From yesterday’s PED column on the new SE: “What is missing? If you look at the tech specs for the higher end iPhones you’ll find a few things missing here—although most are camera related. There is no ultrawide or telephoto cameras, no night mode for taking better photos in the dark, no facial recognition. Oh, and yeah, no headphone port.” I find that last one very surprising; I almost never use them, but certainly see them often in public.

I still use a 7+ and was the included headphones with lightening port; it works well enough. I personally, at the gym, see more AirPods than anything.

I sometimes think that journalists and pseudo-journalists which the world is full of now, feel that they have to spit out a certain amount of content. So they trot out irrelevancy like the headphone jack. The world has since move on, and no one cares anymore. I am so glad to be done with the jangled mess of wired headphones. Apple decided to push the world towards wireless, which is an infinitely better user experience, and they were right. They took their normal share of abuse from mainly irrelevant "journalists", in their endless pursuit of page hits, but that is just the way that it is now.

I personally, at the gym, see more AirPods than anything. As I said, I never used them, so I guess I never noticed when the port went away. Thanks for correcting my oversight.

They took their normal share of abuse from mainly irrelevant "journalists", in their endless pursuit of page hits, but that is just the way that it is now. There's still times where it would be handy to have one. For long car trips, our car has an aux in port, but not bluetooth. Now that we both have relatively recent iPhones, neither has an audio port. We do have the adapter that came with the iPhone 8+ somewhere, but it's one more thing we have to remember when getting out the door at xmas, and with only one we can't just leave it in the car. The same thing was true traveling overseas. We had noise canceling headphones for the plane ride, all with audio connections, but only some with bluetooth. I understand it, both to save a little bit of money and space, though also to make it more waterproof. But it's not just something that should be completely negated. At the same time, it's not a new change. It's just how it is. Move on, even if it occasionally isn't as easy as it was in the past.

My iPhone doesn't recognize my face with my coronavirus mask on. Oh, the inconvenience! LOL! Welcome to my world. It's the same thing for ski googles, with or without a mask. It seems like there should be a "lower security" mode, allowing some number of wakes with a less secure method of only looking at your eyes, spacing, etc. It could still require a passcode when trying to change an important setting, or on restart. Something with 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 security would be fine for this low security mode. We had to go to the bank yesterday to get a medallion seal and notary. It was quiet as you had to have an appointment, but no workers had masks or gloves, though the teller had a plexiglass protector. At least half of the customers wore face coverings (we were there for an hour and a half....fun times). Apparently the bank computers everywhere were overloaded, with all of the stimulus credits hitting account yesterday. She said they kept track of some of the first small business loan applicants, and ones applying Friday or Saturday morning were getting funded on Monday and Tuesday. The kids are most of the way through the 4th week of remote schooling, after a quiet week of Spring Break. It's tough having them on the computers so many hours a day, but at the same time they want to text/call/video/play video games with their friends once all their schoolwork is done. 1st world problems, but with spring-like conditions they are getting outside, and they even set up a jumbo tent and slept outside last night.

Nice close. Don't look now, but AAPL is up another $5.3 in after-hours (to $292), and SPY is up 2.6% in AH. Must be some positive news somewhere. The roller coaster continues. (EDIT: From CNN, White House gives guidelines on reopening economy. In waves, starting May 1st, but it depends on how things go and governors have the call on their states. www.cnn.com/2020/04/16/politics/donald-trump-reopening-guidelines-coronavirus/index.html Public news conference in 1.5 hrs, 6pm ET))

wow is right - my whole portfolio is going crazy in the AH - I think it's combo of the Gilead news, and the W.H. taking steps toward a re-open. Congrats Longs and buyers of the dip.

I was a dirty seller in the dip.... but x/rates were irresistible.... $295 is like the start of the year... what a ride...
