It was a pretty blah week for AAPL, but at least it ended with two green days. I assume that the traders among us found ways to benefit anyways, and I am confident that the outlook for the next few months will reward the longs. BI has a real bombshell (that's a joke, son!) in Analysts say iPhone sales could shrink by 17% if Apple doesn't make a drastic change to its business, via Toni Sacconaghi ("One of the most respected Apple analysts out there"), that can be headed off if they "become a subscription business." Isn't there something called the "iPhone upgrade program"? Mashable has the very snarky Jony Ive is in charge of all Apple product design again, and we have a wish list. Certainly, some of these complaints have been echoed right here in AFB, but the whole tone of the article is quite disrespectful of a man who has enriched our lives for many years. CREDIT SUISSE: Apple will never catch Venmo (PYPL, AAPL) may well be correct, but it misses the point that while such payments are a pillar of Venmo's business, they are merely another link in the chain of functions that are contributing to Apple's burgeoning services sector. Person-to-person cash transfers are almost non-existent in my life, so perhaps I am not in a good position to judge. It's a snowy day here in the Land of the Bean and Cod, so I am going to hunker down and try to catch up on all the little tasks that I have let slip during the week.

Point of the article is well taken. At some point, the growth of Apple has to peak. I see a new larger phone as the phone becomes the new portable computer. And updating the SE with the new screen is a clear winner. But it is hard to see beyond that.

And updating the SE with the new screen is a clear winner. But it is hard to see beyond that. It seems pretty clear to me from the most recent ad campaign that Apple is betting on the iPad becoming the new portable computer, although I agree with you that the iPhone Plus will serve that function for many folks. Not sure there is room in the product line for something in between.
