Interesting Rutgers guy. I noticed at the bar about 8-1 iphone to other phone ratio...Now how about the panthers pulling out a w today? Big East championship Rutgers vs Louisville

I spent a little over 1.5 shares of AAPL on a Mac Mini and Time Capsule on Black Friday. My 11-year-old lampy iMac that I used to order this stuff is getting a little long in the tooth, so I'll retire it to my third home where it will enjoy the proximity to saltwater. I suspect it was a very good day for Apple.

Stopped by BestBuy this afternoon, all the 16-32gb Mini Wifi's were gone. I have no idea how to model a number for these things but it will be huge. The question is, (where's Pats?) how many of these can they produce?
Thanksgiving was a bit different at our house. Brother sells for VZ so lots of Samesung phones around. Blech! One chunk of the family is on T-Mobile as well so that doesn't help. I still wonder what they're going to do in coming years, since they really can't go bigger. They already look like mini Plasma TVs. I did bring up the fact they're not being good Americans, buying Korean phones :-)
Still think the "Apple's going to produce TVs" talk is nuts. The prices out there right now are nuts.

Bwahaha. iPads and iPhones buying stuff like iPad minis and iPhones and Macs for Black Friday. Glorious. Which is the exact opposite of Blodget. If you think about it (and I really do not recommend you do so) blodget is a great example of onomatopoeia.

I'm convinced there's room for an HDTV with content and interface integration with Siri. Now with Google seeking to develop an "open" version of Airplay, the competition certainly sees an opportunity in the living room. So do I. I recently switched from Craptastic to DirecTV. While the latter is an improvement over the former, it's still very old school.

Can't remember if I doubted the iPad mini at some point. I've been a believer for a while in any case so whatever Apple might not produce TVs, but there ARE prototypes, you just know it. Seeing where the string leads is Tim's favorite non-denial denial yarn about what's next for Apple in TV land. TV navigation on digital today sucks. Apple knows the way forward, it's just a question of content deals and a big name or two being willing to handle some big-time upfront disruption.

I was not a believer. I have come to accept the fact that if there is going to be a 7" market, it might as well be done by Apple also.

I doubted the mini. I didn't want it to be made. I didn't think it would be a good device or improve the bottom line.
I was wrong.

The current razor thin margin TVs are not smart TVs. Apples will be.
Apples not going to invent the first "smart tv" (there are already TVs out there that run apps, have web access, Skype cams etc) but Apple will be the one to popularise it (just like with mp3 players, smartphones & tablets).

Then an article about the "price umbrella" (Horace?) convinced me a couple of months before it came out--and a few weeks after I argued against it here.

IMHO: the AppleTV needs lots of CHEAP bandwidth to be the next big thing. I don't see anything new for a few years. Remember, the NYT predicted the iPhone in 2002

Now, a new content delivery system, that's a horse of a different color. Not sure about higher HD, haven't seen it but after awhile, isn't there a limit to what we can perceive as a big enough improvement to purchase new systems? What's the penetration level of Blueray after several years? Btw, got out my original iPhone today. Wow, weighs a ton, so slow and amazing how blurry the screen is. What a great product it was though!

4K TV would be a bandwidth and cost monster - for content and the sets themselves. It'll take an Apple or similar to move forward from where things stand now. It may well not happen for the foreseeable future Good thing Apple's covered all the important bases and there's still so much room for growth in these markets.

Here is another reason Windows phone will never win loyalty like Apple. This sounds like Android, but at least Android did not promise upgrading....Microsoft did. m.winsupersite.com/windows-phone/windows-phone-team-no-way-treat-early-adoptersToday, almost exactly one month after the Windows Phone 8 release and over 5 months after it was announced, Microsoft has never really publicly discussed Windows Phone 7.8 again nor has it hinted at when it might be released. Microsoft, silence is no way to treat early adopters, the people who are your most loyal customers. It is the most disrespectful thing you can do, in fact. Combined with the weird and continued holes in your ecosystem strategy—the inability to get Xbox Video content on Windows Phone 8 as only one obvious example—it’s unclear to me why you think anyone should support you or your mobile platform. “We care very deeply about our Windows Phone 7.5 customers,” Microsoft’s Terry Myerson said almost one hour and 45 minutes into the Windows Phone Summit event. (You can watch this tiny segment for yourself in the Windows Phone Summit video.) “Because of this, I’m happy to share that we are creating an update for our Windows Phone 7.5 customers.” After five months of silence, it’s time to prove you really do care, deeply or otherwise. It’s time to open up. Post something. Discuss Windows Phone 7.8. Tell us when, and why it's taking so long. Something. Anything.

Apple knows any HDTV it builds has to be more than the sum of Design + Apple TV (the hockey puck). At one extreme, Bose is marketing a 46" VideoWave TV for $5k. Now, it's a bad example because it hasn't sold well. At the other end, you can buy a smart TV under $1,500, but they're unsatisfactory for a host of reasons.
Apple has the potential to package Siri + AirPlay + Design + 400M iTunes user accounts + Content Disaggregation + Interface (including camera recognition of viewer). Apple will be able to charge a premium, as it will change the living room as we know it.

My take is that these early Windows 7x customers have moved on to something else. I was at a AT&T counter recently, and I overheard a Lumia 900 customer complain about having returned 3 (!) phones due to various problems with the handset. What did she end up buying? An iPhone.

Notre Dame - whoa! Go Irish! ND deserved the win. I am glad I am not a USC fan because I would be sick knowing I have a coach who is a DA. Why they went for it on 4th down made no sense, they needed 2 scores anyway. Yech, ND Lol

And yes, I know USC does not like to be called "Southern Cal."

Question for anyone out there....does AAPL ever release any Black Friday or Cyber-Monday data? No, right? I don't seem to remember any but I can be wrong. Anyone know for sure?

Last year we got one report from an "inside source", that was about it. I expect a few comscore type reports. Numbers will be tough to compare with retailers expanding days/hours and more traffic moving online. 1 in 5 online purchase were Apple products if this is true, wow...
