It’s 8:59 and the pre-market has moved up to +$7.77. It’s looking like the party will continue.

Something is wrong. Were we not supposed to be at $140, per one of our dearly departed prognosticators? $440.00 can’t be right. Or did he know the split was coming and didn’t tell us? Life is a mystery.

Well its, dam the torpedoes and full speed ahead! I'm willing to guess that $450 could be the markets target.

I hear of the same thing in housing, while finding the overall US average prices rarely ever dip when looking at the 50 year chart. I know I thought prices would dive in the SF Bay Area in 2001-2003, when there were lots of layoffs, lots of people moving, and a u-haul was 7 times more expensive to take from the bay area to phoenix, than the other direction. Instead, prices just stayed flat-ish for a while. On options strikes, I'm not too worried about the math on a 4 to 1 split. That just exercises the brain a little more. But that 7 to 1 split, now that was freaking annoying! And with expiration dates more than 2 years out, it sticks around for a long time.

Only up about 10 points now and feeling disappointed. It's funny how that works. Financial psychology would be an interesting field. If a local school had coursework, I might even be tempted to go back and get a hobby degree, even if it would pay off a lot more than most hobbies. I could double it up with viticulture, while also getting the tractor driving course I never took. "Oh, the places I could go"

Damn! It's back up over $438 and I didn't buy the dip! Will this nightmare never end?

I'm no technician (I prefer real science like phrenology), but a little retracement is healthy. It's like a prairie dog or meerkat that pops its head up and looks around. And then it dips back into the hole to plan a big move with the family. Gotta make sure things are safe first. Can't just run around recklessly.

AAPL ALL TIME HIGH!$446.55All Time Highest TODAY intraday 76,237,006
shares traded today Though it didn't stay at the early high, setting a new high and also setting a new highest close, all while gaining more than 10 points, is big!!! It was good to see the early moving movement. I was wondering if the weekend was going to zap the momentum AAPL had on Friday. It's rarely ever a straight line, and I'm sure there will be more ups and downs. But $450 and beyond is a whole lot easier once it's been so close, while also raising up the baseline. Throw in a couple days the whole market goes up, for whatever reason, and the tide should move AAPL too.

That's weird Our tiny local newspaper, on their podcast from this morning, claimed that the iPhone 12 will be released Oct 2nd. www.tahoedailytribune.com/podcasts/I don't see anything on Appleinsider, but Gordon Kelley over at Forbes guesses at it based on the "few weeks late" comment and Apple trying to surprise on the early side. I won't bother posting the link. I guess everyone is still interested in these things, which is a good thing. With roughly 2 months to go, that's quite a while for the excitement to slowly grow. It will be interesting to see how it goes, but I know of at least a couple friends already looking forward to buying the new iPhones and expected watches.

Could be 5G fever, although I suspect many folks may be disappointed by telco deployment, particularly for mmWave.

Could be 5G fever, although I suspect many folks may be disappointed by telco deployment, particularly for mmWave. Could be, but for replacing my wife's 8+ (it's doing ok, but battery life is fading, both screen replacements I've done have different coloring, and she sees that the 11 has such a better camera, plus with kids we will have a continued use for the iPhone) we don't much care about 5g. Same with one of the friends. Incremental improvements are just fine, especially when there are a few of them. And yet again, I'll say how amazing my iPhone 11 battery life is. But, on a normal day I'm using mine very little. Whereas Apple's tracking for last week says I have my computer on for 8.5 hours and my iPhone for 30 minutes, my wife has a similar 9ish hours, but 8.5 of that on the iPhone. There is a reason her battery gets depleted. I don't have a guess at a percent of people that upgrade over just standard new releases, incremental upgrades, and their personal upgrade cycle, vs how many are swayed by one specific new thing.

I used to upgrade every other year (I was on the “S” cycle), like clockwork, but now I still have an iPhone X. I expect that the advent of 5G in the Fall will break that cycle. On the other hand, our iMac has had something drastically wrong with it since the Spring, and all of the local Apple stores have been closed until recently. I need to get it in now that the Cambridge store has re-opened. I really don’t want to spend the money for a new one until the Apple Silicon Macs are available.

The current 27" iMacs are really nice, though when all is quite I hear a little hum from mine that is glitching with things on the screen. I think there is something with the screen display board, and should see about it at some point. But from Costco and with their CC, that gives me a 4 year warranty instead of the standard 1 year from Apple. Still, I'l see Apple within a year, or at least that's the plan. I can see waiting for Apple Silicon. OTOH, if you need it now... And look at that, right while I'm posting, aaplcrazie is posting in the current daily thread of the 27" iMac upgrade today!!!
