In case anybody wants to know how the 2016 (rigged?) Presidential Election results will come out tonight. Check out the attached .jpg file. A time traveler, from the future, handed it off to me last night. I thought I'd share it with all my AAPL friends. Don't forget to save a copy and compare it with the final results later today. You'll see. Shhhh... Don't tell anybody. We're not supposed to know. LOL!

IMHO, Neil Cybart has a unique and incisive view of Apple's product management decisions. Apple Is Placing a Big Bet with the New MacBook Pro demonstrates this once again. Fundamentally, he believes that Apple is more willing than other companies to redefine the "jobs" that their devices are intended be best for. This is disruptive to the public view of the Apple product line and how the individual products are positioned. Each transition usually creates significant discomfort among users, who are generally loathe to embrace change once they find a solution they like for the problems that they are generally trying to solve. This doesn't mean that those who are frustrated by the changes Apple makes are wrong, but by now it should be at least less surprising.

The direction towards single connector for MBP is correct. Only one type of connector!!!!! eventually no physical connector, all wireless, what not to like? Should take the opportunity to upgrade accessories and not use a new MBP with old accessories.

And so we go around the same old cycle re MBP and ports. Does no one remember iMac and the floppy?

I disagree as well. It's easy to make Tim Cook the scapegoat for whatever happens with Apple/AAPL. He's the CEO so it stands to reason that, for some people, if the stock is dropping, it's Tim's fault. A product is released but doesn't provide everything an individual wanted for their own use...Tim's fault. It amazes me that Tim is able to fool the general public by presenting a calm, rational demeanor but, in fact, runs Apple with no opportunity for anyone in the company to contribute to product enhancements. He must steamroll over Ive and anyone else with a technical bone in their body, right? He's a bean counter, how could he possibly know what PROFESSIONALS want in their computers? I don't discount the importance of an excellent company CEO. I just don't agree that Tim Cook is not that CEO. In order to run Apple as an innovation-crushing dictator, as Jason Calacanis is suggesting, every single technical professional working at Apple would have to have lost every spark of creativity for which they were hired. I'm WAY, WAY past the age of what I would guess would be an average age of technical professionals at Apple, but, when I was in my 40's 50' or 60's, I wouldn't have stayed at a company that was devoid of any possiblity of creating innovative products. And in the middle of Silicon Valley, with all the creative companies in the immediate area, why would they? Seeking Alpha has an article titled, Apple Cannot Forget The Consumer suggesting that Apple has done just that...forgotten the consumer. Among the many comments to the article, both agreeing and disagreeing with the author, was one that I thought appropriate and on the money. It's by a commenter with the username, manocas, and he posted a comment from a MacRumors forum member. Does it sound familiar? Note: I bolded the two sentences from manocas and put the MacRumors forum member's comment in a larger font. ====================== manocas Comments (564) |+ Follow |Send Message MacRumors forum member, in the first comment after the announcement of new MacBook Pros:"Well, I’m sure I’ll be attacked for this, but I’m gonna say it anyway:
Tiny hard drive, barely enough RAM (and not upgradable to the “enough” level), no dedicated graphics, only dual-core processors. It certainly isn’t bad, but Apple just took the “pro” out of the 13-inch line. And come on - it’s freaking expensive. […]
The 13” is NOT a pro device in my opinion. It’s more like a beefed-up and slightly heavier MacBook Air. For that, it just costs way too much."This isn’t a new comment. This was posted 4 years ago, in response to the last major MacBook Pro redesign. Déjà vu. (Via.) ====================== Apple Cannot Forget The ConsumerSummary =>New MacBook Pros come without many key ports.
=>2017 rumor states no new iPhone SE type device.
=>Company is missing holiday period with old iPads.
When it comes to selling any type of product, there is one thing you always have to remember, and that is the consumer. Sometimes, companies that start focusing too much on revenues and profits forget this crucial item, and results can be disastrous. Recently, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has made some questionable decisions, and I hope this isn't the start of a period where the company prioritizes the bottom line over the consumer.
