Big volume...dare I say the c-word? Would it be more like the b-word as in bubble?

Big volume...dare I say the c-word? Say it all you want. It could end up being just as meaningless as all the other times it supposedly happened. I am adjusting assets fully expecting to buy shares in the 400's or close to it. This is a once every 4 or 5 year opportunity. I have no crystal ball, so this is just another WAG like many others here.

Big volume...dare I say the c-word? Would it be more like the b-word as in bubble? The market is irrational - it will run up too high and at times run down too low. It should gravitate back towards a happy medium. The question we are all asking is when is the bottom. I really do hope we will know in the next week or two.

Wow, really? LOL!
Sometimes this market just makes you laugh at how separated a stock can behave from it's company. This is like a day by day slip when Apple was shipping an early version of OS X. You knew it was going to make it out of the gate soon, but you had to install and test it and hope the end was near, and that someone didn't make another one keystroke major bug.
The rain hasn't started yet on our 6 days of storms. Time to get away from the ticker again and fix some more things outside.

Broke the May low, Div adjusted. CRAP. does this mean it is likely dip further given there was no strong resistance at the $517 level? if there were, shouldn't we see a strong bounce off those levels?

It just really goes to show the dividend is a waste of money. It's totally evaporated now many times over to anyone who's held through both of them.

I would hate to be correct with my EOY prediction from last year. I called it at 499, but I didn't invest according to my call

It's possible. Volume is pretty high - I'm seeing over 10 million shares and it's only 10:27 am. Let's see how the rest of the day goes. It's possible we could reverse and finish green

Yeah, can we go back to no dividend? I'd rather Apple kept the cash, thanks.

Hang in there folks. The light is starting to show at the end of the tunnel.
Nice strong volume today. I suspect if we close red we will top buying on weakness.
Will buy more shares next week with my dividend. Will get a margin call at 510. Never thought we would get here, but here we are.
Still very bullish about Apple and the company has never been stronger.
We will all be much happier come end of April.

TOS says it just flipped to 9 million. Do you mean today's traded share volume? Quotetracker is telling me it's currently over 10.7 million shares traded so far as of 10:34 am. real time quotes from RBC.

Seriously, if the market can piss away the dividend (and then some), why have it? I'd rather the company kept the cash safe.

Probably not much solace but if you look at GOOG, AMZN, the NAS, DOW etc the chart pattern since mid Sept are about the same. MACD and RSI are all at the lowest points in months. Basically everything went into a sell starting about that time. GOOG right now is only 0.10 away from their 200 MA. Seems everyone decided to take profits around the same time. The election timing and all other post election uncertainty just has extended the sell period which IMHO would have reversed earlier had it not been for those events. Now for some cheer leading: what is different for us is all financials look great and earnings for the next two qtrs should be the best ever...by far. Compared to any other company on the market I would rather be right here. I feel my own capitulation moment coming as have surpassed the pity party stage and I am now beating myself up harder daily for being a dumbass and not having very much cash to take advantage of this moment.

Realtime volume is 11,145,349 according to my scottrade account.
I also added a few more shares today. This price action is ridiculous.

It just really goes to show the dividend is a waste of money. It's totally evaporated now many times over to anyone who's held through both of them. By the same logic, the cash hoard is also a waste since the market doesn't respect the value of it at all. No guarantee that a buyback won't be offset by additional P/E compression. Bottom line - there's no magic potion for this stock. It will turn when the market deems it worthy. We all know it is, but we don't make the market.

I also wonder, who are all these people selling? I see all these long red lines on the chart.
And why didn't they sell before when the price was much higher? AAPL seems to never run out of sellers.

Overall market has recovered to almost flat. This is so similar to last year around Thanksgiving. Black Friday was a crap day. I am at the end of my rope. I went through all 5 stages of grief, invented a few more and now it appears I am starting over.

Market irrational? AMZN is green today. And here's the latest matchup between AMZN and AAPL. Wall street is completely broken. Period.

Oh well, another 65 days like today, give or take, we will be at zero. At least at that point I will be able to afford to take AAPL private.

The only thing that makes sense are forced liquidations (e.g. margin calls, etc.). Throw in some panic for good measure.

It seems the market is treating 20%+ of this company as "dead money". At best, it is a $100 billion mutual fund that is earning a decent return. I hope at worst, break even in cash.
