Our last gathering was late March, 2012. The AAPL investor summit was a couple weeks before that. 1) Any word if there will be another summit in 2013? If so, would that be of interest to others of this board? It might be a good excuse to get together. 2) Sponge typically pushed to celebrate milestones at even 100's, but as we've seen they often come around again and again. In this thread several options were advanced, including Chicago, New York and again Las Vegas. Independent of any summit, should we put something together? January 24th is Macintosh 29 years. February 24th is on a weekend and Steve Jobs birthday. Or just wait for the weather to get nice? 3) Beyond a "BIG" gathering, maybe use this thread to coordinate some "mini" events like the recent rendezvous in Chicago. Recommend maintaining privacy and NOT posting group photos here. But I'll repeat my sentiment from the old 'boards: meeting some of the people behind the keyboards has really added a great dimension to this community for me. It is worth the effort.

Bud777 and his wife made the effort to stop off to meet me here in the boonies on their way back to OR on Thanksgiving weekend. I really enjoyed meeting them. And the only ones wearing donkey suits were my two actual donkeys, Nino and Julio.
So, yes, local works well.

Meeting in person has been fun. Since I tend to be shy and not very talkative these meet ups help me. I have made trips to Atlanta, NYC and Vegas to meet various members. The last trip to Vegas came at a bad time, but we still managed to have fun.

I'd be interested and would try to make it out there if you guys held one. All depends on my wife's schedule however. ATL would be nice as my in-laws are down there. (Yes, I actually get along very well w/them. )

AFB 500 party? I'm in the northeast USA. Lots going on up here in the months of Autumn and leading into the holidays. Plus, Long Island wine country is calling. If you're headed over to see the leaves, drink some GREAT Apple cider, visit NYC or just need an excuse to visit your mansion in Newport or the Hamptons, drop me a line. AFB tour of NYC. Stop by Wall Street, visit the 5th Ave Apple Store, Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (past site of Macworld Expo) and visit a local school using Apple equipment.

Howdy AFB minions,
I'm headed to San Diego on Monday for a conference (Sheraton by the airport), speaking on Tuesday and heading out early on Friday morning. If any of y'all are in the area, we should get together for a coffee or something. Several Apple Stores in the San Diego area. Send me a PM if interested.

My old ship will be in New York City for a port call on 25 July 2015, a Saturday. Mrs. Rez and I will be in town to meet friends and attend a Broadway musical. So I was thinking, since that weekend is around the time of earnings, maybe I could book a restaurant and we could all do lunch in the city? Maybe Thursday night, July 23rd, with die-hards taking a visit to Wall Street on Friday the 24th? Friday night is possible, of course, but hotel rooms and restaurant availability are much tighter on the weekend.
Assume for a minute that you WILL be able to attend a AFB gathering in NYC in July. What would YOU like to see?

I'll be in the city with Mrs. Rez tonight, but will be leaving Sunday morning. So no AFB meet-up. New York City would still be a great place for a gathering, if the ol' fruit company would ever give us stock holders a reason to celebrate. Perhaps I'll look at this again in the fall, after touristy prices fall a bit and the weather is cooler. October earnings-time might be good for NYC and AFB.

Mrs. Rez. and I have finally sold our house. I'm wrapping up book layout, for self publishing West By Sea. We are living in a motor home full time, and will be traveling around North America as part of the book promotion tour. It would be fun to connect with AFB stalwarts who don't mind meeting other crazy Apple fanatics face-to-face. The general idea right now is Montreal in a few weeks, then USA east coast from north to south, September to November. USA gulf coast from December to February 2016. USA desert March to April. SOCAL May. NORCAL June. Northwest July. Northern tier states August, New England September. Then we look at the weather and finances to see if central USA states seem good, or if it is time to move back into a real house.
Happy to connect if you are in one of these general areas - send a PM. Keep having a GREAT summer.

I'd definitely make NYC as I'm a short train ride away. :-) Count me in pretty much any time if people got together there.

I'm south of Annapolis MD, 40 minutes from Baltimore and Washington DC. So when you swing by, give me a holler and maybe we can get together.

Got some PMs from people. We were still writing the book and on a mission when heading down the east coast, through Florida, then across the Gulf Coast to escape Mardi Gras Madness. BUT NOW - the book is done (see other thread)! So it is time to start some book signings and promotion.
The next two weeks will be spent near El Paso getting rewards out to our Kickstarter Backers. Then we will head up to the Sedona, AZ area (through Phoenix) until about March 15th. We will be in Las Vegas, NV from March 16th - March 20th. Then it is onward to Southern California (San Diego, LA for the LA Times Book Festival) and up the coast to SF and wine country before the end of April. We will reach out to those who sent PMs as we get closer.