Last week, the company was forced to come out and offer special discounts to certain accessories for the Mac line. While the new MacBook Pro models look nice, they are without USB, HDMI, SD card, and other non-Thunderbolt 3 ports. With these new models being quite expensive to begin with, making consumers shell over even more dough for connectors is not a prudent strategy. Apple reported a 14% decline in Mac unit sales in its most recent quarter, so alienating the consumer here is not a good idea. (MacBook Pro image from 9to5Mac article) Two other problems I recently discussed relate to this current holiday period. Apple not only announced that AirPods will be delayed, but also the company did not provide any new iPads for the holiday season. Apple is still selling the iPad Air 2 that went on sale more than two years ago, as well as the iPad Mini 2 that first launched in 2013! That mini currently features the A7 chipset that's three generations old, and yet the tablet still goes for $269. Consumers can get tablets today that are much more powerful for half the price. The iPad Pro models out are six months to a year old as well, so Apple will definitely miss this holiday period. A refresh is expected in March, but it better be quite dramatic if the company is to turn iPad sales declines around.
Another problem I have is a report that came out Monday morning from key analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who stated that iPhone sales will decline in the first half of 2017 because Apple will not be launching a new smaller screen SE-line device. Kuo states that AAPL is worried about cannibalizing larger-screen, higher-priced, higher-margin devices, and that's resulting in the company expected to pressure suppliers to cut prices. Kuo sees 40-50 million units shipped in calendar Q1 versus 51.2 million in the 2016 period, and 35-40 million units in calendar Q2 versus 40.4 million in Q2 2016.
With iPhone unit sales down 5% in fiscal Q4 despite the boost from the new SE model, you would think Apple would want to reach as many consumers as possible. While I understand that the market for four-inch screen phones may not be tremendous, there are still tens of millions of potential sales out there on an annual basis. If Apple is worried about margins, then it should just raise the price of an upgraded model, especially if it starts with more storage. If the company were to launch a SE 2 (or say 7s) model with base storage of 32GB, 3 GB of RAM, an upgraded camera as well as the normal chipset upgrades, why can't the price start at $499? Throw in a special jet black model and you can charge even more. Given that this model wouldn't represent a ton of iPhone revenues, the overall hit to margins would be quite small.
In the end, Apple needs to remember the consumer and not just focus on the bottom line. The removal of key ports on the Mac will cause some consumers to think twice about purchasing new models while the company is missing the key holiday period with a lack of iPad refresh. Now we have a report that states the SE model will not be updated in 2017, potentially meaning more iPhone sales declines. With a little help from a market pullback, Apple's shares have lost about 10% from their post-earnings high. 2017 won't be the rebound year many are looking for if the company ignores what the consumer wants.

But Apple apparently heeded the hue and cry to switch to "industry standards." Too bad… Just curious, could it be the MagSafe is less efficient in charging the batteries or using it for fast charging? I know under some circumstances my MagSafe charger gets very warm, I have a 2010 iSight MacBook Pro. Edit: I forgot to mention I also have been saved by the MagSafe connection a couple of times when standing up only to see the MagSafe connector falling away harmlessly from the laptop..

I will happily BTFD if any of you sell your shares. This has been the first time in history a president didn't get above 3% growth over 8 years. President Trump & the GOP Congress will make America great again! BTFD! That tax repatriation is coming!
God Bless America!

Hello global recession! Thanks U.S.!!! I knew the world was in trouble when I found out only 17% of Americans had a passport. The world is fucked and I hope Apple has plans to either stand and fight or leave. I am sure, unlike half of you clowns down south, Tim will make the right decision. All the best to the enlightened better half 😊

We've been in a global recession since 2008-9. Mark my words, the USA will enjoy a massive comeback and 4-5% growth under President Trump. Just watch.
God Bless America and Apple.
