Car audio is a mess. Has been for years. Now add on-the-go text, navigation, FM transmitters, aux cables, funky EQ settings, backseat video, bluetooth telephony - gah! Enter the iDash, a networked in-dash command center that unifies those features while making the roads safer. Primary interface is Siri who knows the voice of regular drivers and sets the car for each. Initial setup for existing cars done by Apple Store techs while you wait & shop. Factory option for new cars. Fix all the above problems, Apple. You'll get a two year refresh cycle going on the road. The Apple webpage for car audio integration still shows stuff from pre-lightning cable days. www.apple.com/ipod/car-integration/I'm reminded of the ROKR from Cingular, which had iTunes integration on the nameplate, but in practice was unworkable. Anyone using factory-sanctioned Apple integration care to chime in?

The iPod classic gets a nudge on that page. 40,000 songs ? One person on my phone list has that many, one way or another.
Check out the list of carmakers with iPod integration.

I just installed a double din touchscreen stereo in my van a few months back. The interface is horrible and I'm already looking for ways to integrate an iPad mini. I'd love to be able to dock an iPad mini in the dash and have it control the majority of the vehicles convenience functions including climate controls.
