I am as annoyed with Apple as I have ever been. We have two music systems, one in the living room and one in the study, to which we broadcast from our iMac via Airport Express modules, or at least used to, as software support for the Airports was removed recently. I managed to keep one of the systems in service by targeting the Apple TV hooked up to it. Now that support has also been removed. If Apple wants to stop offering those devices that is certainly their choice, but I find it hard to believe that the software support for existing units was a real burden. I guess a trip to the Apple Store to see if they can explain the plan going forward is in order.

Sorry about the problems you are having. That way of streaming music is pretty dated at this point.
I'd highly recommend investing in a Sonos system ... the ease of use simply can't be beat. I've got 4 sonos amps that provide music throughout the house in several zones including one for the pool. Controlled by either Alexa or my iPhone.
Best of luck.
Cheers to the longs.

They're updated to current software as are my Airport Base Stations. Maybe try rebooting? As for Sonos, maybe someone can explain what's different from using my standard receivers and Apple TV's. I've never been able to figure it out or why one would trade a receiver for a less functional Sonos amp. Always eager to learn though.

BTW, Apple Card launches today to ALL customers. I will be signing up later today ... this card is going to kick the CC companies in the ass and you are going to see very broad adoption rates. People do not like their CC companies .... most of us have had several different numbers in the past few years due to security being compromised and it seems as though the CC companies could care less ... write it off and charge higher rates.
Apple Card + Apple TV + Apple Watch + 5G upgrade cycle should bode very well for us longs in the next 12-18 months. I'm still worried about Macro and externals that are beyond Apple's control but the future is very bright.
Cheers to the longs ...

Amex member since 1978 and they've always been great to work with and very helpful when in need. I didn't see an apparent methodology for getting my wife a card so we'll see how that goes when I get around to calling them.

I've never been able to figure it out or why one would trade a receiver for a less functional Sonos amp. Always eager to learn though. Allow me to elaborate on the Sonos system .... I wake up ... walk into the kitchen to make coffee and say "Sonos .. play Howard Stern in the family room" ... bam ... it's on. (Sorry .. I like Howard) Later in the day ... I'm listening to whatever I want and with the touch of a button I can play it all over the house on various zones ... controlling the individual volumes if I wish on my iPhone. I can stream music from iTunes , Amazon prime music, my library or Sirus XM .... Now ... I've got built in speakers in several rooms and in our main laundry room I've got a dedicated area for all the media stuff with 3 different sonos players... so you don't even see any hardware while walking around the house. The backyard has a Sonnance landscape system that gets it's media content from a sonos player. If you don't have speakers you can simply buy the sonos satellites which work the same way ... you can just put one in each room you want music in and connect them via wifi .... group together or play individually. I don't think the other way is as easy to use ... which is everything to me. If I have to jump through hoops there is a better than average chance that I won't .... the way my system is set up we listen to music all the time ... and I love it. Apple should have bought Sonos .... sonos is doing home audio the right way making it easy to set up and use. Just my $.02 ... Cheers to the longs.

Still don't get it really. Seems that Airplay 2 does all of the above plus video. "Now ... I've got built in speakers in several rooms and in our main laundry room I've got a dedicated area for all the media stuff with 3 different sonos players..." Are sonos players amps? Receivers? I have displays/tv's taking a feed from Yamaha receivers with 5.1 sound on most. The Apple TV's are hooked into those. Mostly they're dedicated to the screen they're attached to but I do run outdoor speakers through one which requires me to hit a physical switch. I have a bunch of HomePods in various places like bathrooms and garages. I've read the reviews by the tech press and can't figure those out either. I'm stunned by the audio quality coming from such a small package at an affordable price without any trace of distortion. Again, could be my old ears but I'm not sure I trust a generation that doesn't seem to value a flat frequency response. I'll admit to being a bit awestruck by the guys they hired to develop the thing and the time and energy invested. Glad your setup works for you and you're totally right about the pleasures of music everywhere. www.apple.com/airplay/

I am super pleased with the 60 seconds it takes to apply for and receive your Apple Card through the wallet app, with one caveat, it took an extra three minutes, cause you have to call TransUnion to unfreeze your account for 24 hours, when it will revert to being frozen again. I am also pleased to hear Apple is spending FU money on their Apple TV+ offerings, in it’s first toe dip into the on-demand video competition. In conjunction with Apple Arcade, we should have a sharp uptick in the “Services” revenue starting with Q1. Cheers to the long term holders...

. Since I'm in typing mode today I thought I'd comment on the above. I think Project Titan has really morphed into a guidance system project which is the problem to be solved and applies to most of our world and not just the automobile. It's a place that Apple can add the most value if they can crack it. In some regards it's the easy explanation as to why Jony left too. He had to be bored to death re-iterating phones and watches which I'm guessing pushed him into the architecture business. With Apple Park finished and the Apple Stores polished up there was little left in the immediate Apple horizon without the automobile.

I've got built in speakers in several rooms and in our main laundry room I've got a dedicated area for all the media stuff with 3 different sonos players..." Are sonos players amps? Receivers? www.apple.com/airplay/The Sonos players come in two (basically) versions 1) Just a media streamer ... connects via wifi or ethernet to your network and will stream content ... plenty of outputs to interface with your reciever/amplifier 2) Same as above but has a built in power amp that will power 4 speakers max .... I have 2 of the ones with amps which power two different zones. I also have 1 media streamer which feeds a Sonnance amp that powers the backyard system. All 3 can be "grouped" to stream the exact same content or I can have each stream something different. All are always "on" in standby mode and will fire up when you select something to listen to so there is no turning anything on ..... adding streaming services, changing volumes, changing eq, grouping several together and other things are done in the app. There is really no hardware to deal with ... once plugged in and connected you never have to touch the physical units again. There is no "video" component as Sonos specializes in audio only .... they steam audio and that's about it ... but they do it well! Now if you don't don't want to install in-ceiling speakers you can buy the stand alone units which are media players, amps and speakers all built into one. There are several sizes depending on the size of the room you want to fill with sound ... this may be the easiest way to do it as there is no installation process ... plug it in, connect to wifi and you are done. I prefer the built in as it's a cleaner look but I planned all this stuff out when building the house .... after the fact it may or may not be a easy thing to run speaker wires to various locations in the house.

That would prob. restore your functionality.

Today I sort of had the opposite experience with Apple support and will post here in case it helps anyone else.
Damn! sometimes Support just knocks it out the park! I Had called re payment via Cash not being available in the Card as a payment option, when I had previously used it and it had worked flawlessly. I mentioned that I was running the IOS-13 beta and they thought that could be the cause. Was getting ready to D’grade iPad back to 12 when the Fone rang and it was calling back saying try one more thing! Apparently there were some nu Cash Terms and Conditions and what I was trying to do would not work until I had clicked thru - did what he suggested and Boom! everything worked again.
❤️
PS The reason I'am making payments via Cash rather than with Banking info is I feel a little queasy entrusting the Great Vampire Squid with Banking details....
comments welcome...

I just wanted to say say that A) My physical Apple Card arrives today. I’m excited! 2) I used the digital Apple Card the other day for about a $300 purchase. Noticed today that I had $6 and change in my Apple Cash balance. Instant cash reward, that’s awesome! I don’t see the point of ever using my debit card again. I also think the Apple Card will be a game changer. I’m preaching it to everyone I know!
