Throwing more money at a problem, or a solution, isn't always the best way. OTOH, if there were some perk that Apple could give Tim, like the jet to Steve, then I could see that. For a few years in my mind one of the top risks was keeping Steve happy, since he had plenty of money and I was worried Pixar might be tempting to become more than a day a week hobby. But with another decade of thought and life experiences under my belt, it seems like as long as you don't get burned out or have a personal or family medical issue, it's tempting to ride the wave. Buffet does it, while he could walk away at any time. But really that's just the finance side, whereas Steve, and now Tim, can shape and change the world, to some extent. But that extent is pretty huge, considering they can meet with world leaders and change 3rd party work conditions, world wide. Elon is doing likewise. Mankind will one day be able to land on Mars. But with him pushing it along, that might happen a decade or even 50 years earlier than it would otherwise. Same with other things, like widespread (10%?) adoption of electric cars. And possibly with other hobbies too, like solar, tunneling, and even brain related add-ons or manipulation. Does getting more money from it motivate him? Or is he trying to make a dent in the universe? What gift do you give to the person who has everything, or can buy anything? Maybe Apple can find something, but it's doubtful that it's just more money. Tim can use the money when he runs for presidency in 2008 :-) At first I thought you made a typo. I'm not sure you can take money back with you in a time machine. And even if you could, running for presidency and potentially getting it would squash him being able to run Apple, thus likely dropping the value of the underlying currency. If we learned nothing from the Back to the Future franchise, it was that the easiest way to have a bundle in the future is to send a sports book back in time to your past self. OTOH, if limited to one play, I'd send myself with certainty one of the 10x '97 stock picks, funding my forthcoming initial AAPL purchase with an extra 0. Ahhh well, the grass is always greener in the figment of imagination. But I think AAPL and Apple is greener with Tim there than with him as the President.

Today is a very special milestone for me. 15 years ago in the spring of 2005 I bought my first 100 shares split adjusted around $5.27. Congratulations! It takes a certain mindset to hold on for 15 years, though the ups and downs. While I don't feel that one investment style is right or wrong, holding long term through the years has worked out well for those of us who have done it with a portion or all of our shares.

I think Tim just really loves his job. As an operations guy, what matters most is the process and the people that drive it. For example, my belief is that this is the key to his handling of the President. Regardless of his own feelings about Trump, he has determined what he feels is the best approach to getting him to understand what will enable Apple be successful and he is happy to let him let him feel that he had a hand in any subsequent success. I would also be surprised if a financial bonus, while surely appreciated, is any kind of motivation at this point. BWDIK

J.D., Congrats on your TESLA buy. Up 46.71 today!!!! Ironic that $TSLA might buy that Range Rover Velar I’ve been wanting (not AAPL-related car talk!). 😝

Tho certainly to a lesser degree, I can understand this mindset. As long as you’ve got enough money to be happy with your physical worldly needs, for some people you’re no longer working hard for the money, but rather for achieving significant things in your life - different people have different motives of course. For me personally, the AAPL returns have stopped being relatable to my lifestyle and needs - but as someone who owns a few businesses that are successful in their own right, the AAPL returns are the fuel to the fire of our ambitions, including the desire to do good in the world. It’s incredibly liberating, and I’m incredibly grateful to this company. Aspirational

I sold a bunch for minor earthly pleasures but Today my accounts reached 1 Million. 1 Million is not like it used to be and not a lot compared to many here on the forum but it is what it is. So thankful for the people at Apple and everyone here on the board who tempered my frustration from all the massive dips. 🖖 Macster, who wrote this, had a couple duplicate accounts and asked us to delete this account.....hence the "deleted member" note by his post. Nothing to see here. I mean, aside from gaining greatly from a long holding time, through the various ups and downs of the past 15 years.

Now you can start working on that second million. Unfortunately, few people understand the possibilities when you invest in the right company. I’ve told people many times that I spent most of my life working, but it wasn’t until I found myself unemployed that I learned how to make money.

What gift do you give to the person who has everything, I don't know...penicillin? Bud, you laugh at this but, in the early 60’s, penicillin saved my life, literally. Not once, but twice. Like many here, i am a very long term investor of aapl, and it is inspiring to see the number of folks that have 7 plus digits in gains based on our belief in aapl and Apple. I will agree with the sentiment that my friend Steve coming back into the fold in 1997 was a catalyst, and that when he departed us, his wisdom of picking Tim Cook as his successor was spot on. In my mind, both earned what they received, many times over. Let us hope TC sticks around for a bit. Cheers to those who have been persevering in their beliefs...

In the past we had a few people who were worried about the non-transparency of how a situation was handled. So I just tried to spell it out a bit, so when someone stumbled out of his RV he didn't think things were being manipulated here. Carry on!

HE'S ALIVE! 15 of us "liked" a post, and then suddenly it lists "Deleted Member" for the user. Given the past year of what got people worried, I thought that might raise some eyebrows. aaplfinance.proboards.com/post/108560/threadMaybe we're all just enjoying the ride of this magical euphoric period. A couple of inches of fresh snow to go get a few laps in once I drop off the kids. That whole euphoric feeling, even on a regrouping day.
