No worries....we've gone through a couple lightning cables too, but maybe only 2 over 8 years. Hey, that's a lot better than our MagSafe charger for a MacBook. I think that was averaging close to 1 a year, and it was a lot more pricey. Maybe someone is pulling it wrong? Or maybe it, like everything, has some sort of lifespan, I really enjoy using my wireless charging pad now. I only plug my iPhone into my computer sometimes to get pictures off of it. I'm sure I could do that wirelessly too if I wanted.

I'm more concerned about the durability of ports; because when those fail, you're really screwed. I've never had a lightning port fail, but I've had countless USB ports do so.

I'm sure I could do that wirelessly too if I wanted. FWIW, a few minutes after making this post yesterday, I had to unplug my wife's iPhone 8+, that has a thick case on it after the first screen broke. Because of the case's thickness, and the case's port cover that folds outward, you basically have to grab the cable by the cable portion instead of the cable's end. I wonder if this really is a problem more of us hit if we are using a case. And yes, we may be pulling it wrong....even if it's the only way it can work. OTOH, if the plastic portion of the cable was just a little longer, maybe it wouldn't be an issue. Anyways, off to install a tub. Soldering plumbing until 1am isn't fun, but at least all 12-16 joints were good and didn't leak when turning on the water. That wouldn't have been good.

For any that are interested, I just made two consecutive posts to this thread: Sometimes it helps to have all your eggs in one basketThe first comment dealt with the effect the amazing momentum in the AAPL share price over the last year has affected my 2020 RMD(Required Minimum Distribution). Yes, I agree, the comment sounds like I'm whining but I'm really just explaining...my shock. My remaining grey cells failed to warn me a large RMD increase was coming. The second post is just an expansion of a table I posted recently showing percentage increases over the last 20 years for investments made in AAPL stock at the beginning of each of the 20 years. I'm sorry the print in the table is so small but it's quite a large table and I had to shrink it considerably to meet the 1M size limit for attachments. I plugged in $10,000 as the investment for each year to show the percentage increases over the 20-year time frame since I believe dollars are usually much more relatable than percentages when examining yearly increases.
