While I was a bit disappointed to end the year on a down day, in the context of a 52 week range of $89.47-$118.69 one would have to say that AAPL finished the year pretty strongly. Here's hoping that the results for the now ending quarter will give us a pop just in time for Chinese New Year. Certainly the Samsung brand has been tarnished by exploding phones and washing machines. Huawei seems to be the new Asian darling being targeted as the latest threat, but until another company is showing more than 1% of the total profit in smartphones I feel somewhat confident about Apple's prospects. Surely there will be a steady drumbeat of "exclusives" concerning the 10th anniversary iPhone; perhaps someone will even figure out what it is going to be called ;-)
Another thing to watch this coming year will be the move into the Space Station. This certainly has the potential to be disruptive on several levels, but obviously the management team has been planning it for a long while. Nonetheless, it would be astounding if it does not have some kind of effect, however temporary.
As always, I want to thank you all for providing gobs of valuable and interesting information about our favorite company.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Nonetheless, it would be astounding if it does not have some kind of effect, however temporary. Even though many folks have criticized the money being spent on the Apple 2 Campus, I believe it's an indicator of Apple management's belief in the future of the company and it's certainly shaping up to be a beautiful campus, especially now that the hardscape and landscaping is apparent. But given the number of people that will be working at this location, I'll be certain to avoid the adjacent freeway during commute traffic. I'm including a link to yet another quadcopter video taken on Christmas morning. It has some very nice images of the new campus. A Christmas Morning at Apple Campus 2 As always, I want to thank you all for providing gobs of valuable and interesting information about our favorite company. Happy New Year, everyone! I'll second that since I'm also very appreciative of the folks who are still contributing to the board and would also like to add my thanks to those already expressed by others to Since84 for his daily, unfailing attention to getting our day started with the latest Apple news. Happy New Year to all!! (but especially the AAPL Longs)

Thanks for the wonderful link. It is truly beautiful. I too wonder if the huge amount of money on this campus is well spent. It is an article of faith in Apple. I assume they will save money from many other locations that will be phased out. True? I also wish to express my gratitude to all who post here. It is a site I treasure, and the views expressed are truly intelligent. Thanks, and Happy New Year all ! ! gracias.jpg Attachments:

First, I have no problem with Apple spending $5B on Campus 2. Money well spent on happy, productive employees and a drop in the bucket for the most valuable company on earth.
Second, I believe a new crop of desktop Macs are waiting for the opening of the Campus 2 auditorium in March.

It will attract the best talent in the world and become the Mecca of innovation. I am not so sure they will move in this year. Sadly this project has taken a very long time to complete. I recall in 2011 when city council approved the plans. Based on the last video, there still seems to be lots of items to complete. The inside takes longer then the structure itself. So I don't see new announcements coming out of this campus in 2017.

Anedotal evidence:
I just got back from buying an iPhone 7 from my local Apple Store (yay me.) It wasn't "mobbed" per se, but there was a constant stream of people buying iPhones. More than one foreign customer buying multiple. No AirPods to be found, apparently there is a line every morning waiting to buy them. Nothing earth shattering here, but the tales of Apple's demise may be premature.
