Good to see a nominal ATH close, but the dip at the end is exactly what I'd look for in a Wednesday monthly OpEx week with almost 32K 700 calls sitting there - OE's driving the price down.
Don't be surprised/afraid if we close 699.xx or below on Friday. Buy the F'n dip.

Speaking of buying the fking dip, today coming to work I saw a car with a custom licence plate "BFD" and wondered if that was a AFB member

Just updated to iOS6. Flyover is missing in suburbian Toronto, Canada. I guess I'll be looking at downloading Google's new Maps app (supposedly loaded with ads now). 3D works in my town, but it's not going to replace street view. Even very tall buildings are flattened out and you can't really get a good look at the facade. But I think the standard map view looks better. I haven't taken it on the road yet, but the actual directions seem correct. I will download the Google map app when it becomes available, but I will not use it unless the default Maps can't handle something. Siri is definitely faster. Her voice has a deeper timbre on my iPad. Nice.

Safari on iOS6 seems to load amazingly fast, even on my iPad 3 and 4S. I know it's got a new speedy javascript engine but holy cow the loading bar just zips by.

I'm really liking the blunter gears on the settings icon in iOS6. Never understood why iOS5's settings icon had such sharp pointy gear teeth.

Mr. Market really did a number on the weekly options today. ATM calls down, ATM puts, way down. The number of open interest in the calls did come down, but not enough.

I don't really see what all the hoopla is about the maps. I've used it along with iOS 6 beta for several months now and I find it quite good. The turn by turn voice instructions as well as the detailed screen views showing you exactly where to go when coming to a turn or an intersection are what seals the deal for me. They are fabulous.
I do find the search somewhat limiting. Every now and then I can't find something that I know google would find. Pretty rare though.
I am already used to having Siri telling when what to do, she may as well tell me where to go now! :-)

Apple Is Most-Held Stock Among Large Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds Too "Apple took over as the most-held stock among the largest-50 mutual fund top-10 lists in the second quarter. Apple remained the most widely-held name in hedge funds, a reality since the third quarter of 2010. Google came in second in the ranking, followed by Microsoft (MSFT). In the first quarter, Apple (AAPL) was number two to Microsoft in mutual fund top-10 holdings, but it moved ahead in the second quarter, making 22 top-ten lists, according to a report put out by Tobias Levkovich, north American equity strategist at Citi Research." tinyurl.com/chkks7t

I knew something was wrong when there were only 2 pages of intraday responses when AAPL hit $700 on AFB1. JD, a $3 or so move doesn't even seem like a real dip when that's less than a 0.5% move (given aapl's track record of huge up/downswings) - are you saying that in the short-term it's not going any lower than $699.xx so this would be considered a good opportunity to "buy the dip" (in your opinion)? I only ask because I'm still kind of holding out for a larger dip but maybe that'll only happen after another $50 run. Thanks!

And as Travis Lewis tweeted today, it's a work-in-progress, just as iPhone 1 had no MMS or landscape mode.

I just deleted and then downloaded proboards...aapltrader is working fine but "our" bd. doesn't show 9/19 in Intraday....everything else appears to be there . And a whole lotta apps are updating at the moment, so I'm back to the Mac.
Maps view of my place is excellent...can see everything except the bull elk lurking in the woods to the west.
no delivery confirmation with a tracking # yet for Friday but ATT acknowledged a change to my acct.

Agreed, Safari is loading pages much faster under IOS6. Aapl is back to even with the upper Bollie band after 3 'high flier' days. Combined with the big call/put positions $700 makes this day seem sort of ordained. My guess is that the next breakout will have to wait for next week at the earliest. JMO ;D cheers to the longs JohnG

The complaint is that the new iPhone maps app doesn't provide an option for public transit directions. The author states how this omission is so bad for people who take public transit every day. My question would be, Do the vast majority of public transit riders really need a map app to figure out how to get to work every day?

I only ask because I'm still kind of holding out for a larger dip but maybe that'll only happen after another $50 run. Thanks! First off, no short-term predictions, just reactions. I play both sides of the fence, just like the TA'ers. I like to look at the last last 30 minutes, last 10, and last 5 of the trading day. Generally, a trend up or down starts at one of those times. 30 seems the most common and indicative. Today, I was watching, waiting, at 12:30/3:30, "please go up and F the EO's." But no, boom, right at 30, we start the typical Wednesday descent into Thurs/Fri OpEx hell. Not significant as a percentage, but remember, a call only has to close 1 cent out of the money not to pay off in shares (e.g., 32K $700 contracts = 3.2 million shares of AAPL. So a close of 703 would cost MM's $9.6M).* No, I do not necessarily think 699.99 will be a bottom on Fri, just a likely one. Current OpEx puts-v-calls are all over the place, with no clear max pain range. 670 13,758 20,975 675 7,839 13,450 680 11,276 14,245 685 9,357 12,570 690 20,340 13,190 695 13,087 12,132 700 31,735 10,506 We could be in sentiment mode, or a hybrid mode, the latter of which I think we have been in for several weeks. That is, news trumps pain to some degree, but not completely. So, just because we don't close at the perfect max pain range (IMO, the 5$ range between the top puts and top calls, if such a place unequivocally exists), doesn't mean our close isn't affected somewhat. For example, in the above OpEx numbers, 685-689.99 is the likely pain range in normal times. But with all the iPhone hoopla right now, this isn't a normal time. EO's power isn't unlimited (nor is their agenda only pain), and they likely have a "don't make this murder-the-call-buyers too fucking obvious" algo in their bag of quant tricks. But those 32K 700's? Not all that hard for MM's to sell into Friday and make AAPL close at 699.99 or below. It's especially comical when AAPL goes right back up in the AH. Comical in a "I hope you EO's die in a fire" sort of way. Gun to head, I'd rather call a Fri 700 top than a 699.99 bottom. But before you call me Beary McBuzzkill, whatever we close at on Fri, I REALLY like the next 3-4 weeks going into the iPad Mini and earnings. The beauty of all of this is, if I am right, I look smart. If I am wrong (which I hope for every week) I get richer. Win-win. * Obviously, a lot of these calls will close up before expiry, but you get the point.

I tried to private message someone over there that was asking where to find us. Received a "blacklisted" message. I assume that means they've removed my ability to private message anyone there. Can we all say "Bush league"? Try putting some odd characters in the URL (and give instructions to remove them to the person you're PMing). I just sent one to Mace. aapl•financeboard•2.pro•boards.com/

Here's how. http:%2f/aaplfinanceboard2.proboards.com That %2f is code for the forward slash character, "/". It shows up as "/" and results in a working, clickable link.

Quad witching Friday is kind of whatever. What's AAPL's history on those days? (too tired/lazy to look!) I don't remember. All I know is weird stuff can happen on quad witching days and AAPL could easily lose 700 just for a little while. We're all waiting on next week anyway, so I won't get too concerned as long as AAPL maintains 690 or something. I should be calculating a Fib retrace or two just in case. I should _also_ be looking into chasing some butterflies (again) on a trial basis.

They edited my sig over there to remove the link to here. That's kind of amusing. It is advertising of a sort, yes, but no point editing it now. The forum lost over 90% of its viewership practically overnight. It's quite a lesson in PR, if there's a willingness to learn from it.

I should _also_ be looking into chasing some butterflies (again) on a trial basis. Might be a good week for that! If we get a pop tomorrow, even if small, they might get pretty cheap. Otherwise, wait until after the open Friday and get a feel for direction and then give it a whirl. Good luck!

Wonder if there will be new commercials once the phone is out officially. God I hope they aren't remotely like those awful Genius commercials that bombed.
