On volume of 2,500 shares? Most likely, buyers bidding up in the PM are unaware of weekly pain or they think it's not going to hold.

To be fair - yesterday we were DOWN the same amount on the same type of volume...so PM continues to confuse me. I feel like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid upon pursuit asking, "Who ARE those guys?"

PED has a nice article today comparing the rollout of the Nexus 4 versus the iPhone 5. It's a must read for anyone who doubts the skill and value of Tim Cook. We sometimes take for granted how difficult it is just to complete the sales cycle on such a massive scale.

From Business Insider
"Palm Beach County users of Apple products look to establish a learning and support center in the county. The Sun Sentinel reports that the center would help users to learn Apple systems and functions outside of Apple stores, where classes often fill up quickly. Many non-profits, such as Palm Beach Phoenix Apple User Group, also find it difficult to keep up with the demand of people looking to receive instruction about Apple products. The group is looking to collect 1,000 signatures in support of the center and would then take the petition to cities in the county to gather donors, according to the Sentinel."

PM is pointless to analyze. It may give you some idea of where it will open, but that's about it. You reach the typical PM volume in less than a minute of trading following the opening bell.

Report about how the growth of Apple and Samsung in China could be limited. The following is quite worrying (2nd para mainly), “Chinese brands have taken more than half the Chinese smartphone market this year, and they will take much more,†says Sandy Shen, head of consumer research at Gartner, the research group, in Shanghai. Although smartphones now account for about half of handset shipments for the Chinese market, less than 30 percent of all models in use are smartphones. “The people who can afford high-end smartphones, the segment foreign brands are focused on, have all bought one and now the market is mainly driven by demand for medium to low-end smartphones,†says Ms Shen." Of course it's only one source with a typically cute anecdotal story to start the article. What is worrying is it's Gartner as opposed to some no name small research group and a local research person said it. I'm torn. It actually makes logical sense but its still only one source. I have big hopes for the Apr 13 qtr and this could be a problem. Anyway here is the whole article: www.cnbc.com/id/50001897

PM is pointless to analyze. It may give you some idea of where it will open, but that's about it. I would not call analysis of pre-market or after-hours pointless. That would be like a prosecutor throwing in the towel after the defendant says "not guilty." If there's evidence, we take a look at the volume and motivations. If motivation is low, call it dead cat bounce. Today does not feel like dead cat. We have iMacs going on sale tomorrow, iPhone approval news in China and continued discussion on US federal taxes. AMD purchase rumors for a bonus.

Well, the pin at 580 tomorrow is going to be tested. This nine dollar bump right out of the gate bodes well for a push closer to 600 for a test.

The people who can afford high-end smartphones, the segment foreign brands are focused on, have all bought one and now the market is mainly driven by demand for medium to low-end smartphones. Bullshit. What is worrying is it's Gartner as opposed to some no name small research group and a local research person said it. Gartner's actual track record is completely awful with respect to all things Apple and particularly mobile. They are at best random, at worst an actual contra-indicator.

Not to mention, usually paid for by Apple's competition. Apple is the only company that puts out actual numbers and even then they do it in a way that just gives hints. (The iphone number in Sept for example)
There are millions of people on CM's network using iphones that barely work. I can only guess the demand when the phone and network actually perform together.

I was tempted on raising cash by selling some deep ITM calls near the open, however. With AAPL trading at a measly 13 P/E, upside is > downside, as painful as can be to watch.

With AAPL trading at a measly 13 P/E, upside is > downside. I feel the same way and I am sure others are realizing the same thing. Yell it from the mountain tops, AAPL is a 13.x p/e stock. Really.
