Good morning. This morning’s pre-market is +$1.58 at this moment. Let’s see if we can stay in the green today and keep the red from showing. Premarket: Apple is green

Question on the split - I'm confused on how this is going to work. Seeing press that you need to be a shareholder of record as of Aug 24th (Mon) and that the split begins with trading on Mon Aug 31. Because of settlement issues, wouldn't tomorrow be the last day to buy to get the split's additional shares (would settle mon 8-24)? If you buy 100 shares on Monday 8-24 and it settles Wed 8-26 do you still get 400 shares on Aug 31st anyway? I guess my question is - does the date in advance of the split actually mean anything?

Well, I thought Epic was arrogant, but Saggybooty takes it to a whole new level. The guy hasn't even run a hot dog stand, but he's going to tell Apple how much it should spend on R&D? ***
Last time I checked, Buffett hasn't beaten the S&P for the past decade. Good work if you can get it!
Always nice to know in the first few minutes of the trading day that you're going to get an Artman ATH post (even if it's just intraday high).

$2T. As one of the talking heads and CNBC said this morning, "everything we know about the law of large numbers goes out the window." Yeah, and as we all said back when Apple had a $1T market cap, that's not a law. We really should round up every dope who uttered that phrase and ban them from ever speaking about stocks again. Again, share price times number of shares gives us zero information about the fundamentals of a company. And we don't even know the number of shares outstanding today. Munster said on CNBC today that "Apple's best days are ahead of it." And Gene says he doesn't see a $4T cap in 2021, but that Apple has "a clear path to $600." (unfortunately that's pre-split ).

Last time I checked, Buffett hasn't beaten the S&P for the past decade. Good work if you can get it! With AAPL's run, investors who have held for a while have outperformed Buffet's average, which is something around 20% annualized. The difference is timeframe. Buffet's is something like 50-60 years. Most of us "really long timers" are only pushing a little over 20 years of those returns. But Damn! 34.8% annualized (plus some dividends) for 22.5 years is just amazing.

For those interested, when I called CBOE they told me to send new option requests to marketservices@cboe.com
I'd like to see strikes up to 800 for Jan '22 and Sept '22, and am ready to write Sept '22 740 covered calls at 25 or 30 with AAPL here and in the next 20 points.
AAPL is on a tear, and I keep coming back to JD's supermodel visualization. Still, a little forward thinking while in euphoria helps keep it all going. Put a ring on it!

One thing I amusingly think back on when the law of large numbers is brought up is back in the early 1990's my broker was talking down my ownership of Microsoft trying to get me to buy some other stock he was pushing and incredulously said "It's at 50 billion dollars now, how much bigger do you think it can get". Dumb da Dumb Dumb

Have to admit, I pinch myself thinking about what has become of my decision to purchase some AAPL after graduating college in mid 2000's. Persistence has certainly paid off.

I’ve always been curious, if your investment broker is so knowledgeable about investing, why is he working a 9 to 5 job. Shouldn’t he be living on his own private island? I know, he just likes helping others.

Glad mine never tried to convince me of that stuff. But I was too much of a small timer for them to care much, until I wasn't. He called this morning, checking in and giving an invite to a Joe Montana zoom call or something. "for certain customers". Not very on-topic, but I might listen in just because. AAPL didn't manage to stay high all day, but it can't rain all the time. Instead, we were out in the heat on the V&T line, on a railroad track bike. Luckily it had an e-bike booster, so we didn' have to work much in the smoke that was getting thicker by the minute. A week and a half to go for the split, and then a month or so build up for the iPhone 12. I try to not build in too much more of a climb, but it does seem there will be more up days than down in the coming 5-6 weeks.
