PED has Did Apple buy Netflix? It did not., which is actually about the purchase of the (relatively) small price paid for Pullstring, the interactive voice technology behind Hello Barbie (!). There is also a good comment from Kirk Burgess (was he a former AFB'er?) that is a reminder of what the Beats acquisition, one of Apple's larger buys, has turned into. 9TO5Mac has Tim Cook says Apple will participate in the ‘breakdown’ of the cable bundle ‘in a variety of ways’. We remain extremely satisfied TiVo subscribers, which forever freed us from having to be in front of the TV when a show runs and enables us to see all of any shows that overlap in time, ... ...as well as AirPods 2: Everything we know about the followup to Apple’s truly wireless earbuds, including a rumored black color. AppleWorld Today has Apple patent is for ‘remotely controlling’ a hearing aid, which could presage certain functional enhancements to AirPods as well. Finally, The Loop has Samsung poised to challenge Apple at retail in US with first full-scale stores. Color me skeptical, and the descriptions of their prior retail efforts in the US and UK are not inspiring.

I would cut the cord in a second, but my wife wants regular channels to flip thru.
I love the Apple TV and the Video App is very handy. It does lack Netflix and searching for movies does not always give me accurate responses.
What I find interesting is that it has been reported that the original content from Apple will be offered for free to those who own their devices. If that is the case, it would be a first for Apple when it comes to video or music. Time will tell if the content is good enough to get folks to buy iPhones, Apple TVs, and iPads. We will also know in a couple of years or less that if successful as a business model, Apple will start to charge.
They were forced to offer streaming when it was clear that people were buying less songs. I remember back in 2010 how they bragged about the growth of iTune sales. When asked about switching to subscription streaming SJ said no one wants to rent music but own it.
In regards to stock, some TA folks are saying we will drop to 166 and then take of to 185-190. I can see that happening simply because Apple has not kept up with the SPY. All the news if upcoming event and a China Deal can be catalyst for the move. Should be noted that many are also saying we will see 120 by June.
I am less convinced of that low since I have concluded Trump will make a deal with China by then. So chances of major hiccups in China with Apple will go away. What I mean by hiccups is China playing hardball with Apple and threading to shut them out of the Chinese market all together or even close their factories. The stock market drop in Dec. got Trump’s attention and he will do anything to prevent it again. Unfortunately that will not change a slow world and US economy which will still drive the market down. The recent bounce was on low volume with more money on the sidelines then ever.

Stock might go to $166, might also go to $120 and might also go to $190. China will do a trade deal unless there is a “hiccup” and they shut down all their stores and close down the factories and put hundreds of thousands out of work. That cleared a few things up for me.

The reversal in the SPY on Dec 26 cont to have legs. Last week it was the opportunity to go back down but we went in the opposite direction. Looks like a run to 280+ is very possible. Time will tell how long we stay above the 200MA. Last time it lasted only two days. Given the volume on Friday I think it will stay up there a little longer. as a result aapl should follow as well.
SPY Put OI is going down for March and call OI for aapl is going up.

So to recap: You can’t get Netflix on your Apple TV. No, no. I watch netflix on AppleTV all the time. There's a TV app on Apple TV, and netflix doesn't participate in that app. But you can watch netflix all day long in netflix's own app on AppleTV, which is quite good.
