Well time for full disclosure I guess: I'm a Raven season ticket holder. About to go to a bar probably full of Patriot fans. Hope to win but prepared to loose. Brady is tough to beat at home. ALTHOUGH Joe Flacco our Quarter Back (the weakest link in the team IMHO) has no excuses left for failure since the departure of our controversial offense coordinator. Basically he does not want to be remembered as the guy that denied the legendary Ray Lewis his chance to go to the Superbowl before he retires (this year).

My Seahawks should have been in that game, but it was a solid performance. Hard to root for the 49ers but NFC West acquitted itself well....

Why are you surrounded by Patriots fans? Wait - wait - don't tell me "fas" stands for Faculty of Arts and Sciences? Does it?

Aggravating ending. 49ers played like champions, Atlanta is not ready. A couple of defensive players will help.

No I am actually in No Va which is either Redskins, Steelers or Patriots, go figure! FAS are initials and 550 is the rear wheel horsepower of something I never thought I would own. Name not too imaginative but easy for me to remember and have had it for a while.

Travis just tweeted this: perspective.. ------ aapl_pain: Let's say $goog reports $10.5 EPS. That means they grew 20% in 2 years. If $aapl reported $10.5 means they grew EPS 63% in 2 yrs.

I'm rooting for the Pats....my son in law will have heart failure if they don't win. HOWEVER - if they start showing Giselle sipping wine on the sidelines or complaining how her husband can't throw AND catch the ball...that will be it ... I'll root for the Ravens!

... The bright side isn't hard to find IMHO: Continuous bullish divergences, an island bottom in play, a rejection below 500, AAPL repeatedly holding the 500-ish zone as support ever since the bear raid that reached its worst point on December 14, a semi-hammer on the weekly. The only recent H&S the bears can claim credit for was, if it actually WAS a H&S, the one that WSJ precipitated. The SMA-100 weekly is still holding, the 38.2% macro retrace (70ish-700ish) is still holding, the mutant macro force-fit H&S hasn't triggered ... If your marginal tax rate is not 39.6%, it soon will be.

Everyone can twist numbers to fit an outcome. The only thing that matters is the YOY. Apple reports over $13.87 and we should be good. Below and who knows.

I'm not gonna judge the numbers 'til I see them and hear the explanations.
But I would prefer $14.25 at minimum.

Does anyone think that the analysts will just stick to earnings or will there be some questions on the cash horde or what their thoughts are for less expensive phones for emerging markets or how close they are to anything with China Mobil and do they expect it this year? Will anyone press on these questions? I feel like everyone tends to be polite and walk on eggshells. Anyone think some of these people will press?

... I believe this is the way now for this beloved stock, it is "broken" intentionally, and will forever be the playtoy of the loons, and goons of the punditry, and flimflam artists. Confirmed is Tan . Old guards are back. Is this a sign of some BIG news coming?

These analysts are mostly vets of Apple calls. There will be some stupid questions. Cash hoard is not one of them. China Mobile is. Cheaper iPhone yes, _prepaid_ may get a half-answer.
Will an analyst ask about investor confidence, something along the lines of SCM chatter? And/or asking about buybacks/stock splits? I hope someone does.

They are extremely confident people, they have to be. And BTW, any thought I have ever had about Giselle, Tom was never around. ;D I will never root for the Ravens. Ray Lewis was part of a murder in Atlanta several years ago. He is a thug.

Watched Travis's video. The #1 that stood out in my mind was him mentioning options inventors not anticipating a stock this big having 1 million calls open in a given expiration. Got me thinking that we wouldn't be so reliant on the options market if the stock price per share wasn't so large. I feel that options are a lot more tempting in apple because it seems a lot more affordable than owning shares. I may be biased because I know I 100% am guilty of this, but I'd guess that I'm not the only one who trades aapl options instead of stock, because of the share price.
I don't know if I have the tools to calculate it or the time right now, but I bet 1 million calls would average about 10% of the market cap of aapl. I wonder how this compares to other equities on jan expiration.

I've traded AAPL options well south of $100 (not _well_, but what's new). Yup, option volumes and OI have skyrocketed over the years thanks to a massive influx of people trading AAPL options as a "proxy" for trading AAPL common (nottt exactly, guys) since it's been well _north_ of $100, no question.
Oh, say hi to the option writers everybody! Hopefully one day, you'll figure it out.

I'm not very technically astute, but even to a novice like myself it's clear a stock split would certainly reduce the volatility of aapl.

... The point I was trying to make was that short interest is and has been low ... Historically, short interest for AAPL is low. Low short interest is not good during decline because there are no short covering to cushion the decline, so decline tends to be sharp. This is well documented. Frankly, I wish short interest would be higher and Apple management holds AAPL shares like Al Gore rather than selling them like compensation every time the EOs/RSUs become vested.

ROFLMAO!!!!! I was wondering why you were toasting all over the place!!! I added a new "cheers" smiley: I must've botched something somewhere because that new guy seems to have evicted the eye-roll smiley. Okay, no eye-rolling until I figure it out... Meanwhile: Is it not enough that we have market manipulation? Now we have to endure message board manipulation? Beware the Evil Message Board Overlord (EMBO).

But a guy who is rich, tall, looks like a model, collects super bowl rings on his way to the Hall of Fame, and who knocks up supermodels in his spare time, might be due for some adversity in life. Just sayin'.
