I believe he will be re elected based on his tariff war with China. That was my point. Crazy market moves will be the norm for the next 4 years. And if economy does hit recession next year I expect Apple to suffer with a p/e of 9-10. Sponge, I’ll bet my XR against your iPhone 4 that Trump doesn’t get re-elected. I think Sponge is rocking a Razr. He pawned his iPhone 4 to buy shares at $221.

The anti-Trump posts are terrible. They are ruining this board ! ! ! I would argue the pro-Trump posts are the problem. lol I would argue Sponge is the problem.

It's so funny when liberals, who claim we should all sacrifice and put what's best for the collective good ahead of personal greed, are the first to squeal like scalded hogs when AAPL goes down a blip, as Trump gets tough with the Chinese, who are cheating and stealing like crazy in trade and intellectual property and conspiring to hurt American companies, workers, consumers, and stockholders in the long run. I mean it isn't even up for debate that the Chinese are up to no good, only that Orange Man and his tweets are bad. I'm pretty damned long AAPL, but I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is and ride out some tough times to get the Chinese to play fair. Unless you're playing short term options - in which case, a fool is soon parted from his money regardless - sit back and watch the Chinese bristle for a change. They have a fuckload more to lose than America does, as even the liberal NY Times pointed out:
China Needs New Places to Sell Its Mountain of ShitI remember every president since Reagan running on cracking down on China. I remember Clinton in 1992 running on not granting China Most Favored Nation status (he did). Apparently a lot of people here conveniently forgot that President Obama slapped a stiff 35% tariff on Chinese tires in 2009. But Apple doesn't sell tires so I guess you left-leaning AAPL stockholders were willing to sacrifice other people's stock valuations for the common good? Twitter isn't the only place I'm witnessing petulance and stompy feet. Okay - so since you would probably characterise me, amongst other AAPL longs, who a critical of the Trump approach, as a 'liberal', (which I take as a compliment, thank you - look up 'liberal;' with a right click... what's not to like about being 'liberal'... Anyways I digress); you can still hold liberal views at the same time as wanting the value of AAPL to go up. Apple holds 'liberal' views and that's part of the reason I am long since 2000. The Chinese 'who are cheating and stealing like crazy in trade and intellectual property', is a fair call. I don't disagree - trade with China is problematic for everyone, not just the US. Part of that problem may be that China is still has 'Developing Nation' status in trade negotiations. It is my understanding that technology transfer is encouraged with that status. Anyways, even the Trump Admin is aware of this and seeking to have that status changed. Probably the reason Trump cops so much flack is than manner in which he characterises things - so initially he will gloat about his acumen and prowess - "trade deals are easy', then when he realises that it's more difficult that he though then he goes into tirade mode, ('petulance and stompy feet'), blaming everyone around but himself, for things not going his way. The problem is, the Chinese are willing to play the long game. China is an one party authoritarian state and the US is a 'representational democracy' with election cycles. Trump is spending a lot of energy and time thinking about his reelection next year at the expense of governance - and every president before has done the same. What is long term to the US is short term to China. So China is likely to accept the 'short term' pain. And the Chinese are very strategic at negotiation, whereas Trump shows his hand at every opportunity. And because of this it will be easier for Xi to play Trump. IPA tonight JD? I'll join you..

Espionage has been going on forever. China will never stop cheating and stealing our ideas. They will win because Xi is smarter than trump, he knows he can wait as long as needed, they know how and are willing to sacrifice. They know they can sell their shit elsewhere if needed. Don’t you think Kim is launching rockets and showing off a new submarine at the direction of Xi ? Everything N Korea does is influenced and directed by China. It’s all being done to make potus look stupid to everyone and as far as I can tell, he’s playing right into it. I really doubt we can run this country like a tv show and expect good things to happen.

The knifes come out with insults and bravado every time we go up fast or go down fast.
You could hear crickets last time we were at 90. We will see how many are left next summer.
I am just thrilled that I have figured out to make money in both directions.
Was in cash but bought puts that expire tomorrow just as the market corrected. Did not know why initially I just bought. Could have made 2000% but decided not get too greedy.
Bought more longer term puts at the close.
Will buy some that expire tomorrow just for kicks
Transferred profits into account for debt reduction and will do so more tomorrow

Gotta say JD, never thought of you as one to take anything at face value. So in that regard POTUS is certainly not conventional and even within Republican circles there are concerns. There must then be elements of POTUS that have given you pause. Sometimes it all looks like a clusterfuck - from my Antipodean perspective. Anyway, not trying to hijack the intraday... This is beer talk...

Sponge...do you *really* still not get it? *All* the AFB AAPL Longs will be here next summer. I am just thrilled that I have figured out to make money in both directions. And yet, from our perspective...and judging only from your posts, it just seems you've learned to *lose* money in both directions.

Moderators: surely this is an entirely useless and irrelevant post. Just as much a single word post "drumpf" is. Move it to the Dungeon. This board is what we make it. Sure, I could ban people or even freeze the board for a few days. But to what end. It's nothing without anyone posting In general we try to stay away from non-appl political posts. But one of several things Sponge said today was spot on, that everyone gets riled up when AAPL moves a lot, namely to the negative. So what's the point of it all? The steam is going to flow, especially on a day where AAPL was up considerably, and then lost it due to outside forces. No matter the forces. But this time, the force is easy to point a finger at, with the choice being which finger. Personally, I was up dealing with shower tile all day, aside from some quick breaks to lug a few rocks up the hill and eat. It sure kept my eyes off of AAPL. I was blissfully ignorant to the move until late in the evening, when a quick check on my iPhone of the huge change, along with seeing other things down considerable, gave me a quick guess that was just as quickly confirmed. But just as predictable was that there would be a lot of political posts here today. Maybe someone wants to manage them? Maybe someone wants to advise people not to post political messages here? But I'm not up for doing either today. This board is what we make it...even if sometimes things get a bit chaotic.

And yet, when it comes to APPL, that's a skill in its own right.

I don't mind the political disagreements one bit though I do wish folks would refrain from lobbing the personal insults. Remember the PC vs Mac wars? Now THOSE were brutal.

Should have bought more puts. But will do so at the open. We are correcting very quickly so as they say. Don’t fight the trend but join it.
Real chance we hit 195 today.
If that happens then my target by OE moves to 180.
The more exciting move will be from Sept to Nov. We are looking at another 25% correction.
SPY puts OI have dropped at 280 so will need to keep an eye on that trend. Market may be more stable compared to Apple or simply recover more quickly.
