Welcome to new member “duckpins.” As a native New Englander, I spent some time knocking down those small bowling pins in my youth, so I have to guess that the same applies to him/her.
Please do introduce yourself, and don’t be shy. If you have been observing, then you already know that we try to be friendly here, even if sometimes a bit combative.

Apple announced today that the MacPro would be built in Austin, Texas, saying that the tariff exemptions allowed by the government were a direct factor. This was just on FBN so I did not get the whole story, but it sounds like good news for Texas for sure. I thought they said something about $300B of investment within the US over the next few years as well, not sure about that. Perhaps someone will post the story.

Baby steps are good but still much too late.

appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/23/apple-is-building-the-new-mac-pro-in-texasApple says that the move to produce the Mac Pro in Texas is part of its overall commitment to the US manufacturing economy that has seen it invest over $1 billion in American firms. Most recently, that effort has included investing a further $250 million of its Advanced Manufacturing Fund, in Corning, the manufacturer of glass for iPhones. Alongside specific investments in component manufacturers, Apple says it is also expanding its own presence in a dozen cities across the country, including San Diego, Seattle, and Austin.

The Mac pro (trashcan) was already built in TX. It would be odd if they *didn't* build the new one there. Most of the hard work is the case machining, and given the small volumes of the mac pro, it's fine to build it there and make it look like some sort of bone to throw to drumpf to pretend he had something to do with it (even though they had already planned on doing that before tariffgate).

The stock did not sell off from Friday. Since it is not recovering fully either we may be flat for rest of the week.
Only trade news will move it at this point.
By the way. Did play with the Pro over the weekend.
Wanted to check out camera. Wide angle is good upgrade but in comparing pictures to my 8 in the store, did not noticed significant improvements. My son pointed out the natural color of table was better on my 8.
Yes there will be some that will upgrade because marketing tells them it is much better, but a bigger group will do the math and pass on paying $300 more.

Besides marketing, every reviewer I have read says the camera is their best ever.

Yea but Apple will still sell a couple hundred million iPhones this year give or take a few and the installed base will continue to expand just as it has for the last twelve years. This alone will create many more subscriptions for Apple’s very profitable services juggernaut. Sponge sold too early, oh my what to do now ? I’ll just bash and troll to make myself seem correct.

HI, Thanks for the hello. I am a retired Chiropractor from the Bay Area. I am trying to keep my head above water. I bowled duckpins at the Buhl Club in Sharon, PA when I was a kid. More fun than 10 pins. You can put all kinds of spin on the grapefruit sized balls. Scores are much lower, No duckpins for bowling in CA unfortunately and even the lanes in Sharon are now closed. My first Mac was the MacPlus. I bought a program called Chiromac to run my business, worst written program sold for over 3000. Had to move to DOS to get a decent office program but loved the Mac for all else.
Saw Steve in SF at MacWorld announce he was no longer the iCEO when he took back the company. The guys personal charisma I can only compare to JFK who i saw as a youth at the Elks building in Sharon campaigning in 1960. I think the original iPhone, 4s and the X (OLED screen) are the best phones Apple has produced. Tim Cook's direction I find puzzling at times. Should have sued Google not Samsung. OLED should have been a priority. The pen like the Galaxy Note should also. Steve was wrong about the pen instead of the finger. Observe the caves in France where 25000 years people started drawing with feathers one presumes as soon as they could. It is natural to draw and write with a pen or pencil. Kids play with their fingers and it can be fun. But...Samsung got it right with the Note. However the software...no thanks. But an Apple OS on Note hardware would be a big seller. I am sure either no one thought Steve was wrong on this or they were terrified to say Steve, maybe you should consider a pen like the Palm Pilot?
if Apple wants content Netflix is sitting there.

Besides marketing, every reviewer I have read says the camera is their best ever. I am not disputing that. My real world test did not reach the same conclusion. I do believe that this is the best camera the iPhone has ever had. The issue is how much better and what are consumers willing to pay for that improved feature. My pictures look good enough for me in the last 4 years, that camera was not a central issue of upgrading.. Apple forced me to buy a bigger iPHone with more memory and get an Apple Watch with cell chip when I did not want one. Those little tricks is why their sales are faltering. I have explained those before. I want a better camera (24 megapixels back camera and ultra wide front facing 18 Megapixel) then they offer in a smaller redesigned form factor. So I will have to wait until 2022 or 2023. Very happy with my 8 which may last until then. I can afford the Max Pro but don’t want a bigger uglier iPhone just to get portrait mode.

I have explained those before. Forced?!? Did Apple goons show up at your house and threaten you with bodily harm? Did they threaten the lives of your loved ones? You hold AAPL and buy Apple products, and given your daily rants about how poorly the company is run, I am at a complete loss to understand why. So here’s my challenge for you: show the courage of your convictions, sell your stock, and use the proceeds to replace their terrible, awful, defective products. Hopefully, that will mean that we don’t have to listen to your constant kvetching any more.

I guess a little part of me does get a little kick from some of the reactions. Sad however that disagreeing with bullish sentiment and not being able to counter peak iPhone and flat earnings, are construed as trollish comments.

Hey Sponge,
Nobody can keep up with your constant "updates" .... including you.
If you seriously believe all the stuff you post, I don't understand why you wouldn't just be short.
Regardless .... your posts are just noise at this point.
Cheers to the longs.
