The crowds made have caused a safety issue for customers and employees. A company with the resources of Apple should be able to plan accordingly for the circus and keep it under control. Just saying. It's a lost opp to generate some buzz.

Ted, they could control the number of people they let in the store at one time. Turning everyone away last year was a pr mistake. The energy created by the long lines is priceless. NO lines this year, that can not be undone.
Lstream, of those you mentioned, not one of them was Apple restricting sales. Hell, a Chinese woman was tased yesterday when trying to buy iphones to send to China. The Apple store manager told her to leave, when she didn't, they called the police, the police tased her while face down on the ground.
Yes I am angry, but I do not think defending Apple continuously when they make mistakes is the right thing either.

I think this is the biggest mistake Apple has ever made. Really?!? What about the special event to announce a $100 leather iPod case? Antenna-gate? Apple Maps? I understand everyone is frustrated. But to claim that not allowing lines to form or not enabling scalpers to profit is the "biggest mistake Apple has ever made" is, I believe, short-sighted. Yeah right now we need a good mass riot in line. Perhaps a knifing. Maybe a hostage situation involving an Apple store Manager. This is the kind of news we need right now to get a reversal or mute all those component order issues. Of course I jest but it does strike me a little bizarre to believe we are talking about the demand; of a phone. BTW little anecdotal: a contact at my nearest apple store said since the unlocked iPhone was released in the U.S. they have had Chinese people walking in buying as many as they have on hand not matter what the model; all cash. if they try to limit per person, within an hour more Chinese show up. Once again hard to believe this is about a phone. We will tell our grandchildren about this one day.

We have said it on this board in the past - AAPL is always held to a different and higher standard at so many levels. Just take a look at AMZN whose symbol should be MADOFF.

It's a lost opp to generate some buzz. This truly has gotten funny. I can remember videos of lines in London that stretched around blocks and across streets. Apple hired people for crowd control. With the resources Apple has, crowd control should be a non-issue and the safety thing is a cop out. China is Apple's future. I will say no more about it.

I'm logging into my account right now and selling everything. We need more stories about demand being way down in China and resulting hits to the PPS. Everyone here may know it's BS but we are in the minority.

Hong Kong also has the online lottery system but the store are pretty crowded with regular customers and lottery winners lining up to pick up their product.

I'm often an early mover, and this case is no different. However, as happened yesterday, we could have got a rip higher in the few minutes prior to the open. Now we have climbed higher, how high do we go? I'm thinking possibly 530. wheeles, how do things look for your perch now? UBS guy on CNBC on in the noon hour. keep in mind his bear case PT is 475 Even if we are going lower in the not too distant future, we could still get a bounce to the 10m 200 EMA which is currently around 528. No guarantees, of course, as nobody knows the future. I only took this punt at the end of the PM as I had seen a similar setup yesterday and had been kicking myself for not closing my short and looking for a higher entry. This time around, I closed out my short at 518.56 and was looking for an entry. I saw something similar and thought: we're not far off strong support, so even if I'm wrong, I could probably get out reasonably unscathed. Of course, I should have waited, but I would have been highly irritated if AAPL had suddenly taken off like a rocket. BTW, I used to work for UBS. Not in equities though. I imagine they've sacked most of the staff where I worked since I left.

I don't know what an exhaustion gap is, could you explain? It's really no different from any other gap, except that it's the last one in a move and doesn't last too long except if the price gaps the other way not long after. There's no telling for sure at the time whether a gap is an exhaustion gap until the trend is properly broken.

I blame the marketing department for apple. Samsung is killing them in commercials, celebrity endorsements, product placement and witty ads. Apple just runs these boring feel good ads that are terrible. Apple has done a horrible job promoting the ip5. It is the best phone but the public barely knows it is on sale/how good it is. All they do is read that the stock is doing terrible and the company is boring in media. Wake up Apple Management you are letting this lead slip away fast.

iPhone launched in 33 countries today, which is obviously bad news, stock drops. Some dope at UBS claims China demand isn't going to be great, cut his target from $780 to $700. Wasn't it UBS that was selling Apple a few days ago, before their downgrade tanked the stock? Stupid or manipulation?

You truly believe that people in the US do not know that the iP5 is on sale? Considering that it has just been in the past weeks that availability was <2 weeks, I suspect Apple was selling every one they had. Now, I will agree the buzz is a little less than usual, but not less than what we saw last year at this time.

My account is down $30K but that elementary school shooting makes me realize I don't have any problems.
My heart and prayers go out to all of those affected. I can't imagine what those kindergartener's parents are going through.
Losing a bunch of money in the stock market is really a first world problem. Be thankful you all have additional funds to be able to invest.
