My condolences to Rutgers fans - but they still have a great team. AAPL slightly red on virtually a handful of shares. Let's see what our wonderful politicians can screw up today. The only good thing about a Friday right now is that most traders won't go home short over the weekends for fear of a Washington deal being cut between Obama and Boehner....and they can do it on any given day or time...so most traders I speak to will flat going into weekends until this is resolved. PS More on a football note - the Broncos and the Colts replaced their playbooks with iPads - gotta love it: 9to5mac.com/2012/11/29/how-the-indianapolis-colts-replaced-its-800-page-playbooks-with-120-ipads/

My suggestion to Washington politicians today: You are either part of the problem or the solution. If you are not part of the solution then shut the hell up!

My condolences to Rutgers fans - but they still have a great team. I actually sold my two tickets for last night's game in Stub Hub, since I was shorting the Rutgers team. Didn't think they were going to win, and did not want that feeling of walking out of the stadium at 11PM into the cold dark night feeling totally depressed (had enough of that the last two months with AAPL). However, we did book reservations at the team hotel for the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando (Wednesday night), and airplane tix for NWK to Orlando last night (with 24 hour cancellation). Only thing is that bowl committees pick the teams to play in their bowl - since the bid does not go automatically to the 2nd place team - so Cincy or Syracuse might jump us. This was the last great chance for RU to go to a decent bowl - and if they won last night it would have been a BCS bowl, like the Orange Bowl - since they lose a lot of seniors after this year, and start play in the Big Ten in 2014. Hope Chris is still coming.

Rupert: The AAPL pivot points are all zero. Is that a sign of the pending DOOM? Gee I hope not, error fixed.

Seems like a pitiful response to the China announcement. Oh, but the Chinese are not going to buy any more iPhones. That market is done ;-)

I specifically put in a request to Washington politicians today and am being ignored - 12 pm Obama to speak - wtf! ugh! It's all classic negotiation...chest pounding, laughing at the other side, outrage, frustration, insult......then....there is NO chance of a deal.....five minutes later: deal. Wall Street already is getting tired of the posturing. Factored in.

There is always camera posturing, but neither side can afford to look unreasonable. AAPL is performing as most would expect for a Friday. Kind of thought the China news would have given us a bump, but maybe later. Two days ago we had a Digitimes article talking about Mini supply problems and AAPL takes a big hit. Then somehow Apple 2 days later announces that it will launch said product in China. What is wrong with this picture? All I can say is these hedge funds better be glad I am not running the SEC. It would not be pretty and the punishment would be dramatic and swift.

Looks like I was right on the move down (or up) a strike in the first 30 minutes. Time to squish out some of those weekly options at 590 and 585. The question is where it's going to end up, especially with O talking at noon. That could make the whole market jump, or more likely fall. Blah

I suppose he's hoping for a repeat of recent Fridays, gap down at open, nice gain by close?

Thought of the day: you know what Apple should do with some of their cash? Reassure Samsung that the rumors about moving processor purchases to another vendor are false, by re-upping contracts with some guarantees to Samsung. Then when they're ready they can leave with no advance warning at all--just one day: we're done, cancel all those orders right now, here's your check, f you! That would be worth some money, in fact it's like a Mastercard commercial: "seeing the expression on Samsung executives' faces, priceless!"

So is the general opinion today's action is a typical weekly OE irritated by the macro news on the cliff talks? Like a previous post I am disappointed we didn't get any traction with the official China announcement. Maybe the official China Mobile announcement will get some (if there is an actual news release that is).
