They'll probably be like the MBP and 4S commercials.

Just sold 5 of my Sep 680 calls @ 24.10 for a profit of ~12K. I have two more days to sell the remaining 10. 710 by Friday seems within range if the OpEx thingy doesn't kill the steady momentum. You scared the stuffing out of me with those purchases -- I am THRILLED it worked out for you! Way to go!

Wonder if there will be new commercials once the phone is out officially. God I hope they aren't remotely like those awful Genius commercials that bombed. I'm pretty sure Apple PR learned their lesson after the huge backlash. At least they reacted quickly, not like Microsoft with the horrendous Bill Gates/Seinfeld commercials.

They edited my sig over there to remove the link to here. Mine too. They also deleted forum posts with the link and even lovemyipad's post with the link spelled out thus: aaplfinanceboard2 (dot) proboards (dot) com It seems, however, that PMing it still works. Even posting it still works, but why bother if they're deleting. Most everyone is here already anyway. Also, JD sent me this (thanks!): tinyurl.com/MacObserverSucksThey'd probably delete it too, but who cares? It's funny.

PS And yes, I am aware that we will still be able to download Google Maps on our iPhone 5 but it gets under my skin that AAPL hooks up with a mediocre partner to produce this...and supposedly not up to the caliber of AAPL. If it wasn't ready for prime time, why do it? Stealth development? Could Apple be putting the polish on a leap ahead Maps app as we speak?, while not giving Google any indication of what's about to hit them?

MMm, yeah, here's the deal. I hate these stories. No offense, and I'm not shooting the messenger, but they are stupid. It's as if Santa's elves magically create iPhones. These silly stories do not include the price of: Licensing R&D Marketing Shipping Assembly, aka, BUILDING Apple's 43,000 employees Taxes (sales, corporate, etc) iOS Electricity Huge, UFO-shaped buildings Lots of other stuff I missed Gah! /Rant It's been reported many times that GM on the iPhone is about 52%. I tried to find it, but Donna just put a Taco Casserole in front of me, so I quit looking. But if you deduct 52% from the unsubsidized price of a 16GB Wi-Fi only iPhone, then deducted reported BOM, I'll bet you end up with a fairly accurate cost of overhead and development, etc.

It'll be more permanent that way. New Siri voice takes some getting used to. In generally, sounds like iOS 6...well...changed the sound on my 4S a little bit. Hard to describe, it's a bit different. Will definitely have to get my iPad updated soon.

If Q4 2012 EPS ranges between $9 and $10, and with Q4 2011 EPS of $7.05, we might add only $2 to $3 to TTM EPS this quarter. My working estimate is $45.50 TTM at quarter's end. Unless I'm missing something, stock price appreciation next quarter will result from P/E expansion. Given the monster quarter that lies ahead in Q1 2013, I do expect P/E expansion, but everyone should be aware that we have seen a P/E of 14 recently enough, which would bring the price down to $640 if Q4 EPS comes in at $10. Note: the attached file charts stock price, EPS for Q4, and P/E levels. I'm not sure why it's not showing as an image. Attachments:

This 701/702 pin is frustrating. If Apple hasn't used up those 10 billion buyback dollars yet, maybe they should step in now and give the stock a kick-start towards 750. Come on, give us a break. Since Aug 31 (19 days) AAPL is UP $46 (7%), and you're upset with a 2 day "pin" at $702? You'll not get any sympathy from me.

Good to see a nominal ATH close, but the dip at the end is exactly what I'd look for in a Wednesday monthly OpEx week with almost 32K 700 calls sitting there - OE's driving the price down. Don't be surprised/afraid if we close 699.xx or below on Friday. Buy the F'n dip. Ordinarily I'd agree with you on this. But selling Friday, with a report you know is going to be made on Monday or Tuesday, on the number of weekends sales made, is just plain stupid. Yes there are stupid people out there, but there are a ton of people eager for a buying opportunity. I think the buyers will successfully prop AAPL up through the announcement.

Don't be surprised/afraid if we close 699.xx or below on Friday. Buy the F'n dip. Hi. Glad I found this place. I knew something was wrong when there were only 2 pages of intraday responses when AAPL hit $700 on AFB1. JD, a $3 or so move doesn't even seem like a real dip when that's less than a 0.5% move (given aapl's track record of huge up/downswings) - are you saying that in the short-term it's not going any lower than $699.xx so this would be considered a good opportunity to "buy the dip" (in your opinion)? I only ask because I'm still kind of holding out for a larger dip but maybe that'll only happen after another $50 run. Thanks! The 5 DMA of AAPL's trading range is ~$6.00. Last week it was over $10.00. A $3.00 move is nothing.

I do not trade AAPL daily so I can't understand why someone would even bother for $5 in share price, one way or the other. Trading options would be the way to go, but the risk is to high to me. It is probably just me, but I do not see Apple announcing anything less than 6 million on Monday. It was 4 million last year and the launch is broader. Anything less than 5 million will be met with a sell-off IMO. Here is the thing, do you want to bet against Apple? Not me. I am sticking to the plan.

Here is the current monthly O/I for Friday's OPEX aaplpain.com/?page_id=8. What's interesting is that a significant number of puts were opened today at 700, which should provide support at that level.

Bear in mind, a 700 pin from 702 means far less than say a 400 pin from 402.
I'm fine whether AAPL pops, hovers at 700, or dips a bit to 690.

The only caveat is the possibility of a much higher eps for this quarter and the dividend keeping our p/e above 14.5. In that scenario we may be looking at the lows for the rest of the year. That being 680-700.
