They edited my sig over there to remove the link to here. Just validates my opinion of the management. Well, that and the fact that when I brought it up in the rant thread on Monday, Dave denied that they were doing anything to censor references to this board. So he lied, or changed his mind shortly after--either way, truly a crass act...

I do not trade AAPL daily so I can't understand why someone would even bother for $5 in share price, one way or the other. Trading options would be the way to go, but the risk is to high to me. It is probably just me, but I do not see Apple announcing anything less than 6 million on Monday. It was 4 million last year and the launch is broader. Anything less than 5 million will be met with a sell-off IMO. Here is the thing, do you want to bet against Apple? Not me. I am sticking to the plan. Ditto. I could have written this post myself. However, I see a real benefit for options traders in an AAPL split. Each contract is 100 shares, and having options prices at the levels dictated by a share price of $700 certainly affects options traders.

New Nansen blog post tonight, "Expecting the Unexpected" nanseninvestments.com/"Apple is showing us again how the market makers keep Apple pninned at the 700 level until the huge volume of Sept 700 calls are cleared. I do not complain about it because it is a fact all Apple investors have to deal with, especially those who invest in options. Mani explained yesterday how to successfully take advantage of this phenomena week in and week out. I fully expect to see Apple rise up on Friday sometime when it is finally free of this collar. It is showing amazing strength. When it lifts, the immediate target will be 723. . . . "

Thought is that when the Sept calls clear and numbers of iPhone sold are released, it will be "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead."

That sounds about right. IMHO, whenever we've seen OI weekly pins, it's usually right at the biggest call OI, or about $5 above. I'd be willing to wager some money on that.

That'd be me.
Thing is, butterflies require guts, luck, skill, and hopefully, the stock price being a good ways _away_ from the target when they're bought.
We'll see how things go starting tomorrow. If I buy butterflies, it'll be a very, very small buy.
