The headline regarding Jeff Williams was the first that I have seen regarding who can replace TC.
The seeds are being planted. Let’s see what crop it produces in the next 18 months.
I should point out that there are several courses of action that would change my mind about TC.
1) if he could figure out how to lower the price of iPhones by 30%
2) Actually give us better content then Netflix or Amazon for no additional cost to Apple Music Subscribers
3) Move 50% of all Manufacturing out of China
4) Move 25% of all manufacturing to US
5) Stop commenting on world events and only talk about Apple and nothing else.
Obviously none of those would take place so it is a lost cause.

Ok here is how crazy Apple has gotten with trying to maximize profits.
I paid $800 for my iPhone 8 two years ago. They want me to trade in my 8 and give me $270 for it so I can buy a one year old XS for $830.
Most people will do the math and pass.

For any who may be interested, I just did an update, after almost 4 years of radio silence, to my old thread about custodial accounts: A Modest Proposal for AAPL Longs (apologies to J. Swift)Because of the limitation regarding post attachments (maximum of 3/post), I had to break the update into two consecutive posts.

It all depends on what you feel it's worth to have a supercomputer in your pocket. I personally have an old iPhone 5S, so have decided it is doing just fine, and makes me not worry about it. Skiing, MTBing, trail work, car work, yard work, chainsaw work. It will break at some point, but functionality wise it's doing just fine even if I would like a bit better camera and larger screen at times. My wife has a 8+, and uses it at least twice as much as her new MacBook Air. Even when at home. Sounds pretty valuable. OTOH, you could calculate it out with an opportunity cost. If it aided in just one of your seemingly many stock trades, it would pay for itself. Just as not everyone quickly upgrades their car, not all have to upgrade their phone, iPhone or otherwise. But, it is an affordable luxury that is very attainable to most, especially if they already own an iPhone. A positive resell value is just icing on the cake, and a lot more than an equivalent Samsung device would get you. Talk about a valuation differential.

I currently have a X, and have been generally on a two-year cycle. For one thing, I like to somewhat keep up with the current technology and features, but I also feel that is nearly negligible support for Apple in thanks for what they have given me via AAPL. Instead of an iPhone upgrade this year I got a new iPad Air to replace my old one, which I am using to write this.

I realize that Jean-Louis Gassee has a mixed reputation with Apple fans, but Apple: Misunderstanding Design And Jony Ive’s Role does have the advantage of perspective from a former insider. He also makes an important point about the nature of Industrial Design.

The big news for me in The Impact of Facebook’s Libra on Apple Stock Is Being Underestimated is just how crowded the digital financial services frontier is getting. I am torn between feeling that Apple's true customer focus will make it stand out, as against the feeling that ubiquity and ruthlessness will favor Facebook, Amazon, etc. in an industry heavily built on transaction numbers. It seems like already the culling has begun with malls, more of which are either ghostly or closed as the weeks go by. I welcome feedback from those more knowledgable and/or opinionated.

Interesting article. It mentions Facebook’s security issues as an obstacle but not a word about any possible government intervention. Seems some of cryptocurrencies are being used to circumvent government regulation and laws. My knowledge here is limited.
