Merry Christmas Eve to all. Shortened day in Europe...and shortened day in the U.S. markets as well (1:00 pm). Futures looking red on fiscal cliff concerns and AAPL looking like a granny smith right now let's hope it stays that way all the way to the close!

need to get a few more trades in before year end to meet my quota ...
so far looking good in PM up $5+... well, at least for AAPL ... futures not so hot right now with S&P down about 0.26%
US markets will be open on Wed but closed in all countries observing Boxing Day
AAPL's up over 28% YTD so let's keep things in perspective ... Merry Christmas to all but especially the longs

Can people in other countries tell me how much traffic/people are around the iPhone 5 tables in their local Apple Stores? I spent the weekend at the Apple Store at Fairview Mall in Toronto, ON, and there was a marked lack of people around the iPhone 5 table (as compared to the iPad Mini table, the Macs table, and even around the accessories near the back of the store). I know that a lot of people buy their iPhones on contract from carrier stores, but two years ago 2 months after the iPhone 4 came out there was a lot more interest and people around the iPhone 4 table.

Over in Braeburn, a southern California store has seen very brisk sales.

Daily MACDh just went positive. But considering a potential bull trap here. We're not out of the woods yet.

AAPL the stock seems to trade up when volume is low and news stories are at a minimum. I suspect this may be a good week for apple.

Hmm. Decent action but nothing I wanna buy just yet. Just keeping what I already have on the table.
Rangebound hypothesis still in play. If AAPL ends green I'll call it a small win. A strong day = may test a long right before mkt close.

Couple that with free Iphone 5 on 3 year contract for new customers,( 3 years is standard for Canada) and you can think only 2 things: Supply is out of this world and stores are flooded with iphone 5 or sales are not going well.

This could be playing into the bear or bull count. Don't stress yet.

You can't assume based on traffic around a table at a store at a specific time to be a very good measurement of overall sales. One must look at transactions in the store. By now most already played with the iPhone and are either buying or waiting for the right moment. Also keep in mind iPhone sales are much bigger internationally and relying on US sales is not always the best indicator. With that said I think my 55 million for this quarter maybe too high. We shall see.

Can somebody help me find the "Apple TV" thread? I poked around for about three days and tried the search feature a couple times. Or have we just never discussed the Apple TV (and rumors) outside the intraday thread?
If no thread already exists I'll start one in the iStuff section...

From Henry at SI www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=28622832While nobody should rely on my TA take, the above analysis seems to be confirmed by today's action provided we can move back to about 550 before long. Is it finally time for some TA to work in a bullish direction?

need to get a few more trades in before year end to meet my quota ... This last week I was advised that I have to register with the SEC as a large trader. I fear scrutiny is on the door step.

I'm sorry, but showing one bounce as a possible left shoulder of an IHS is not TA, but wishful thinking. You need a head and the start of the right shoulder before drawing any conclusions at all.

I suspect this may be a good week for apple. Indeed. P/C Ratio dropped to .67:1 Friday, down from .68:1 (the high of the last 5 weeks). That's a very good sentiment indicator. Three months ago WS's EPS consensus for January was $15.59. Consensus is down a great deal since the sell off began. I think this is stupid, because Apple's fundamentals have not changed to the worse. The only thing that has changed is AAPL's valuation, which has been driven down by external factors, not changes in Apple's fundamentals. This, I believe, is setting Apple up to handsomely beat expectations, and we all know what happens when Apple does that. I fully expect Apple to report more than $15.59, and am projecting $16.80. If the institutions are in agreement we will see a solid increase in AAPL starting next week, and carrying through until earnings.

Merry Christmas all. Does anyone use Jason Schwarz's services & what is your opinion? Can you provide a link? Thxs I dont use them, but I have talked to someone who does. He expects a move to $600 by earnings with a nice move upwards towards $700 post earnings if they are good.

Is the iPhone priced to high?
Does Apple need to introduce a less expensive model?
Before answering those questions, let me first say that those that harp on Apple's pricing strategy know nothing about marketing. If price were the cats meow then all a manufacturer would have to do is line up the competition, then price it's product for less. But wait, what about product differentiation? Exactly, what about it?
Dell, HP, ASUS, Lenovo, et al have nothing to differentiate themselves, other than price. They are selling the same things, with slightly different wrappers. How is that working for them? You'd have to ask AT&T, Gateway, eMachines, Olivetti, Singer and a dozen others no longer in the business to get that answer.
So lets ask a real price sensitive consumer what they think of Apple's iPhone pricing.
I stopped by a Cricket store today where they had the iPhone 5 prominently displayed. For those that don't know about Cricket, they do not offer post paid programs ala AT&T and Verizon. All of their programs are pre-paid, which means the consumer buys a handset (full retail without subsidy) then pays for usage as they go.
The iPhones were offered for full retail price, and according to the Store manager, were selling as strong (maybe stronger) than the current Galaxy.
The consumers that many feel Apple needs to address are already buying full priced handsets, be they Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Windows or iPhone, and buying in enough quantity to Cricket's doors open.
Thankfully, Apple knows better than the self-annointed "experts".

The moment a cheaper iPhone is announced by TC is the moment I will quit investing in this company.
Yes, this is a change from my prior feelings on this. The iPhone is not the iPad. We don't need a smaller, cheaper version.
