All this talk about moving to another board reminds me of the original AFB1. I don't log on every day but this board is the first thing I read in the morning. There were a lot of tumultuous times since I first invested in AAPL in May 2012 (age 24). I put my life savings $55k into AAPL LEAPS and lost 70% of it within a couple years. I now sit a bit more comfortably at over $350k and I just wanna thank our beloved fruit company and all of you for your contributions. Here's to $414.09 & $2T!

Side note, Berkshire Hathaway reports earnings today. Interesting to see what Uncle Warren has to say about his AAPL position. I find it interesting that all of us on this board have a smaller cost basis in AAPL stock than the greatest investor of all time.

Just wanted to chime in and also say, "Congrats to the longs." I bought the bulk of my shares back in 2008 shortly after getting my hands on my first generation iPhone. Knowing that it was going to change the mobile industry along with the world was my motivation to invest. While not having the capital I would have liked back in those days, I have still been able to turn an initially small investment then to over six figures now by just buying and holding. The reinvested dividends along with some injections of cash along the way have grown my position and I'm very happy with where things are. I know some of you have made some serious cash over the last decade, color me a bit jealous. Still though, I am very happy for the decision I made to invest back in 2008.
Cheers to the longs!
Edit: Forget to say that although I don't post a lot, I lurk every single day. This is usually my first read of the morning when I get to work, and typically my last when I go to bed. Although I don't actively participate, I appreciate all the posters who do an offer such insightful commentary and discussion.

FWIW: I remind myself regularly that gains are not 'profit' until they are realized. 😉

A word of caution. Apple went into great detail in its latest 10Q regarding risk from tariffs. No mention of this risk back in January.
I think the trade war is in early innings and we are in a stronger position. However I think both sides will inflict pain on each other during the process.
So if China decides to send a strong message, Apple could be impacted short term with their sales there.
Get ready for a 15% drop or higher when that news comes out.
In Feb and April we got a few warning shots.

FWIW: I remind myself regularly that gains are not 'profit' until they are realized. 😉 That's certainly true, Since84, and yet somehow, when the AAPL share price has pulled back over the years, AAPL naysayers have had no problem telling us how much money we've *lost* because of that pullback.

Are we loosing steam or am I just being greedy? I think that second one. Sideways is our best friend - let's digest that whole $trillion thing for a bit. #Don'tGoParabolic

I've noticed something in the last few days, that I'm sure many of you have as well. The narrative about Apple has changed. Gone is the "Hyperbolic", or "too expensive" message. Now we get the "Great PE", "Incredible Value" message. Take for example the one posted earlier Apple is worth One Trillion Dollars, but not for long. My initial reaction was that this will be a hit piece, saying how the stock will drop. NO, the author is saying AAPL will be up 40% by the end of 2019. They're talking > $280 in that time frame. This kind of message just a month ago would have been laughed at. The move since earnings have been beyond my wildest dreams. I'm hoping this new narrative stays with us for a while.

I think now that every one has seen a trillion dollar valuation and that, my god, the world didn’t implode, the market will get comfortable with the idea that AAPL and trillion go together quite well. It’s a threshold the market crossed and now the foot is well and truly in the door. So now that this has been established it doesn’t mater if there is any market correction that in-turn drags AAPL down because this just enables all and sundry to BTFD... Including Apple.
And..... we (AAPL) still have a plausible valuation so the risk is low.

Well I think the change in narrative from "OMG LAW OF LARGE NUMBERS!!!" last time we approached $1T to "milestone" is that so many companies that the Apple haters like are so close to $1T cap, that Apple gets a pass. Gotta give Tim some credit for kicking the can with all the buybacks to let the other companies catch up. FWIW, I think market cap is a fairly pointless metric. Or should TSLA have a 50% larger market cap than Ford? Here's some wild dreams perspective: My family bought $X amount of AAPL in 1993. It took ~15 years to get to $10X. This week, we made $10X. And I know I'm still not the happiest guy on this board. to the longs! And here's to $300 by 2020.

Must admit I was a bit surprised there wasn't more hesitation in crossing the threshold. That was what was so intriguing watching AAPL Thursday morning. I'm still pinching myself.

Not surprised at all. I got banned from Braeburn for preaching that we would hit $3 trillion in 20 years. He hated that I was insanely bullish. Robert would argue with me for hours on the phone when I talked about $1 trillion 6 years ago. He got outride hostile when I spoke very positively about the Beats acquisition and growth of wearables with blacks and minorties. Wearables is a bigger story then services. Apple still has many more amazing products and services to be released for the future. And yes we will correct 35% again. The iPhone will continue to be a cash cow for at least 8 more years.
