None of them. That is why it is so difficult to get any feel for the market.

How frequent does this fidelity website update this institutional ownership. WHen was the last time this no change. What is the data they derive to this no? maybe not updated? Chino, that data is never up to date. Heaven forbid retail investors would be given accurate date. Regardless, it is still very low. Then I guess Bloomberg's data is most representative = "Report Data Issue" investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/ownership/institutional.asp?ticker=AAPL

Understood. I have yet to see sentiment change on AAPL, so we will see how far it goes. It is now under $540 per share as I write this. One would hope at some point this will turn around, but it seems to me Apple, being a leader, has a big bullseye on their back and everyone and their brother tries to stir up FUD to knock them down. And so far that death-by-a-thousand-needles strategy is working. It seems investors are very skittish and sensitive and are a herd. There is clearly a ton of FUD on the stock and yes - it is over traded and over manipulated. Therein lies the dilemma. People on CNBC and Bloomberg know it gets them the ratings to constantly talk about it and it has become relentless. I'm guessing if technicals firm up a bit we can see the light of day. It's demoralizing however the good news is that EVERYONE hates it right now. Every positive is turned into a negative -- and the best time to make money is to be buying when times are bad. If you ever watch the show The Men Who Built America on the History Channel about numerous CEOs including titans like Carnegie, JP Morgan, Ford, Rockefeller...etc is that they were buying when others were bailing because they saw the value. I see value in AAPL.

There is so much FUD about Apple today. I could make a list.... I think it is the most I have seen since rumors of Steve's illness first appeared. FWIW: I am MORE worried about general economics, 43 million on food stamps, free smartphones for the poor, etc., etc. AT this moment in time, I don't see AAPL hitting $700 until some time in January...

Given the numbers they are going to post in Jan and Apr from the three product upgrades/introductions. Given the Chinese New Year and high probability of China Telecom selling the phone sometime in Dec. Earnings will present numbers that will affect the financials that will be too difficult to ignore (if only for a window in time until the BS starts coming up again). Barring any catastrophic macro news there is about equal evidence if not MORE of another parabolic run up in the next 6 mos. It's easy to be consumed by the "Loop of Doom" No one last Nov predicted a move from 400-600 in a few short weeks.

...although I am getting tired of seeing "Market down, Apple Falls" again and again in the daily headlines on CNBC's main page. I am not 100% sure but I believe AMZN has fallen 4 out of the past 5 days and I didn't read AMZN falls.

Here's a quote from Horace D's newest entry on Asymco that might help explain some of the share price action this past month.
"At least since the iPhone launched, every dramatic drop in share price was followed by a surge in earnings growth. One could even say the worse the bear, the better the growth.
Sounds completely counter-intuitive, but there is some perverse logic in this as well. The market reflects crises (as well as over-abundance) of confidence. Unforeseen growth is what creates wealth and the crisis in confidence is a reflection of the improbability of continuing out-performance. When Appleās performance is foreseeable the stock moves slowly upward. When its performance is unforeseeable the stock moves dramatically downward.
A pithy way of putting it is: No news is good news. Good news is bad news."

I hear ya - but yesterday all I was suggesting was to try to get along and play nicely in the sandbox through compromise and I got sent to sit on the couch for a time out - so there ya go! This is a spin free zone for sure! Ah...but it's good to be back anyway!

Is there anything in this week's option's expiration of concern? Is Max Pain starting to come into play again or are all the events plus the technicals pushed it out of the input category?
