I'm wondering if the people who do such things have compared iPhone availability & shipping times to other periods to see if the supply chain really is constipated with this corona virus thing, or if Apple is pooping out phones regularly? Apple has now returned $430bn to shareholders, (and still has $99bn net cash). If you count buybacks as returning cash to shareholders (doesn't pay my water, power, or ammo bills): LinkGoogle has paid $80bn to Android developers. Apple has paid $155bn, for iOS, on less than half of the installed base. A metaphor for the value of the iPhone user vs Android users (poor, and a small group of nerds who think everything should be free).

DED says WHY APPLE’S SUPPLY CHAIN IS PREPARED FOR THE CORONAVIRUS... ...which describes the benefit of having a CEO who was the former operations chief.

It did bring out some great information about Apple’s supply chain and Apple’s ability to work around temporary interruptions and hopefully this interruption is just temporary. Time will tell.

According to FNN, Forbes Network of Nerds: “The Real Driver Of Tesla’s $100 Billion Valuation Is The Dearth Of Innovation In The Auto Industry”
Gosh, if only there was a company good at innovation available to pay attention to this...

Um, the FTC is an an independent federal agency, not under the direction of the president. The DOJ is the scary agency that enforces antitrust, because they can launch criminal investigations. But I think the FTC and other non-executive agencies should be unconstitutional (which branch of government are they part of??). WRT DED's article, good takes as always, but more of a general defense of Apple's supply chain than any empirical evidence. Yes, I attack supply chain checks as dumb in general to extrapolate sales; but, I do think if shipping times for iPhones on the online Apple Store suddenly increased dramatically, that might tell us something. Remember I'm the guy who called coronavirus overblown; I just like to back up my opinions with facts. I do want to say that I generally only care about profits and screw everyone else, as some here would like to portray the average Republican. But I have to say, I feel very sorry for the Chinese people right now; not just the sick ones, who are relatively few, but all the thousands if not millions of non-sick who are probably being rounded up and thrown into hermetically-sealed pens or worse right now due to China's "Draconian" measures, as one observer called them. There's a reason the Chinese government isn't letting WHO or the US in right now. One suspects that they are treating this as one would a Walking Dead situation (headshots and burn the bodies). Some videos that have leaked out are pretty scary. We're talking video game dystopian stuff. I mean, if they'd throw a millions Muslims into camps (and get away with it, apparently, based on the lack of Western outrage about it), imagine what they'd do to stop a viral threat that could make Xi look feckless. I've seen videos of them gassing city blocks and there are reportedly like a million or so people "missing." WTF did they go? Sad!

Every auto manufacturer makes an EV. There just isn't a profitable (non-subsidized) market for them yet. If and when there is, the big auto companies will likely come in and crush Tesla because Musk is a total amateur playing around with shareholder wealth. Just so we're clear, there isn't enough lithium or boron on earth for every American to own an EV, let alone every person on earth (hence Musk's space ambitions). And mining those elements is dirty AF. I've owned rare earth miners (i.e., Lynas, the only non-Chinese rare earth miner) for years and it's stock has just tanked because it's so hard for them to get approval to dig ( NIMBY!). Would you want a lithium mine in your state? Nah, let China do all the digging and we'll pretend they care about clean disposal of toxic waste.

One thing we’ve learned over the last three years is there is no agency independent of the potus. He’s got his hands deep into everything, including the justice department, DOD, FTC, etc. There is no autonomy. Not good for Apple or anyone else imo.

Yep, very opportunistic...........everybody loves people who can cheat and get away with it while taking credit for the work of others. It’s a bold new world 🌎 Wait, you just told us that Trump is a Machiavellian evil genius who has his hands in everything, pulling all the levers. Or is he a clueless guy who doesn't know what's going on and he's taking credit for what others are doing? If you hate every single thing that someone does no matter what, you might have Trump Derangement Syndrome. God forbid that any of the 2020 Democrat candidates were cheering on American corporations. Doubt you'll see Bernie doing that!

Yes JD, you’re correct, it’s the worst of both worlds. He’s the clueless guy with his hands in everything. I don’t have strong emotions about him because I know he’ll be voted out of office in November and I will make a lot of money betting on it.
