done a thing. Nothing .... NADA.
Sling has basically done what I've wanted Apple to do years ago .... packages starting at $20 with a pretty good list of channels that people actually watch. No contracts ... no messy installation and NO rental fees for the boxes. I'm just about to buy a new Apple TV and use Sling, Netflix and possibly Hulu for all of our entertainment needs ....
WHY can't Apple offer this ? ..... Ok ..if you are listening .... Apple YOU SUCK , and it really pains me to say this. But, you are also filthy stinking rich ... buy Sling Monday morning. Use Eddie Cue's bonus and throw him out on his ass. It's embarrassing.
Cheers to the longs ...

Though it's hard to know what value Cue brings behind the scenes his public performance has been downright atrocious for several years now. Seems like everything he touches turns to stone. I'm struggling to see where Apple is going to take the TV experience. It seems like everybody is moving ahead while Apple adds a few channels here and there to stay with the pack. What exactly is going to compel people to buy an Apple TV and/or a channel bundle with Apple? There are various other boxes and services that are cheaper and offer the equivalent experience. It seems like everybody is scared to negotiate with Apple. I know Tim Cook said some promising things on the conference, but he was also optimistic about the iPad after its first decline and we all know how that turned out.

Agree: not at all inspired by past performance of Mister Cue and his downlines. Due for an iPhone upgrade, will wait to see what they do with the headphone jack (and why, and the wrap-around ecosystem vis-a-vis bluetoothing Beats). Due for an iPad upgrade. Still eyeballing 9.7 pro, but if they bring Apple Pencil to the iPad mini before the holidays that'll probably replace my current tablet. Just replaced my father's Mac Mini G4 (circa 2002) with a mid-line Mac Mini pizza box. No complaints yet. He is pleased with the upgrade from 10.5 to El Cap. Moved the motor coach TIMBERWIND back to the Connecticut shoreline. A great time of year to be in New England. Birthday this week. I'm just about halfway to the finish line. Stay shiny, AAPL peeps.

Happy Birthday, Rez!
Celebrations at our house today also: 39 years of blissful marriage and 45 together. To say I am a lucky man would be like saying Apple has been a pretty successful company.

Has anyone seen the recode tweet that WMT is buying jet.com? Very interesting - WMT continues to compete heavily with AMZN.

Are you saying that 6 years were not that great? :) Ouch! ;-) Well, they were good enough that she did say yes, but we were a little busy getting our careers started, including 3 years of law school for her.
