I'm telling you, we had horrific timing of our quarterly profit-taking sell off. We played right into a crappy earnings and guidance, then into a crappy election, now into fiscal cliff BS.
So yes, I think this is all overblown. But I can see the reasoning now. Each day I'm convinced more that we're going to need a solid Q1 to start aggressively moving up again.

I keep thinking that its gotta stop going down sometime... but every time I think we hit bottom it continues to decline. I walk away from the market with a loss but I walk away with money. Good luck to everyone here.
It was a mistake to think apple was a good company to invest in.

Interesting: the amount of capital held by individual investors and their financial managers is 19trillion which is far more than institutional investors. As reported by George Roberts, KKR Co That is interesting indeed.

I think Q1 numbers are already cut in stone. Unfortunately for us, that stone is locked in a vault at Apple's HQ. How much can they supply? That will determine sales. I also think early signs of activity in Q2 and Q3 will be key. Because Q1 2012 was so strong, it will be difficult to add more than a few dollars to YTD EPS. But demand could drive a stronger Q2 and a much stronger Q3.

I see Q2 being bigger than Q1 as all those new production line costs are a thing of the past, and supply finally meets demand. Guidance will reflect that.

Lowest close in nearly 6 months, since May 18, 2012. Looks like AAPL won't have traction until the overall market does, or some great news comes out.

What a day.
Just a reminder, the 52 week low was 363.32. Today's close, 536.93, is 173.61 higher -- up almost 48%.
I know its tough. I'm very stretched. But keep things in perspective. Apple remains a great investment.

It's that damn extra 14th week in Q12012 that makes Q12013 guidance look bad - otherwise apples Q12013 lowballed quidance would have been close to last years actual EPS.

"When the going gets tough...fortunes a made." How true. In the darkest times of May '12, when we were floating around 522 and it looked like we were going lower, this puppy goes up 30, signaling a change in trend. That's all it takes, and when you least expect it.

It was a mistake to think apple was a good company to invest in. Short term, yes. Long term in the past, it's been a great company to invest in. Looking forward, it looks like it's going to continue to be a great company to invest in, at least over the longer term. (BTW, I went in 2 Apple stores this weekend. The first in Pleasanton, CA, was just mobbed. It's a smaller store, but it was hard to walk around in there. I had to wait to talk to someone to return my adapter, but got to play with the mini....also after waiting. Our 2 year old didn't want to let go of the iPhone 5. Up in Walnut Creek, CA, the store was busy but you could at least move around. But that store is probably 4 times larger, though within a black of Tiffany's, Nieman Marcas, and other high end stores. If feeling down, it might be worth it to sit down outside an Apple store and count items/bags going out for an hour. It's not like 2000 where sales dried up some, especially on their marque item at the time of the G4 Cube)

Welp, I sold some more shares at the close. I'm looking at Jan 15' 800's to replace them in the next few days. They are getting silly cheap. When they first were available, they were $10K. Now, $3300. This looks almost exactly like last year. We sold off into Thanksgiving and then rallied all the way to April.

AAPL has been a leading indicator for over a decade, both downward and upward. It's likely to be this time too, but we still need some support and some more positiveness, for the market and for AAPL. Longer term all is looking good. It's in the 1-3 month ranges that things are still questionable, though I like to think once holiday sales become more apparent that it will lead things on.

Nate capitulated, so that signals the bottom, right? Sadly, it takes more than just that. Even those of us hell bent on holding need to feel bad and maybe even question our decisions. That's not to say we change our mind, but maybe we discuss it with our spouse, or think about things more. I was there a week ago. We need a spark to set it off. Analysts have been trying, restating their $750+ figures. It will happen....but often having patience is tough.

Good luck to everyone here. It was a mistake to think apple was a good company to invest in. It was not a mistake to think apple was a good company to invest in. Timing is everything when buying on margin or buying options. I am new at this and have made my first BIG MISTAKE not taking profits earlier. I am learning and will survive even though my account currently looks awful.

If you are indeed out of Apple, then for your own sanity stay out. It is clear that you are not cut out to deal with market volatility. Put your money somewhere safe and non volatile.

If you self-delete TWICE, that shows you're not cut out for the forum lifestyle IMHO. For everyone's sake including your own, stay away and all the best in life.

If true: awesome! I've been to the apple store in multiple cities and everyone seems to like the ipad mini. The blogs and technowonks can say what they will. People like this device a lot.
See below:
More than half of iPad mini buyers are new to iPad, and more bought it to replace a PC than an existing iPad says a new study that indicates Apple's latest iPad is still creating new demand rather that replacing the company's existing sales.

iPad mini + cellular launching in the US only this week, it seems. The sooner it starts launching worldwide, the better.
