Two positive weeks in a row for AAPL. Let's hope Holiday Madness keeps the cycle going at least through the end of the year.
Looks like we are outliers among this group in the television game. We have been TiVo subscribers for years, and I could never go back to being without it. The ability to turn network television into on-demand-once-it-has-been-broadcast has forever changed how we think about it. It also means that there is never a conflict between, e.g., a live sports event and a show that both of us feel like watching, since the TiVo has multiple tuners. For that reason, we have not owned an integrated TV set for years. Both the TiVo and Apple TV run through HDMI ports on our stereo receiver for good sound quality, and either can be shown on the stand-alone display.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday weekend so far. The LA branch of the family will be arriving in a few weeks, and we are thrilled at the thought of being able to see both grandsons at once.

Well, as long as I'm just talking to myself here, let me throw this out...
Is it possible that between now and Chinese New Year that Apple products in China could actually get a bump from the threat of actions by the new administration that would result in either an increase in price or the outright ban of Apple products in the future, whether or not it comes to pass?

AAPL is at a crossroad. Depending on whether there is a trade war, AAPL would either shot to a new high (higher than $130) or crash to a new low (below $90).

Apple will likely be able to repatriate cash to the us this year which is a really strong catalyst. First step is to take out 112 with conviction. Hopefully tomorrow.

This stock will be driven higher by one and only fact. Are earnings growing beyond Q1? We won't confirm until January earnings. Getting cash back to US is a done deal and I think partially in the stock price. After two periods of dropping margins and dropping net income in the last 4 years. We will have a tough time growing p/e regardless of positive development. My target for 12 months is 130-146. So we should be fine moving forward. Short term it is a challenge to see a move much above 115 given the large OI for Dec.

The Macalope posted an article yesterday: www.macworld.com/article/3144508/ios/coming-to-their-senses-it-s-always-just-over-the-horizon.html. The last paragraph: "The problem with Apple’s sales isn’t that people are switching to cheaper phones, it’s just that there are fewer growth opportunities because the market — particularly the market for high-end smartphones — has become saturated. Apple certainly has challenges. But simply expecting they have nothing in the pipeline at all seems less prophetic and more apathetic."

I missed this Playstation Vue now available without an actual PS unit on Apple TV 4th Gen announcement last week - maybe you did too... link:. I found the lag time and crappy program guide interface of Sling Tv to be a deal breaker for me in cutting the cord. Maybe this Vue option will be better. Love the fact that the DVR is in the cloud. Also note that AT&T tomorrow (Mon 11-28) will be rolling out their Direct TV Now streaming service with a list of channels. Hulu is also soon to launch theirs... maybe Eddy Cue just needs to sit his fat ass courtside at the Warriors games and just let every other company launch their streaming products on Apple Tv units.
