happy ATH everyone! The sting of AAPL’s collapse in 2012 and late 2018 is still fresh that I’m now 75% cash. Just a short message of caution here: It’s never wrong to take a profit guys - similar to Warren Buffet’s “Sell when others are greedy and buy when others are fearful.” Currently, I have more invested in shares than options and that fact alone is a great sleeping aid. AAPL can go higher from here, as I think FQ4 and FQ1 2020 will be solid - we’ll find out soon enough how much of this is already priced in. Will Apple go straight up from here? We all know the answer to THAT! But, yeah, it could IF Wall Street wasn’t full of AAPL trolls masquerading as analysts (I’m looking at you Rod Hall, Jhun Zhang, and Pierre Ferragu). With a straight face, CNBC just introduced Toni Sacconaghi as Apple’s No. 1 analyst, so nothing has really changed inside the casino. Cheers to the longs and ATH in AAPL. mercel... you've been successful at swing trading lately (i've also been lucky/successful with aapl of late)... but i didn't realize you're that conservative with cash! you're only 25% invested across the board? are you expecting financial armageddon this q ala 2008? ...OR... ...do you mean your AAPL allocation is 25% (shares & options) and 75% cash? finally, what's your plan for the next few weeks/months? BTFD if it swoons, presumably... but what if it shoots up to $250... do you go to 90% cash? i've been more like 90% invested in my AAPL allocation, 10% for dips and swing trades... starting to feel the need to light up, as i agree with you, never a straight path... the best trade i've done so far is go in heavy in mid-jan in the 150s (the 'sponge trade' since he was saying 120 by june and served as perfect contrarian indicator)... having cash on hand was crucial

Yeah, right now I'm fully 75% cash, the other 25% in AAPL but that could flip on Apple dips (i.e. to 75% owning shares). I traded a ton of AAPL last year, and from that I'm about 25% higher than a year ago when AAPL was at $233. As they say: "buy the dips and sell the rips." I'm not swinging for the fences with options anymore - remember, Pete Rose made a career out of hitting singles.
I'm trending toward a more conservative strategy as the deficit spending and dysfunction in D.C. will at some point be felt in the stock market. Also, what is the justification here for the next leg up in the stock market? As much as anything else, I have my version of financial independence and so if AAPL goes higher I won't have to chase it. I'll pay off a mortgage on a small rental with some of the cash.
No one has a reliable crystal ball, but the near term outlook for AAPL is solid. It's everything else that concerns me.

mercel... thanks for your reply! on the same wavelength, i dig it...
i'm also (coincidentally) roughly 25% up from last years' ath... lucky/bold with trading AAPL in a separate (smaller) retirement account, i'm actually more like 100% up as i BTFD'd aapl calls in january (have since cashed out to index funds, so that gain is 'in the bag' so to speak)... always feels good to double $$$ in a flat market!
i agree general conditions call for some caution... tbh i was hoping for some crazy last gasp of the bull market into euphoria, but trade wars / fed / brexit / whatever else have really damped this stage
anyway, thanks for pitching in... and you're right apple is solid - so... cheers to the longs!

Markets are probably assuming that you know who has a need of being liked right now, and a will do do something that generates the ability to scream "I told you so", but the system is intrinsically unstable, so let's be careful... Ah, for the halcyon days of President Barack "Narcissus" Obama, who set records for the word "I" in his speeches and always put himself in every single tweeted photo at funerals and holidays and celebrations. I have to tell you, JD, that your appropriation of Steve Jobs’ image for your avatar has always annoyed me. Was it intended to lend a patina of verisimilitude to your rantings? I can tell you that it never worked for me.

I’m long. Adding shares and been long since April 05. I have some AT&T for the divvy but 99% . I have nothing to say trading wise. I come here looking for talk and you guys discussing your trading and keep my mouth shut. Well not too much trading, never cared for it so I dont care about short term movements caused by whatever moves our beloved stock up or down. But I do care about politics. Been a political junkie since 1st grade. Yes first grade standing in line at the elementary school first day asking fellow 1st graders...Nixon or Kennedy? I can’t help it but try not to start irrelevant ranting on the daily thread. Sorry. Ps...what I post in the dungeon is not BS. It’s backed by investigative reporting forming an opinion by me or others from many legitimate sources.

Very happy to see Apple's not holding back when it comes to advertising the iPhone 11 Pro. This ad is on the "Shark Tank" arena in San Jose, California. It's a stone's throw away from San Jose Diridon station which is the central passenger rail depot, and which is also served by bus services: California Shuttle Bus, Amtrak Thruway Bus, Monterey-Salinas Transit, Santa Cruz Metro (Highway 17 Express), local VTA and employer shuttles and buses. Oh, and whenever there's a televised Shark's hockey game, that exterior shot is seen by a *very* large number of eyeballs. All in all, great ad placement.

If there was something you thought that was inaccurate about my post about Dear Leader Obama, I’m all ears. Anyway, enjoying my chicken-hearted riches. 🤷🏻♂️ 🐓 ❤️💵

So AAPL news that impacts trading is off limits in the daily thread? Okaaaay.

Aaaannnnd, the futures are solid green. A little surprised given reports that Trump is spinning the China trade progress. Thankfully, I didn't sell my LEAPs.

I think you are wonderful Chinacat !
I have always liked JD's avatar. Just a reminder of Steve Jobs, and his thinking.
