Apple approved the Hey app after they added the free tier option just like Apple suggested. Basecamp knew what they were doing and got a lot of free publicity from this “uproar”.

Thanks AAPL
Merely for "big round number" reasons, I hope you can advance to 375 in short order, where a continued clip of 20% annualized would hit that big $500 number in January of 2022.

Sleep Tracking was discussed last week. Coming in ios14. Plus an intriguing language translation capability.

Wow! I did not think they would announce the chip changeover this WWDC.

Will be interesting to see how they price new macs. Either they can dramatically increase the gross margins which is great for the stock, or they can dramatically lower the prices of the Mac making it more accessible and also great for the stock and the consumer.
I love increasing the gross margin but I think they have a historic opportunity to increase market share if they lower the prices.
I have not researched enough to know how much they would save per unity by cutting Intel loose. Anyone know off of the top of their heads?

The translate app is interesting, especially that it can be offline: finance.yahoo.com/news/apples-translate-app-works-offline-173605428.htmlFWIW, there are some great translate apps out there. In europe we used one from Google I believe. The key for us was live translation of written text, so you'd point it at a menu in Salzburg Austria, and it would show in English! You did need to have a network, so it worked on our phone that had cell service, and on mine when we had wifi. Anyways, pretty cool stuff out there. Nice that Apple is getting into it, though it could be even better.

Only a WAG, but I don't think this is going to be a market share or price point reduction play. Maybe a little bit on price, but I doubt it will be dramatic, at least at the beginning. Maybe once there are a few models like with the iPad. If they can deliver on better performance, longer battery life, and weight/thickness reduction that stands well apart from the market, then I don't think there will be much pressure to cut price.

I have not researched enough to know how much they would save per unity by cutting Intel loose. Anyone know off of the top of their heads? As others mentioned before, it’s not so much the cost savings as it makes the brand differentiation easier and it allows them their own release schedule, independent of Intel’s releases. As I see it, Intel is fighting competitors by focusing on the server side, and that is causing desktop/laptop chips (with their different power and efficiency characteristics) to suffer, much in the way that the AIM partnership kept disappointing as IBM swung server side and Motorola wouldn’t push the architecture forward. Edit: wooohooooo!

I'm even more interested in whether they choose to increase battery life (the new chipsets are clearly MUCH more efficient than the Intel ones) or choose to install a smaller battery. Or more likely a combination of the two. I can just see a Macbook air/pro/? with a 16hr battery life for those road warriors that work all day into the evening while not wanting to scrounge around for an outlet everywhere they stop.

I let my dev membership lapse in March and now I can’t make it into the enrollment page. I guess I won’t be able to pick up one of the dev minis anytime soon.

How much do they want for one of those minis?

How much do they want for one of those minis? Per Gruber, it is a $500 rental and must be returned at the end of the program. I suspect end must mean when there is no longer any need for a dev platform like this. EDIT - direct from Apple.
