Parallels planning to support virtualization on M1 Mac’sEDIT - that link does not seem to work properly. Here is the text Apple’s “One more thing.” event on November 10, 2020, revealed the first Mac computers powered by Apple M1 chip. Parallels is excited to see the performance, power efficiency, and virtualization features that are brought to the Mac with Apple M1 chip. The transition to Mac with Apple M1 chip should be smooth for most Mac applications, thanks to Rosetta technology. Fortunately, our Parallels Access™, Parallels® Toolbox, and Parallels® Client software worked smoothly even before Parallels rebuilt them as universal binaries. However, virtual machines are an exception. It is important to note that currently available versions of Parallels® Desktop for Mac cannot run virtual machines on Mac with Apple M1 chip. Good news: A new version of Parallels Desktop for Mac that can run on Mac with Apple M1 chip is already in active development. When Apple Silicon Mac was first announced during the keynote at WWDC on June 22 of this year, Apple demoed a Parallels Desktop for Mac prototype running a Linux virtual machine flawlessly on Apple Silicon. Since WWDC, our new version of Parallels Desktop which runs on Mac with Apple M1 chip has made tremendous progress. We switched Parallels Desktop to universal binary and optimized its virtualization code; and the version that we are eager to try on these new MacBook Air, Mac mini and MacBook Pro 13″ looks very promising. Parallels is also amazed by the news from Microsoft about adding support of x64 applications in Windows on ARM. As our customers know, Parallels cares deeply about the quality of our software products and the experiences they provide. With macOS Big Sur and new Mac with Apple M1 chip becoming available, we will continue to do more extensive evaluations, both in our lab and with your help via the upcoming Parallels Technical Preview Program. If you are interested in trying the Preview – please let us know by clicking on the Subscribe button below and completing and submitting the form. If you are not ready to purchase a new Mac with Apple M1 chip yet or participate in the Technical Preview but want to get all the latest news about Mac with Apple M1 chip support by Parallels Desktop, simply let us know when you complete and submit the form after clicking on the Subscribe button below.

That was a great close. We need more charts that look like today’s.

An extra $21k for a 6 week stay sounds pretty nice depending on your situation. I had to turn down my last potential business trip, to fly down to Vegas and stay at the ARIA just before it opened to help make sure the IGT backend behind the slot machines was working right. It would have been a fun little trip. But, we were in the time period where our 3rd kid could be born any day, so it just wasn't a trip I could make. Some people manage to make it all work, such as a friend who often tacks on a couple weeks to at least one of his overseas trips annually. Though mine while working at a national lab were all within the US, I did get to briefly travel to several parts of the country that I haven't been to otherwise. Too bad I didn't try to tackle that 72 oz steak in Amarillo, back when I would have had a fighting chance at it.

While the trips to China are technically “voluntary,” execs and managers remember who did the heavy lifting when bonuses and promotions are being handed out. This is Apple and Apple wants “A” people. And A people want to work with other A people, not lazy schlubs who want to do the 9-5 minimum.
As Steve once pointed out, if your obsession is golf, you’re working at the wrong company.
Definitely prefer the Viagra closes to the limpies! 📈

PED has Anantech: Apple’s M1 is the world’s fastest CPU. It will be interesting to see if this kicks off a new round of development by the world’s chip makers. IMHO having the developers, product designers and application specialists all cooperating on a single internal schedule is a tremendous benefit.

There was a time in my career when, for $500 per day, I would wash my clothes in Irish Lamb Stew. You guys had bathtubs?

But that’s just me. I dunno. If I'm stuck in a hotel room for 14 days straight, I wouldn't need to do any laundry ... because, as long as its HVAC is working properly, I wouldn't need clothes! Maybe a pair of shorts in case someone knocks at the door to bring food, but that's it.

www.macrumors.com/2020/11/11/m1-macbook-air-first-benchmark/“In comparison to Macs, the single-core performance is better than any other available Mac, and the multi-core performance beats out all of the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro models, including the 10th-generation high-end 2.4GHz Intel Core i9 model. That high-end 16-inch MacBook Pro earned a single-core score of 1096 and a multi-core score of 6870.“ Amazing for the first iteration of the M1 SoC.

Remember, we are talking about a "lowly" MacBook Air here, the lowest tier of Apple laptops ... and it performs nearly as well as current Xeon-based pro devices!

$500 a day for 6 weeks comes to nearly 200 shares. 😆 When you are promoted to VP for your dedication and work ethic, you get a lot more than 200 shares.
