Well the truce that everyone expected between US and China has come to fruition. Hard to tell how much it will move the stock. We will need more good news like removal of some tariffs to really get the party going.
We were at 201 and change on Thursday which at the time indicated a move to 203 by Friday. So I expect at least 203 on Monday. Let’s see what news comes out of the 72 hour trade talk, before going on to at least 208 or even 214 if we get lucky. Big moves happen quickly and very steeply in both directions.
Regarding Johny, I think he was basically trying to leave the Apple Mafia a second time. I have heard from many that working there is very taxing on family life. The fact that he was flying to London often, tells me he wanted a more stress less life where he could be gone for months not just a few days.
I am confident that Apple will do fine without his constant input on every project. I see big things coming out that beautiful building he designed. So he is leaving behind an incredible culture of style and innovation. There are plenty of young engineers and designers ready to work and refine the next big hit.
I just wonder how much more time he will devote on the Apple Car.

Norman Forster and his Lieutenants were designing pencils for iPads whilst Jony singlehandedly designed and documented the spaceship.... I mean, how hard can a circle be?

Based on this, I usually read your guidance with interest. I am a little concerned about your predictions recently. Didn't you recently beat the drum for Apple being as low as 120 by June? I am too lazy to go back through the posts to find it, but this seems like a pretty dramatic miss. I think it would help your credibility if you would offer some explanations about what went differently than you expected. Please don't take this as an attempt to embarrass you, obviously no one gets it right all the time and you have proven yourself better at this then many people who are charging lots of money for what you share for free.

Wired makes a pretty good case for an unlikely proposition with HOW THE IPHONE HELPED SAVE THE PLANET. There's actually not much about Apple or AAPL, but it is an interesting viewpoint.

<... the much-derided current MacBook line and its keyboard, which certainly has taken a few hits right here on AFB .>
Our family went to three 12" MacBooks with the new keyboards for 6 months of traveling, from 2 MacBook Pro 13" 2015, and a 12" MacBook Air. The trip is over, and I'm transitioning back to what we had before. Why? The keyboards.
The keyboards of the MacBook 12" were OK, feel-wise, but not great. The stuck key problems haven't been OK; we've already had one Genius bar repair visit for one unit, and I've another tomorrow for a 2nd unit. Sure they're under warranty, but its still a hassle. (And there is an extended service program for 4 years, I think.)
I'll likely buy 3 of the next MacBook Air 13" or MacBook 12" when they've improved keyboards. We enjoyed the svelte-ness of the 12".
We just bought a bunch of HomePods from Target.com (sale of $199.99, Space Grey out of stock).
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's open.

Yes I did say we could see 120 by June. I also explained back in January and Feb, that as long as Trump blinks on trade we would be OK. He has flipped on some tariffs by initially delaying them in Dec and then threatening to add more just last month. So sentiment changes with his tweets. Initially in Dec 2018 options showed a move towards at least 140 by May. Sentiment changed to bullish as soon as earnings came out in January and that low target was off the table. You may not recall but at that point, I stated that the summer correction I anticipated would be delayed until Dec. I no longer think we would go that low. I think we will have to wait 12 months to go to 120. But regardless of what the Fed does or what type of a tariff resolution we get, I still think we will be in a recession by January 2020. By the way the quarterly results play a small role in in what direction aapl is going. The numbers were bad in April, yet the stock went up because they weren't that bad. I did wisely buy puts right after earnings and made some money. I also bought calls after hitting RSI of 30 and made back some of my losses of trying to time a rebound in May. I am in calls now hope to make even more by end of this week. We will see what we do tomorrow and if we hold 202 at least

Tim Cook appeared on CBS Sunday Morning today with a statement about his and Apple's values: www.cbsnews.com/news/tim-cook-on-the-work-still-needed-for-lgbtq-equality-2019-06-30/For anyone who hasn't seen CBS Sunday Morning, it is a wonderful program that I have watched weekly for nearly 40 years; it is always filled with good, heart-warming stories with not too much political content and always a touch of nature at the end.

Regarding Johny, I think he was basically trying to leave the Apple Mafia a second time. I have heard from many that working there is very taxing on family life. The fact that he was flying to London often, tells me he wanted a more stress less life where he could be gone for months not just a few days. I'm pretty sure that this came up from or about Jony a year ago, when there was some change. But you know, each person has to decide what is most important, and once needing more money from work is off the table, there are other pulls that are more attainable. For some it's family, especially if you've moved away. Others you can glean from people who have been through this, like Woz. He's been in education in multiple ways over the years, and is working on it again. Just like health care and insurance, there's something there to go after, and something that can make a dent and change things. It's a matter of finding it and getting traction. It's all about scale-up at some point, if making a big dent is what you're after. Things change, and people reevaluate what is important. Jony has made some great strides over the years, but it's also great to move on and let those he's worked with over the years take on greater roles, instead of having them feel they have to go elsewhere to reach for the top and likely get a little more spotlight shining their way. Internal politics always happen, and events can be framed different ways. Likewise, different people react different ways, so what one sees as negative might just be constructive feedback to another. Apple has quite a culture in it's way that is does thing, built over decades and now even approaching a half century. While the products have changed, the root idea of taking the complex and making a useful simple product out of it hasn't. A product for the masses. A product for the rest of us.
