K after studying the charts a little more, I think 228 was the high and we wont see it again for a few years. The damage from today will not be repaired anytime soon so we can forget ATH. The SPY and QQQ are in sever bearish trajectory. Ironically we look similar to last year at this time but a week early. Economic indicators are significantly worse now then last year.. I think talks may produce some results but not a real deal. The market will however initially react negatively without a deal, but more future talks will get us back up. It is fun to watch it all play out. Sponge, do you predict things like the Kentucky Derby too? The horse he predicted to win last year is still running and turning for the home stretch shortly.

If you share my tastes, allow me to share a strategy. As it rises toward $75 per bottle, it is worth it to visit liquor stores in the poorer parts of town. They will usually have a dusty bottle up on the top shelf that no one has considered for years. The price may reflect saner times. I imagine the same will work for Lagavulin . It'd getting nasty out, let's be kind to each other.

jamisons rock too, though i'm partial to the scotches... ever tried to put a couple drops of something smokey like that lagavulin you mention into the jamison? magic! (i'm convinced it woulda solved 'the troubles' long time ago!)
totally onboard with your strategy... trade em well as they say, and now it will include whisk(e)y not just stocks
a local store has been offering laga 8 for less than $50... which is a steal given it's a $60 thing and i like it more than the $75-$80 laga 16... soon to be $100
this is a lighter subject we can joke about in the otherwise contentious and bitter world... so... CHEERS to the longs! (you know what i mean)

Other countries do it also because they are usually smaller and not as rich as the US. China economy is growing yes, but the US is still much stronger and richer. And yeah, the markets and WS are totally cool with Nancy trying to effect a coup on the president. Come on JD, you’re smarter than this.

Anybody here remember Apple or AAPL? And no, the sponge-onomics do not count. I know it was a dispiriting day on that front, but may I suggest that someone start DJT.proboards.com, if it doesn’t already exist ?

Hey I talk mostly about aapl and TC.
Speaking of aapl I should point out that I will be buying short term puts and calls between Oct 11 and 30. My purchase of puts for Dec will come on the 30th or 29th.
Right now my target for ER is around 210. If we can get to 215 it would be even better. I see 170 in Dec with quick rebound back to 200 by January earnings. The drop to 170 will be caused by lack of a trade deal and weak guidance. I will try to get more info on the trade talks next week from my own sources. A friend claims DT wants a deal but China does not. The Chinese claim DT changed the deal at the last minute, but it may be deflection to place blame on him instead of their opposition to one.
I find it interesting but no surprising that everyone focuses on past posts about my targets and charting, but fail to counter my FA arguments and that iPhone sales are going drop.
And I will say it until I am proven correct that all economic indicators don’t support a booming economy. So that will impact Apple overseas and before you blame DT or economy on falling sales, remember sales were dropping since 2015.

I forgot to mention that the inverted hammer was so large yesterday that it signaled a major sell off today. Did not have the guts to buy puts so soon after cashing out of calls.

My purchase of puts for Dec will come on the 30th or 29th.You've previously gone from puts to calls within days of one another and yet you're projecting what your action for puts will be 4 weeks from today? Truly impressive market forcasting. Right now my target for ER is around 210. If we can get to 215 it would be even better. I see 170 in Dec with quick rebound back to 200 by January earnings. OK, so if "... all economic indicators don’t support a booming economy...", that phrase indicates that some indicators *do* support a booming economy. Which indicators are those? Asking for a friend.

Lucky I know it is hard to keep up. There are no indicators that will support economic expansion thereby supporting record and growing iPhones sales.
There are dozens of data points from Europe, China, and here in the US (ie today) that shows serious slowdowns happening. 60% of Apple sales are from outside of US
If we hit 214 and recover tomorrow I will buy calls. RSI will guide me.

See the difference? I’m trying to help.

RSI will guide me. I wonder about the wisdom of using RSI when looking at the future. Since RSI is a measure of momentum over a relatively small time interval, there is nothing inherent in the number that allows it to be extrapolated forward. Past behavior doesn't yada, yada, yada. I would go so far as to claim that basing decisions on RSI is not FA, but the essence of TA, since its use is based on the assumption that the macro behavior of the market is predictable based on the psychology of the herd. On the other hand, the Baltic Dry Index IS an established leading indicator of the market. Since shipping contracts must be established in advance, it summarizes the total anticipated production estimates for everything that requires ships to get to market. While it has shown a slight decline since September(2500 to 2300), it has more than doubled since June. (1031 to 2300). Of course even this index is vulnerable to black swans. I am confident that a sophisticated analyst like yourself is using it, but I would enjoy hearing it included in your explanations of FA. Without it, it feels like you are playing the momentum of the market. I don't see how you can beat the algos in that game. Best of Luck to the Longs, and to Sponge!! .

hey mr resident patriot! (since you always wax poetic how we should endure market losses to be patriots of the country)
how about YOU be a patriot for once and ...support the rule of law ...support our democratic institutions ...support the separation of powers enshrined in the constitution ...support america's long-term economic prosperity...
...instead of rallying for a wanna-be dictator and calling a legal process against him by the legislative branch a 'coup'!
not helpful either is you calling everyone who doesn't agree with you 'libs'... i'm a moderate john mccain kind of guy... but i can see trump destroying this country
Walter I think you should edit your post today after you sober up.
